Abstract

This study aims to describe the fundamental motor skills of elementary school students at SD Negeri 35 Padang Sarai. The focus of the research is on fundamental motor abilities, including locomotor skills and object control skills, which are essential components of motor development in school-aged children. A quantitative approach with a descriptive design was employed. The population consisted of 369 students of SD Negeri 35 Padang Sarai, while the sample comprised 53 third-grade students selected through cluster sampling based on existing class groups. Data were collected using the Test of Gross Motor Development-2 (TGMD-2), which assesses both locomotor and object control skills. The data were analyzed using descriptive percentage statistics and a five-scale classification formula to determine students’ fundamental motor skill levels. The findings revealed that the overall fundamental motor skills of the students were categorized as moderate, with a total score of 73. Locomotor skills obtained a score of 36, classified as moderate, while object control skills also scored 36, falling into the same category. These results indicate that students’ fundamental motor skills remain at a medium level, suggesting the need for more structured Physical Education programs to optimize motor development among elementary school students.

Abstract

The Indonesian criminal justice system, regulated under the 1981 Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), is currently dominated by a rigid retributive approach that positions the state as the sole holder of prosecutorial power through the dominus litis principle. Consequently, the victim's position is highly marginalized and passive, limited to acting merely as a witness during trial. This normative legal research aims to formulate a reconstruction of Indonesian criminal procedural law by exploring the potential adoption of active prosecution rights for victims through a critical comparative analysis with the Thai legal system. The study employs statutory, conceptual, and comparative legal approaches. The findings reveal that although Thailand recognizes private prosecution, granting victims independent standing to bring cases directly to court, this mechanism is highly vulnerable to being weaponized as Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) by powerful corporate entities to silence journalists and vulnerable groups. Therefore, this study recommends that Indonesia should refrain from adopting pure private prosecution, and instead reconstruct its procedural system toward a Co-Prosecution model. Under this model, victims are granted active procedural rights to formally accompany public prosecutors in court for specific offenses, filtered through the optimization of the Preliminary Hearing Judge (HPP) to prevent bad-faith lawsuits

Abstract

The abstract concept of national values is difficult for students who are still at the concrete operational stage of thinking to understand, so interactive and contextual learning media such as pocket board. This study aims to describe the value of patriotism through the use of the pocket board as a teaching aid for fifth-grade students. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 21 fifth-grade students and their classroom teacher. Data were collected through direct observation during the learning process, structured and in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was ensured through triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the use of the pocket board teaching aid significantly supports the instillation of patriotism in fifth-grade students. Based on the observation results, a total score of 734 was obtained, with an average score of 34.95 and a success rate of 87.34%, placing it in the “very high” category. This sense of patriotism is reflected in the students’ concrete behaviors, such as (1) taking pride in being Indonesian citizens; (2) appreciating cultural diversity and domestic products; (3) maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the school environment; (4) complying with school rules and regulations; and (5) respecting differences in background among classmates. The pocket board is highly recommended as an applicable alternative learning medium for elementary school teachers to help students internalize national character values.

Abstract

The low reading interest of elementary school students remains a major challenge in strengthening literacy culture in Indonesia. One of the strategies implemented by schools to foster students' reading interest is the reading corner program. However, its implementation has not been fully optimized, particularly in promoting children's literature reading interest. This study aimed to describe the condition of the reading corner, identify the availability of children's literature books, and examine the responses of teachers and students regarding the contribution of the reading corner program to fostering children's literature reading interest at SDN Rawabadak Selatan 03. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research participants consisted of the principal, the fourth-grade teacher, and fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the reading corner had been provided and utilized as a supporting facility for literacy activities, although its management still required further improvement. The availability of children's literature books was relatively adequate; however, both the quantity and variety of the collection need to be expanded to better accommodate students' interests and needs. Teachers and students responded positively to the reading corner program because it increased students' interest in reading, encouraged literacy habits, and motivated them to read children's literature independently. Therefore, the reading corner program contributes to fostering students' interest in reading children's literature and should be continuously optimized through sustainable management and the provision of more diverse book collections.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is an important skill that students need to develop in mathematics learning; however, this ability is still relatively low, especially in the topic of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SLETV). The development of Artificial Intelligence, particularly ChatGPT, provides opportunities to support students’ mathematical problem-solving processes. This study aimed to describe junior high school students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities in algebra by utilizing Artificial Intelligence based on high, moderate, and low mathematical ability levels. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of three seventh-grade students at a junior high school in Surabaya selected based on the results of a mathematics ability test and an AI usage questionnaire. Data were collected through mathematical problem-solving tests completed with and without utilizing ChatGPT, as well as interviews. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing based on Schoenfeld’s problem-solving stages, namely reading and analysis, exploration, planning, implementation, and verification and checking. The findings showed that students with high mathematical ability utilized ChatGPT as a reference to obtain problem-solving strategies while still relying on their own understanding during the solving and verification processes. Students with moderate mathematical ability utilized ChatGPT as guidance in determining solution steps, whereas students with low mathematical ability utilized ChatGPT to obtain solution procedures used to solve the problems. The findings indicate that the role of ChatGPT differs across students’ mathematical ability levels.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence provides opportunities for students to obtain assistance in solving various learning problems, including statistical problems. However, the use of AI also raises questions about how students’ critical thinking skills are demonstrated when interacting with such technology. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the critical thinking skills of high-, moderate-, and low-mathematical-ability senior high school students in solving statistical problems using Artificial Intelligence. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of three senior high school students representing high, moderate, and low mathematical abilities. Data were collected through a Mathematical Ability Test, a Critical Thinking Skills Test, an Artificial Intelligence usage questionnaire, and interviews. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students with high mathematical ability used ChatGPT to obtain information that helped them understand the concepts required to solve statistical problems. Students with moderate mathematical ability used ChatGPT to support problem-solving and concepts understanding, although some concepts were not fully understood. Meanwhile, students with low mathematical ability used ChatGPT primarily to obtain formulas and information needed to solve the problems. Without using ChatGPT, students with high mathematical ability were still able to provide reasoning consistent with their analysis, whereas students with moderate and low mathematical ability showed limitations in providing justification and interpreting the results obtained. Thus, the use of ChatGPT provided different forms of support according to students’ mathematical abilities in solving statistical problems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of zakat learning in shaping students' generous character. The problem addressed is that zakat material in Islamic Religious Education at schools is still limited to cognitive understanding, whereas it should also develop affective and psychomotor values. The formation of a generous character is an important goal of Islamic education, cultivating social concern and responsibility toward others. However, zakat learning in educational institutions often emphasizes cognitive aspects, such as definitions, rulings, and calculation of zakat, rather than internalizing the character values it contains. This research uses the library research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained from the Qur'an, hadiths, Islamic education books, zakat literature, and relevant scientific articles, analyzed through content analysis. The results show that zakat learning contains five educational values contributing to students' generous character: (1) social concern, (2) generosity, (3) sincerity, (4) social responsibility, and (5) gratitude. These values can be internalized through a learning process oriented not only toward mastery of material but also toward habituating sharing and caring behavior. This study also produces a character-based conceptual model of zakat learning that can serve as a reference for developing Islamic religious education curricula. Thus, zakat learning has strong relevance in shaping students' generous character as part of the goals of Islamic education, which emphasizes balance between individual and social piety.
