Abstract

This research is motivated by the high unemployment rate of vocational school graduates is still not fully in line with the demands of the world of work. Work readiness is influenced by several internal and external factors such as competence and mastery of information technology as internal factors while family environment and industrial work practices as external factors. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of competence, information technology mastery, and family environment, as well as to examine industrial work practice as a moderating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study consists of twelfth-grade students at SMK Negeri 2 Semarang. The sampling technique used is Stratified Proportional Random Sampling, applying the Slovin formula, resulting in a sample of 206 students. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed across five study programs. The data analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS 26. The results of the study indicate that competence, information technology mastery, and family environment have a positive effect on job readiness. Meanwhile, industrial work practices are able to moderate competence on work readiness but industrial work practices are not able to moderate mastery of information technology and family environment on student work readiness. This study concluded that competency, mastery of information technology, and the family environment are crucial for improving students' work readiness. Schools need to improve the quality of competency learning and strengthen the synergy between the family environment and industry.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the learning phenomenon in Indonesia, which requires educators to develop students’ life skills as preparation for facing life challenges. Curriculum demands and societal changes encourage educators to integrate personal and social skills into the learning process. This condition is also evident at SD Negeri 2 Metro Pusat, where learning has been directed toward fostering students’ life skills, particularly personal and social competencies. The objectives of this study are to identify educators’ strategies in developing students’ life skills, to describe the impacts of these strategies, and to analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation at SD Negeri 2 Metro Pusat. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation, while data validity is ensured through method and source triangulation. The data sources consist of the principal, third- and fourth-grade teachers, and third- and fourth-grade students. The results show that educators implement life skill development through active learning strategies, flexible teaching methods, and their roles as facilitators and mentors. These strategies have a positive impact on students’ self-awareness, social attitudes, thinking skills, self-confidence, and life readiness. Supporting factors include school policies, a conducive learning environment, and parental support, while inhibiting factors include limited time and facilities. It can be concluded that active learning strategies supported by the school effectively optimize the development of students’ personal and social life skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the functions of the Solo Menari 2025 event and the challenges faced in introducing dance culture to the community while instilling character education values to celebrate World Dance Day. The research method applied is descriptive qualitative. The study was conducted in Surakarta at the Solo Menari 2025 event, with research subjects comprising participating dancers, event organizers, and the general public attending the event. Meanwhile, the research object focuses on the functions of Solo Menari 2025 in preserving dance culture and instilling character values, as well as the challenges encountered. Data collection techniques include interviews, literature analysis, and field observations. The research findings indicate that Solo Menari 2025 not only serves as a platform for preserving traditional dance arts but also successfully instills character values such as discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, tolerance, cooperation, patriotism, and orderliness. These values are internalized through practice sessions, performances, and social interactions between participants and the community. These results align with previous studies affirming that dance arts education can function as a comprehensive, relevant, and contextual means of character education. However, this study also identified several obstacles, including the event's frequency of only once a year, limited budget, transportation access issues, and competition from digital entertainment. Therefore, Solo Menari 2025 needs further development to become a sustainable medium for cultural preservation and character education. The implication of this study is the need to integrate dance arts into formal and non-formal education as an effort to preserve culture and build national character.

Abstract

This study examines the formation of religious character in students through the study of yellow books in boarding schools. The research aims to: (1) to describe the dynamics of the teaching of the yellow book in Pondok Pesantren Wali Aminah Ngasem Jombok Ngoro Jombang, and (2) to identify the factors that support and hinder the process. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is based on Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was tested through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability checks. The results of the study show that: (1) the study of the yellow book in the boarding school is carried out by combining the classical boarding school curriculum and the use of technology in response to the development of the times; and (2) the supporting factors include the competence of the teacher, the enthusiasm of the students, the teaching materials, the boarding school environment, and the role model (uswatun hasanah), while the limiting factors include the limited ability of the teacher in the field of technology, the differences in the background and the level of understanding of the students, the emotional changes of the students, and the influence of social interaction among the students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a comprehensive strategy and model to enhance students’ active participation in school activities at Madrasah Aliyah through a literature-based qualitative approach. Low student participation and limited parental involvement in madrasah programs remain key challenges that hinder character development and academic achievement. Several internal and external inhibiting factors, such as low interest and motivation, weak parental support, limited learning resources, heavy academic workload, and inadequate access to technology, are systematically analyzed. The article further elaborates on forms of parental involvement relevant to Islamic education, including emotional support, academic supervision, and participation in religious and collaborative class activities. In addition, a school–family partnership model based on communication and technology is proposed, which leverages digital platforms to reduce barriers of time and distance and strengthen synergy between the madrasah and the family. It is expected that this model will promote more inclusive, sustainable, and impactful involvement in improving the quality of Islamic education in Madrasah Aliyah.

Abstract

This study began with observations indicating that students’ interest in learning mathematics was relatively low, particularly in the topic of plane geometry. This low level of interest is presumed to be related to the use of conventional teaching methods that tend to be teacher-centered, resulting in limited student engagement during the learning process. Such conditions highlight the need for innovative instructional approaches that can foster students’ interest and active participation. One potential solution is the use of concrete learning media based on tangram. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using tangram-based concrete media in improving the learning interest of second-grade students at SD Negeri Bajing 2 Kroya. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group consisting of 19 students and a control group consisting of 17 students. The experimental group received instruction using tangram-based concrete media, while the control group was taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through a learning interest questionnaire administered before and after the intervention. The collected data were analyzed using the Independent Samples t-test. The results showed that the average learning interest score in the experimental group reached 80.64%, while the control group achieved 69.41%. The significance value obtained was 0.000 (<0.05), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of tangram-based concrete media is effective in enhancing students’ learning interest compared to conventional teaching methods.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of social inequality in the novel Orang-Orang Proyek by Ahmad Tohari through a sociological approach to literature. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical design. The primary data consist of the novel text, while secondary data are derived from various supporting references such as books, journals, and scholarly articles. Data collection is conducted through a reading and note-taking technique, while data analysis employs content analysis with the researcher as the main instrument. The validity of the data is ensured through theoretical triangulation.2The results of the study indicate that social inequality in the novel is manifested in several main forms. First, there is inequality in access to power, where the project elites have full dominance in decision-making, while workers occupy subordinate positions. Second, economic inequality is reflected in the unequal distribution of capital and welfare between project authorities and laborers who face limited living conditions. Third, inequality in education and life opportunities is evident in the limited access of lower-class groups to self-improvement and social mobility. Fourth, there is unequal control over information and opportunities for political participation, which further strengthens the dominant position of the elites. In addition, structural domination is also reflected in practices that restrict the participation of lower-class communities in the development process. Thus, the novel represents social inequality as a complex structural phenomenon involving unequal relations of power, economic resources, and social access, while also illustrating how development actually widens the gap between elite groups and the lower classes.
