Abstract

This research was conducted based on the phenomenon that students’ reading proficiency, especially in understanding recount texts, was still relatively low. Many students experienced difficulties in comprehending vocabulary, identifying main ideas, and understanding the sequence of events. This problem was influenced by the use of teacher-centered methods and the lack of interactive learning media, which made students less engaged in the learning process. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether the use of the Wordwall application had a significant effect on students’ reading proficiency. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: an experimental class and a control class. The population consisted of eleventh-grade students at SMA Swasta Kampus Nommensen Pematangsiantar, with a total sample of 52 students selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was a reading test in the form of fill-in-the-blank questions administered through pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results showed that the mean score of the experimental class increased significantly from 38.07 in the pre-test to 86.73 in the post-test, while the control class only improved from 44.23 to 57.88. The t-test result (3.271) was higher than the t-table value (2.009), indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, the Wordwall application is effective in improving students’ reading proficiency. It is recommended that teachers use Wordwall as an interactive learning medium, and future researchers are encouraged to apply it to other language skills.

Abstract

Narcotics abuse in Indonesia is a serious problem that continues to increase and has broad impacts on social, economic, and public health aspects. One form of narcotics crime is the unlawful act of receiving marijuana as regulated in Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. This study aims to analyze the factors causing the criminal act of unlawfully receiving marijuana and the law enforcement against such crime in Decision Number 1765/Pid.Sus/2024/PN Medan. This research uses a normative legal method with a case study approach supported by primary and secondary legal materials. The results show that the main contributing factors include economic conditions, social environment, and low legal awareness. Law enforcement has been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations; however, it still faces obstacles such as limited supervision and suboptimal effectiveness of sanctions. In conclusion, more comprehensive law enforcement efforts and increased public legal awareness are needed to reduce narcotics abuse.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the dynamics of social interaction between students with special needs and regular students within the learning environment. The focus of the study was how social interaction processes were formed and developed in inclusive classrooms that involved students with differing characteristics. The study wasepted to provide an account of the patterns of social interaction occurring between students with special needs and regular students and to serve as a basis for developing more effective inclusive education practices at the elementary level. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included the school principal, classroom teachers, students with special needs, and regular students involved in the inclusive classroom learning process. Data analysis followed the Miled and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to obtain an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of social interaction occurring in the school setting. The findings indicated that the dynamics of social interaction between students with special needs and regular students developed progressively during classroom learning. This development was evidenced by five social interaction indicators: participation in collaborative activities, peer social support, social acceptance within the class community, initiave in reciprocal interactions, and positive emotional responses in peer relationships. The formed social interactions demonstrated processes of adaptation, cooperation, and mutual understanding between students with special needs and regular students, although some communication barriers and individual characteristic differences were still present. The role of teachers and an inclusive classroom environment were identified as crucial factors supporting the emergence of positive social interactions among students.

Abstract

Geography is the study of geospheric phenomena with an emphasis on spatial, environmental, and regional aspects. In geography instruction at universities, an understanding of basic geographic concepts serves as an essential foundation for students to develop spatial literacy skills. However, in practice, some students still lack a comprehensive understanding of basic geographic concepts such as location, distance, patterns, interactions, and spatial relationships. This situation indicates the need for reconstruction of basic geographic concepts in the learning process to improve students' spatial analysis skills. This study aims to analyze students' understanding of basic geographic concepts and formulate a learning reconstruction that can strengthen spatial literacy in understanding geospheric phenomena. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection techniques through literature review, learning observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques that include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the reconstruction of basic geographic concepts through spatial, ecological, and regional complex approaches improved students' understanding of geospheric phenomena more comprehensively, with an average score of 77.4%. Furthermore, the integration of spatial literacy into geography learning can also help students develop critical thinking skills regarding various environmental and regional phenomena. The overall average score is 76.5%. Thus, the correlation value is 0.67%, making the reconstruction of basic geographical concepts an important strategy in strengthening the competencies of geography education students in higher education.

Abstract

Based on the results of observations in the fourth grade at SDN Merjosari 3 Malang, it was found that students’ critical thinking skills in Civic Education learning still need to be improved. This is indicated by the fact that some students are not yet able to analyze problems effectively, are not accustomed to expressing opinions logically, and are less active in providing arguments or responses to a given issue. In addition, students tend to be passive during discussions and have not been able to optimally relate the learning material to their daily lives. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were fourth-grade students of SDN Merjosari 3 Malang. Data collection techniques included observation sheets, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The results of the study showed that the implementation of project-based learning in Civic Education could improve students’ critical thinking skills. In the initial condition, the class average score was 70 with a mastery percentage of 40%. After the implementation of Cycle I, the average score increased to 73.33 with a mastery percentage of 66.66%. In Cycle II, the average score further increased to 89.00 with a mastery percentage of 86.66%.In conclusion, the implementation of project-based learning is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills in Civic Education for fourth-grade students at SDN Merjosari 3 Malang. This approach encourages students to be more active in the learning process through activities that involve problem-solving, analysis, and decision-making. Therefore, learning becomes more meaningful as students are directly engaged in the learning experience, which positively impacts the development of their critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study examines the role of transformational leadership in improving the quality of students’ health services at Al-Jauharen Islamic Boarding School in Pelayangan District, Jambi City. The problem addressed in this research is the limited quality of health services for students, which is influenced by constraints such as inadequate facilities, limited medical personnel, and suboptimal sanitation conditions. The objective of this study is to analyze how transformational leadership contributes to enhancing health service quality, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and explore the efforts undertaken by the boarding school leadership. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving key informants such as the head of the boarding school, administrators, students, and related stakeholders. The findings reveal that transformational leadership is reflected through idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. This leadership approach has successfully improved the quality of students’ health services through integrated health programs, the empowerment of student health cadres (Santri Husada), the promotion of clean and healthy living behaviors, and collaboration with external institutions such as community health centers and the local health office. However, challenges remain, including limited infrastructure and the absence of permanent medical staff. Overall, transformational leadership plays a significant role in creating a healthy, religious, and sustainable boarding school environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the suboptimal use of interesting and interactive E-LKPD in Pancasila Education learning for fifth grade elementary school students, resulting in students easily getting bored, lacking motivation, and being less active. This study aims to develop comic-assisted E-LKPD with a valid, practical, and effective Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The product was validated by material, media, and language experts, while practicality was measured through teacher and student response questionnaires, and effectiveness through pretest and posttest. The results showed that E-LKPD obtained a validity of 96.23% with a very valid category. Practicality in the trial stage reached 97.5% (teachers) and 94% (students) with an N-Gain score of 81 (high). In the implementation stage, practicality and effectiveness scores also showed a very practical and high category in both schools. Thus, the PBL-based comic-based E-LKPD is suitable for use in Pancasila Education learning for fifth-grade elementary school students. This product is recommended for teachers as an innovative teaching material to improve student motivation, activeness, and learning outcomes.
