Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental subject that plays an essential role in developing students' logical, critical, and analytical thinking skills. However, many elementary school students still experience difficulties in understanding the basic concepts of arithmetic operations, which affects their overall mathematics achievement. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of a mathematics tutoring program based on the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in strengthening elementary students' understanding of basic arithmetic operations. The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of 30 elementary school students who joined a mathematics tutoring program during the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) in Dusun Kebon Dewa, Desa Kalianyar, from June to July 2026. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) method. The findings revealed that the students' mean score increased from 55.17 on the pretest to 81.50 on the posttest, with an N-Gain value of 0.58, indicating a moderate level of improvement. These results demonstrate that the CTL-based mathematics tutoring program effectively improved students' understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division concepts by connecting mathematical learning with real-life situations and actively engaging students in meaningful learning experiences. Therefore, the program can serve as an effective non-formal learning strategy to strengthen elementary students' numeracy skills and conceptual understanding of mathematics.

Abstract

The utilization of digital technology in mathematics learning at the elementary school level has not been optimal, despite the availability of Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) facilities. This condition causes fraction learning to remain dominated by conventional methods, making abstract concepts difficult for students to understand. This study aimed to develop an interactive learning media entitled "Fraction Cake Shop" based on HTML5 and the GreenSock Animation Platform (GSAP) through the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach for fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Kragilan 03. The research apply the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects consisted of 18 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through validation sheets from media experts, material experts, instructional experts, and student response questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively using quantitative percentage techniques. The results showed that the media achieved a very valid category, with validation percentages of 92.83% from media experts, 87.4% from material experts, and 90% from instructional experts. Student responses reached 93.5% in the very good category, while the media usability aspect obtained 94.1% and the student response aspect obtained 91.0%. The media was able to present fraction concepts in a more concrete form, thereby facilitating students’ understanding of the material. In addition, it increased learning motivation, optimized the use of the Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) in the learning process, and developed students’ critical thinking skills and independence. Therefore, the "Fraction Cake Shop" learning media is considered feasible for use as a mathematics learning medium in elementary schools.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an important ability that needs to be developed among elementary school students to understand scientific phenomena and solve problems in everyday life. However, students’ scientific literacy remains a challenge, requiring learning models that can encourage active engagement and scientific thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on elementary school students’ scientific literacy through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research method follows the PRISMA 2020 guidelines by conducting the identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of relevant scientific articles. A total of 15 articles were analyzed based on research characteristics and the contribution of PBL implementation to scientific literacy. The results indicate that previous studies are predominantly quantitative research using experimental and quasi-experimental designs. The implementation of PBL provides a positive contribution to improving scientific literacy through problem-solving activities, scientific investigations, and contextual learning. Therefore, PBL can be considered an effective alternative learning model for developing scientific literacy skills among elementary school students.

Abstract

Economic pressure is one of the major challenges experienced by many church members, especially in communities that rely heavily on agriculture as their primary source of livelihood. Members of GMIT Salem Pasi frequently encounter economic difficulties caused by crop failure, unpredictable weather conditions, pest attacks, and unstable household income. These conditions affect not only their economic well-being but also their social, emotional, and spiritual lives. In such circumstances, the church has a pastoral responsibility to provide assistance that addresses the needs of congregation members holistically. This study aims to describe the church's pastoral ministry for congregation members experiencing economic pressure at GMIT Salem Pasi, identify the obstacles encountered in its implementation, and examine the changes experienced by congregation members after receiving pastoral assistance. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the pastor, deacons, and congregation members facing economic difficulties. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that pastoral assistance was implemented through pastoral visits, household worship services, pastoral oikos ministry, prayer meetings, pastoral counseling, diaconal services, and economic empowerment programs such as skills training and integrated farming. These ministries contributed positively to the congregation by strengthening faith, providing emotional comfort, increasing hope, and motivating members to persevere amid economic hardship. However, the church also faced several challenges, including limited financial resources, insufficient church personnel, geographical barriers, and the reluctance of some congregation members to openly discuss their economic struggles. The study concludes that holistic pastoral ministry plays a significant role in helping congregation members cope with economic pressure while strengthening their spiritual resilience and overall well-being.

Abstract

Character education in primary schools plays a crucial role that is imparted not only through classroom instruction, but also through daily routine habits practiced consistently (Rahmah, Suriansyah, & Harsono, 2025; Hidayati, 2020). However, in practice, the execution of daily activities in schools often remains merely an administrative routine and has not fully succeeded in deeply internalizing character values within students (Indrianingrum, Miyono, & Nurhayati, 2024). This condition necessitates more targeted management to ensure that daily habits genuinely have a significant impact on students' moral development (Suryadi & Maulida, 2023). This study aims to analyze in depth the implementation of character education through daily activities at SDN Ulu Benteng 4, Barito Kuala Regency, during the 2025/2026 academic year (Sugiyono, 2020). The main focus of this study is to identify the forms of activities, the character values instilled, as well as the obstacles and optimization efforts in shaping student character through daily habits in the school environment (Moleong, 2021). This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, involving the school principal, classroom teachers, and students as research subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, which were subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing (Miles, Huberman, & Saldana, 2014; Rahmah et al., 2025).The results showed that the implementation of character education at the school encompasses structured, unstructured, and specialized habitual activities that embody values such as discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect (Indrianingrum et al., 2024). Students demonstrated positive behavior through daily practices such as class duty shifts, a culture of greetings and polite behavior, and orderly queuing. Nevertheless, challenges persist, including a lack of implementation consistency, limited supervisors, and sub-optimal involvement from all school members (Rahmah et al., 2025). Therefore, daily activities need to be developed in a more innovative, reflective, and sustainable manner so that character internalization can be achieved.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject at SDN 11 Ampenan. The teacher centered learning approach resulted in students being less activelye engaged in the learning process, which led to a low level of conceptual understanding. One alternative to address this problem is the implementation of the Project Based learning (PjBL) model, which emphasizes students’ active participation throught Project Based Learning (PjBL) activities. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on the learning outcomes of fourth grade students in the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject at SDN 11 Ampenan. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimentresearch method with anon-equivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of all fourth grade students at SDN 11 Ampenan. Data were collected through test and observation. The data were analysed using validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, hypothesis testing (paired sample t-test), and N-Gain test to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the learning model. The results of the study indicated that the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model had a significant effect on students’ learning outcomes. The hypothesis test produced a significance value of 0,021 (< 0,05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis yielded an average score of 66,69% which was categorized as moderately effective. The implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model also improved students’ learning engagement, learning motivation, critical thinking skills, collaboration, communication, and active participation throughout the learning process. Based on these finding, it can be concluded that the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model is moderately effective in improving in the learning outcomes of fourth grade students in the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject at SDN 11 Ampenan.
