Abstract

The rapid advancement of science and technology has influenced students’ learning behaviors and lifestyles, including the increasing tendency toward online game addiction, which may affect academic achievement. This study aimed to examine the effect of online game addiction on students’ academic achievement at SMK Negeri 6 Batang Hari. The research employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto design. The population consisted of 150 students, with 109 students selected through purposive sampling, namely those who played online games for 1–10 hours per day. Data were collected using questionnaires and supported by observation, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that students’ level of online game addiction was categorized as high, with a mean score of 74.99. Regression analysis revealed a significant negative effect of online game addiction on academic achievement, with a regression coefficient of −0.480 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.397, indicating that online game addiction contributed 39.7% to variations in academic achievement, while the remaining 60.3% was influenced by other factors such as motivation, family environment, learning interest, and psychological conditions. These findings indicate that a high level of online game addiction can negatively affect students’ academic achievement if not properly managed.

Abstract

Muanzir. 2026. The Effect of Utilizing E-book Folklore Learning Media on the Reading Comprehension Ability of Fifth Grade Students at SDI Lembang Bu’ne, Tompobulu District, Gowa Regency. Thesis. Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. Supervisors: I. Aliem Bahri and II. Sri Rahayu.This study was motivated by the problem of low reading comprehension ability among fifth grade students, which was influenced by the limited use of creative and innovative learning media in the teaching and learning process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of using folklore e-book learning media on the reading comprehension ability of fifth grade students at SDI Lembang Bu’ne.The method used in this research was an experimental method with a Pre-Experimental Design, specifically the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of 12 fifth grade students. Data were collected through a pretest and a posttest. The obtained data were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the assistance of a t-test.The results of the study showed that the e-book learning media had a significant effect on the reading comprehension ability of fifth grade students at SDI Lembang Bu’ne, Tompobulu District, Gowa Regency. This can be seen from the improvement in students’ reading comprehension learning outcomes, as well as from the observation results indicating that the use of folklore e-book learning media had a positive impact on students’ learning activities, with a 100% increase in students’ reading comprehension results. The inferential data analysis showed that there was an effect of using e-book learning media, as evidenced by the results of the t-test calculation, where tcount = 51.00 and ttable = 2.201. Since tcount (51.00) > ttable (2.201), it can be concluded that the e-book learning media had a positive effect on the reading comprehension ability of fifth grade students at SDI Lembang Bu’ne, Tompobulu District, Gowa Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies for forming students' religious character and to examine the process of religious behavioral transformation among Grade IV students at SD Inpres 1 Tikong, Pulau Taliabu Regency, through Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 32 research subjects consisting of 31 Grade IV students and 1 PAI teacher. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that religious character formation was carried out through three integrated strategies, namely the comprehension strategy through consistent delivery of religious material, the habituation strategy through daily routines including prayer, congregational dzuhur prayer, and Ramadhan intensive Islamic study, and the exemplary strategy through the teacher's genuine behavior as a character model for students. The character transformation process occurred gradually across three phases: external direction, habitual transition, and value internalization, in which behavior that was initially extrinsically driven evolved into habits rooted in students' intrinsic awareness. These findings contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goal 4 on inclusive and quality education, Goal 10 on reducing inter-regional disparities, and Goal 16 on building just and character-driven societies.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of mathematical problem-solving ability among elementary school students and the suboptimal implementation of learning approaches that connect mathematical concepts with real-life situations. This study aims to examine the effect of the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach and learning motivation, as well as their interaction, on the mathematical problem-solving ability of fourth-grade students at SDN 100590 Air Kanan. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental design with a treatment by level (2 × 2) design and a pretest–posttest nonequivalent control group design. This study employed a saturated sampling technique with a total sample of 40 students. Data collection techniques included essay tests to measure mathematical problem-solving ability and questionnaires to assess learning motivation, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Hypothesis testing was conducted through prerequisite tests, t-tests, two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and follow-up tests. The results showed that there is a significant effect of the PMRI approach on students' mathematical problem-solving ability. In addition, learning motivation also has a significant effect on this ability. Furthermore, there is an interaction between the PMRI learning approach and learning motivation on students' mathematical problem-solving ability. Further findings indicate that students with high motivation in PMRI learning achieved the highest performance, while students with low motivation still showed improvement compared to those taught using the expository approach.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) the forms of assistance carried out by students’university as facilitators in the Teaching Campus Program at SDN 12 Pangkajene to improve student literacy, and 2) the pedagogical approach strategies used by university students’ in assisting as literacy facilitators at SDN 12 Pangkajene. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show: 1) the type of mentoring carried out by university students’ as facilitators in the Teaching Campus program at SDN 12 Pangkajene is implemented through literacy guidance, paired reading, educational games, and the optimization of literacy gardens and reading corners. This mentoring has an impact on improving reading comprehension skills, learning motivation, self-confidence, and collaboration between students and teachers in fostering a sustainable literacy culture. 2) the pedagogical approach strategies used by university students’ as facilitators include collaborative, conceptual, and activity-based approaches. These three approaches have proven effective in gradually enhancing student engagement, understanding of reading concepts, and critical thinkingskills.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding ability in solving fractional story problems through the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model in grade IV students of SD Negeri 101944 Deli Muda. The problems in this study stem from the low understanding of students on fractional story problems and the learning method which is still conventional and teacher-centered. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model which consists of two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The instruments used include test sheets, observation, and documentation. The results of the study showed an increase in students' understanding ability from an initial average value of 50 with a completion rate of only 30.77% (4 out of 13 students) to an average of 80 with a completion rate of 80% in cycle II. This increase shows that the RME model is effective in helping students understand fractional story problems through real and meaningful contextual learning. Thus, the application of the RME model can be an alternative solution in improving students' understanding of mathematical concepts, especially in fractional number material.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the scientific literacy skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya on the circulatory system material based on Bybee’s levels of scientific literacy and to analyze the influencing factors. This research used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method involving 31 students. The instruments used were a scientific literacy test and questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that students’ scientific literacy skills were in the high category with an average score of 82.50. Students demonstrated good achievement at the functional, conceptual, and multidimensional levels. The correlation test results indicated that students’ internal factors, teacher roles, school facilities, and parental support had no significant relationship with students’ scientific literacy scores. Therefore, improving scientific literacy needs to be supported through contextual learning and critical thinking practices.

