Abstract

Physical fitness and physical activity levels among Indonesian adolescents remain concerning, while Physical Education (PJOK) at the vocational high school (SMK) level tends to be positioned as a secondary subject due to strong vocational orientation. This study aims to examine the effect of integrating the Strava mobile fitness tracker application on learning interest and physical activeness of students at SMK Negeri 3 Selong in PJOK learning. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was employed, involving 60 students divided into an experimental group (n=30) using Strava in a structured manner for three to four weeks and a control group (n=30) following conventional PJOK instruction. Data were collected through a learning interest questionnaire, physical activeness observation sheets, and Strava activity logs, then analyzed using independent t-test or ANCOVA with Cohen’s d effect size calculation. This study is expected to provide empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of digital technology integration in PJOK learning at the vocational school level and serve as a reference for teachers and education policymakers in developing PJOK instruction that is adaptive to the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Quality management in higher education has shifted from merely meeting administrative standards to becoming a strategic instrument for maintaining global competitiveness. This article aims to systematically analyze the key determinants influencing the dynamics of quality management implementation in higher education institutions. Through a systematic literature review of 30 selected references, this study maps four crucial determinants: visionary leadership and organizational culture, information technology integration, faculty competence and engagement, and external regulatory pressures. The analysis shows that successful quality assurance cannot be achieved in isolation but requires a harmonious orchestration of managerial aspects, digital infrastructure readiness, and human resource commitment. This article provides a new theoretical contribution by viewing quality management as a dynamic and adaptive ecosystem to changing times. Abstract

The quality of athletics learning, particularly race walking, is strongly influenced by the instructional methods implemented by teachers. Conventional teacher-centered approaches often reduce students' participation, motivation, and mastery of basic movement skills. This study aimed to examine the effect of the play method on race walking learning outcomes among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Koto Baru. A quantitative approach was employed using a Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The participants consisted of 30 eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a race walking performance assessment and student activity observation sheets. Data analysis included normality testing, homogeneity testing, and paired-samples t-test. The findings revealed that students' mean learning outcome score increased from 57.50 on the pretest to 90.33 on the posttest. The paired-samples t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the play method significantly improved students' race walking learning outcomes. The play-based learning approach also enhanced students' engagement, motivation, confidence, and mastery of basic race walking techniques. The novelty of this study lies in integrating structured play activities into athletics instruction for junior high school students, demonstrating that enjoyable and student-centered learning effectively improves psychomotor achievement. These findings suggest that the play method can serve as an alternative instructional strategy for improving athletics learning quality in physical education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Structured Growth Reflection Workbook as a metacognitive scaffolding tool in improving Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) among elementary school students. The main issue underlying this research is the low level of student learning independence, characterized by high dependency on teacher direction, minimal learning targets, and low self-reflection skills. This study employed a mixed methods approach with an embedded experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest). The research sample consisted of fifth-grade students from a State Elementary School in Mojolaban District, Sukoharjo, Central Java, selected through a total sampling technique. The intervention was carried out through the implementation of a growth mindset-based reflective learning routine for four months. Quantitative data analysis utilized a paired sample t-test and Cohen's d to measure effect size, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed a significant increase in students' SRL scores () with a large effect size category, namely from a mean of 2.47 to 3.87. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of Zimmerman's SRL syntax and Dweck's growth mindset into a practical daily reflective workbook. The routine use of the workbook proved to facilitate students in internalizing the SRL stages through a systematic process of planning, monitoring, and self-evaluation. This product contributes to the development of a reflective learning model that can be integrated across various subjects in elementary schools to build sustainable learning independence.
