Abstract

Independent eating is a crucial self-care skill for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); however, many still rely on assistance from teachers or caregivers to complete the steps involved in eating. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the visual schedule technique in enhancing the eating independence of a child with autism at SLB Negeri 1 Takalar. A quantitative approach was employed using a Single-Subject Research (SSR) design (A-B-A), comprising baseline (A1), intervention (B), and baseline (A2) phases. Data were collected through observation and performance testing of a second-grade student with autism and subsequently analyzed using visual descriptive analysis (within-condition and between-condition). The results demonstrated that the implementation of the visual schedule progressively improved eating independence across all observed indicators. This improvement was evidenced by a positive trend, an increase in skill level, and a 0% overlap percentage, indicating a strong intervention effect. The acquired skills were maintained during the second baseline phase, despite a slight decline following the cessation of the intervention. Thus, the visual schedule technique is effective in fostering eating independence in children with autism and serves as a viable, structured self-care instructional strategy to support the development of daily living skills in a school setting.

Abstract

The low level of primary school students' numeracy skills in whole number addition, combined with the lack of relevant interactive learning media, underlies the necessity of this Research and Development (R&D) study. This study aims to develop "Math Pinball" media and evaluate its validity, effectiveness, and practicality in optimizing students' numeracy skills. Adopting Sugiyono's R&D framework integrated with the ADDIE model, the development process comprised seven distinct stages. The product was tested on second-grade students at SDN Ujung-Ujung 03. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, achievement tests (pretest and posttest), and response questionnaires, which were subsequently analyzed using quantitative descriptive statistics and a Paired Sample T-Test. The results demonstrated high validity, with material and media experts awarding scores of 93.18% and 95.8%, respectively, categorizing the product as "very high." In terms of effectiveness, a substantial improvement in numeracy skills was observed from pretest to posttest across three key indicators: identifying information (65% to 91%), determining solution strategies (64% to 92%), and calculating results (66% to 89%). The Paired Sample T-Test yielded a significance value of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.001 (p < 0.05), confirming a statistically significant positive impact on learning outcomes. Furthermore, the media achieved a high level of practicality, receiving a 97% approval rating from the teacher and 91% from students, categorizing it as "very practical." Consequently, the Mathematic Pinball media is proven to be valid, effective, and practical for reinforcing whole number addition numeracy in primary education.

Abstract

Narrative text learning in elementary schools is still dominated by teaching materials that do not specifically incorporate Acehnese local culture, resulting in less contextual learning and limited reinforcement of students’ cultural identity. This study aimed to describe the representation of Acehnese local cultural content in narrative text learning, identify how teachers integrate Acehnese local culture into the learning process, and describe students’ responses to local culture-based learning at UPTD SD Negeri 17 Peusangan. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving teachers and students of Grades III, IV, and V as the research participants. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the representation of Acehnese local cultural content in narrative text learning remained limited because the teaching materials used had not specifically included narrative texts based on Acehnese local culture. Nevertheless, teachers made efforts to integrate local culture by providing examples, explanations, discussions, and relating the learning materials to students’ daily lives. The integration was carried out by incorporating cultural values, customs, folktales, regional history, and Acehnese traditions into the learning process. In addition, all participating students showed positive responses toward local culture-based learning. The questionnaire results indicated that 100% of the students were more enthusiastic about learning when the narrative texts were related to Acehnese culture because they were considered more interesting, easier to understand, and closely connected to their daily experiences. Therefore, Acehnese local culture has great potential to be integrated into narrative text learning in order to create more contextual and meaningful learning while supporting the preservation of regional cultural heritage.

Abstract

Vertical jump height is a very important physical component for volleyball players. Good jumping ability is highly required to support an athlete's success when performing main techniques, such as smashes, blocks, and jump serves. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of plyometric training on the Vertical jump height of volleyball players through a literature review. This study uses a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach. During data collection, the researcher searched various scientific articles from national and international journals. The literature search was conducted through accredited databases like Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus, which were then analyzed using content analysis. Based on the review of 12 main articles, it is evident that regular plyometric training can consistently improve the athletes' Vertical jump height. The most frequently applied training forms include depth jumps, box jumps, hurdle jumps, and plyometric jump training (PJT). The training duration considered most effective usually runs between 6 and 12 weeks. This improvement occurs due to neuromuscular system adaptations and the optimization of the stretch-shortening cycle, which strongly boosts the explosive power of the lower leg muscles. In conclusion, plyometric training is a proven effective method to enhance the Vertical jumping ability of volleyball athletes. The results of this literature synthesis are expected to contribute insights and serve as a foundation for coaches in designing more optimal volleyball training programs.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the bilingual condition of the community at Paya Ilang Market, Takengon, where Gayo and Indonesian are used interchangeably in daily communication. It aims to describe the forms of code-switching and code-mixing, as well as the factors causing them, in the interactions between sellers and buyers at Paya Ilang Market. A qualitative descriptive method was applied. The data sources were the utterances of sellers and buyers, collected through observation, listening, recording, and note-taking techniques, and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that 19 instances of code-switching and 29 instances of code-mixing were found. The code-switching found was internal, namely the shift between Gayo and Indonesian, occurring mainly across sentences, within a single utterance, and between speakers. The code-mixing found mainly involved the insertion of Gayo particles, words, phrases, and expressions into Indonesian utterances. The factors causing code-switching and code-mixing include the interlocutor, language habits, familiarity, informal situations, and the speakers' ethnolinguistic background. It can be concluded that code-switching and code-mixing at Paya Ilang Market occur naturally in this bilingual community, functioning to ease communication, build familiarity, and adjust to the interlocutor and the situation. This study is expected to contribute to sociolinguistic studies on bilingual communities, particularly regarding code-switching and code-mixing in traditional market interactions.
