Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of Grade VII.7 students in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) at SMP Negeri 14 Padang. The issues stemmed from a lack of variety in teaching methods, low student engagement, and limited facilities and infrastructure. The study aimed to improve PJOK learning outcomes through the implementation of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design was employed, utilizing the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which comprises the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted over two cycles—each consisting of two meetings—involving 32 students. Data collection involved observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation, while data analysis utilized quantitative descriptive methods. The results indicated an improvement in student learning outcomes across both cycles. In Cycle I, the average score rose from 70 to 75.63 (a 5.6% increase). In Cycle II, the average score rose from 80 to 88.1 (an 8.1% increase). Furthermore, the percentage of students achieving mastery learning also showed a significant increase. Thus, it can be concluded that implementing the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model is effective in enhancing PJOK learning outcomes and fostering an active, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experience for students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between peer social support and academic procrastination in class XI IPA students of MAS Al Washliyah 12 Perbaungan in the 2025/2026 academic year. The method used is quantitative correlation with a sample of 43 students selected by simple random sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale-based peer social support and academic procrastination questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability (peer social support α = 0.881; academic procrastination α = 0.887). Based on data analysis that has been carried out using the product moment correlation test calculation formula, the results of the study were a correlation coefficient (r) of -0.479 and a significance value (p) of 0.001 (p <0.05). The results of this study indicate a relationship between peer social support and academic procrastination in grade XI IPA students at MAS Al Washliyah 12 Perbaungan in the 2025/2026 academic year. The coefficient of determination of 23% indicates that peer social support contributes to academic procrastination in students, while the remaining 77% is influenced by other factors. This finding indicates that the higher the peer social support, the lower the student's academic procrastination. Therefore, strengthening peer social support is important to integrate into educational programs to help students reduce academic procrastination, increase learning motivation, and support optimal social and academic development.

Abstract

Self-identity formation is one of the essential developmental tasks during adolescence, which is influenced by internal and external factors. Emotion regulation, as an internal factor, plays a role in helping adolescents manage their emotional responses adaptively, while the intensity of TikTok social media use, as an external factor, has the potential to influence the process of self-identity formation. This study aimed to determine the influence of emotion regulation and the intensity of TikTok social media use on students' self-identity formation at SMA Negeri 1 Nawangan. This study employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The population consisted of 381 students, with a sample of 195 students selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using psychological scales that had met the validity and reliability requirements. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The findings revealed that emotion regulation had a positive and significant influence on students' self-identity formation, whereas the intensity of TikTok social media use had a negative and significant influence. Simultaneously, both independent variables significantly influenced self-identity formation, with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.485, indicating that 48.5% of the variance in self-identity formation could be explained by the two variables. The findings are expected to serve as a basis for developing guidance and counseling services, provide insight for students in managing their emotions and using social media wisely, and serve as a reference for future researchers.

Abstract

Direct discharge of laundry wastewater without treatment causes negative environmental impacts due to high levels of Methylene Blue Active Substances (MBAS), phosphate, and ammonia. This study aims to utilize house blend coffee ground waste as a raw material for activated carbon activated with sulfuric acid (H2SO4) to reduce these pollutants. Coffee grounds were pyrolyzed at 200°C for 2 hours and activated with varying H2SO4 concentrations of 10% (AK10), 20% (AK20), and 30% (AK30). The activated carbon was characterized according to SNI 06-3730-1995, including moisture content, ash content, iodine number, functional groups (FTIR), and total carbon content, then applied to laundry wastewater in a batch system (dose 4 g/L, 200 rpm, 60 minutes). The results show that moisture content (0.1477-0.3751%) and ash content (8.9970-9.2211%) of all samples met the SNI standard, while the iodine number (116.96-132.735 mg/g) and total carbon content (43.26-60.27% w/w) did not meet the SNI minimum thresholds (750 mg/g and 65% w/w). FTIR analysis confirmed successful surface sulfonation, indicated by a sharp S-O absorption peak after activation. In the application stage, the highest reduction effectiveness for MBAS was achieved by AK20 at 58.86% (from 30.51 to 12.55 mg/L), for phosphate by AK30 at 29.20% (from 1.736 to 1.229 mg/L, meeting the 2 mg/L quality standard), and for ammonia by AK30 at 11.79% (from 10.94 to 9.650 mg/L, meeting the 10 mg/L quality standard). An activator concentration of 20-30% proved to be the optimum range, although the MBAS parameter did not reach the discharge standard due to the high initial pollutant load. This study demonstrates that H2SO4-activated house blend coffee ground activated carbon has potential as an environmentally friendly adsorbent for the pretreatment of laundry wastewater, with further optimization needed in pyrolysis temperature and contact time.

Abstract

Amidst the growing challenge of rising voter abstention (Golput) in every General Election (Pemilu), Civic Education serves as a strategic subject in political education, particularly for first-time voters. This study employs a content analysis method with a descriptive qualitative approach, using the political education material for first-time voters as the unit of analysis. The material is sourced from the Civic Education textbook for Higher Education published by the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) in 2016. The research findings reveal that: First, the Civic Education textbook for Higher Education contains one specific chapter that discusses elections. Second, the textbook generally emphasizes the importance of national identity and democracy, aligning with the students’ profile as learners. Third, specific and crucial issues in democracy-building—such as elections, the enrichment of technical election vocabulary, and discussions on corruption and other democratic problems need stronger emphasis in the future.