Abstract

Character education is an essential aspect in shaping children's personality, especially in the era of globalization and digitalization which brings various moral challenges. This study aims to describe the process of internalizing character education values within the family and to analyze the role of the family as the primary basis for children's personality development. This research employs a qualitative approach with a library research method, utilizing relevant scientific literature as data sources. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that the internalization of character values in the family is carried out through role modeling, habituation, effective communication, and consistent supervision. The family plays a strategic role as the first environment in shaping children's character, although it faces various challenges such as technological influence, parents' busyness, and social environment. Therefore, strong commitment and appropriate strategies from parents, along with collaboration with educational institutions, are necessary to optimize children's personality development.

Abstract

Penury remains a major challenge in Indonesia's development plans and is influenced by many economic and social factors. To fight poverty well, we need a combined approach that includes helping more people, especially women, find jobs and improving education and health in a way that follows Islamic values. This is shown through the IHDI. More women taking part in the economy should lead to higher family income, and human development that includes spiritual and social values is likely to help with lasting and sustainable happiness. This study aims to look at how women's involvement in work and the Islamic Human Development Index affect poverty in Indonesia, using a quantitative time series approach. The study uses yearly data from 2010 to 2024, which comes from Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as well as different publications and reports that are connected to measuring the IHDI. Multiple linear regression analysis, using the Ordinary Least Squares method, is used to determine how much female workers and the IHDI affect poverty levels in Indonesia. The study shows that when more women work, it makes a big difference in reducing poverty in Indonesia. This means that having more women in jobs helps families earn more money and stay financially stable, which in turn helps cut down poverty. The results also show that the IHDI is linked in a negative and important way to poverty, meaning that when human development is based on Islamic values, it helps create better and more lasting social welfare outcomes.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in the 21st century faces significant challenges in remaining relevant amid rapid advancements in digital technology and shifts in student demographics, which are now dominated by Generation Z and Generation Alpha. This article aims to analyze innovations in the utilization of open digital platforms as instruments for transforming content and character in PAI learning. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) research method, this article reviews literature from reputable journals (Sinta and Scopus) over the past ten years. The SLR stages include source identification, literature screening based on inclusion criteria, assessment of material suitability, and inclusion of relevant data. The results indicate that open digital platforms such as Google Classroom, Canva, YouTube, and Quizizz have transformed PAI learning patterns from a rigid normative-transmissive approach to an interactive constructive-reflective one. The findings indicate that the integration of interactive multimedia can increase learning motivation by up to 86% and cognitive learning outcomes by 86.5%. In addition to serving as a visual aid, digital platforms play a role in internalizing Islamic character values through the development of digital literacy, communication ethics (digital etiquette), and the strengthening of critical thinking regarding information (tabayyun). This article concludes that the transformation of Islamic Education in the digital age requires a balance between educators’ technological competencies and oversight of spiritual content to produce a generation that is intellectually intelligent and morally sound.
