Abstract

This study examines the effect of deep learning approaches assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the critical thinking dimension of graduate profiles in elementary school mathematics, specifically on division operations. Using a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group, the study involved grade IV students as subjects. Data were collected through critical thinking tests validated through expert judgment and empirical trials. Reliability was tested using Cronbach's Alpha, yielding a coefficient of 0.817 (high category). Inferential analysis employed the Independent Sample T-Test following normality (Shapiro-Wilk) and homogeneity (Levene) tests. Results indicate a significant difference in posttest scores between the experimental group (deep learning with AI) and the control group (conventional). Students in the experimental class demonstrated higher ability to analyze, evaluate, infer, and communicate mathematical reasoning. AI-assisted deep learning positively influenced student engagement, motivation, and eco-digital literacy competence, supporting the formation of the Pancasila Student Profile, particularly critical thinking, independence, and reflective learning. These findings confirm that integrating AI technology in elementary mathematics effectively promotes higher-order thinking skills aligned with 21st-century education demands.

Abstract

Religious syncretism in Minangkabau is normatively framed within the philosophy of Adat Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah (ABS-SBK). This study examines the nazar (vow) tradition at the Tukji Sacred Tomb, Nagari Sialang Gaung, Dharmasraya, which remains academically unexplored. The central problem revolves around a fundamental theological tension: on one hand, traditionalist adat leaders and ulama legitimize the practice as a legitimate cultural heritage in accordance with syarak due to its function in preserving social cohesion and communal identity. On the other hand, puritan groups consider it a deviation from monotheism, bid'ah, and potentially shirk. This tension is compounded by the absence of scholarly inquiry that deeply captures the dynamics of meaning negotiation among stakeholders ninik mamak, ulama, tomb custodians, and pilgrims amid contemporary currents of religious purification. This research aims to: (1) describe the structure and symbolic meanings of the nazar tradition; (2) uncover the mechanisms of meaningful negotiation among stakeholders; and (3) analyze the theological and social implications of sustaining this syncretic tradition. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews with ten purposively selected key informants, and visual documentation. Findings reveal five interrelated forms of syncretism: structural, ritual, symbolic, ideological, and socio-cultural. Analysis reveals that syncretism operates as an adaptive strategy termed maslahah adaptive efforts by the community to preserve the essence of the tradition while adjusting controversial ritual elements in response to theological critiques. This research confirms that the nazar tradition is not passive cultural preservation, but rather an arena of active negotiation between Islamic teachings and local wisdom, serving to strengthen solidarity and communal identity amid changing religious discourse.

Abstract

Learning outcomes refer to the skills acquired by students after undergoing a series of instructional experiences provided by educators. These experiences comprehensively integrate the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Conceptually, learning outcomes represent the capabilities an individual gains through learning processes within an educational institution, as evidenced by learning evaluations. This study aimed to determine the differences in student learning outcomes when comparing an e-module based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with a direct instruction model regarding the topic of the nervous system. A quantitative approach utilizing a quasi-experimental design was employed. Simple random sampling was used to select the sample, while data were collected via tests and analyzed using N-gain and t-tests at a significance level of 0.05. The analysis revealed a difference in learning outcomes between the class using the PBL model and the class using the direct instruction model. Specifically, the average scores were 0.6888 or 68.88 for the PBL class and 0.1563 or 15.63 for the direct instruction class. Thus, the PBL model proved superior to direct instruction in enhancing learning outcomes. Based on the results and discussion, it is concluded that there is a difference in learning outcomes between the e-module based PBL model and the direct instruction model regarding the nervous system topic.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The teaching of explanatory text writing continues to face various challenges related to both students' writing abilities and instructional design. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze instructional needs as the foundation for designing a multimodal-based flipped classroom model for teaching explanatory text writing. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach supported by descriptive quantitative data. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, needs analysis questionnaires, and document analysis involving three Indonesian language teachers and 36 senior high school students from three public schools in Bandung Regency, Indonesia. Qualitative data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, while questionnaire data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages. The findings revealed that although teachers had implemented various student-centered learning models, students still experienced difficulties in generating ideas, organizing explanatory texts systematically, and comprehending learning materials. In addition, teachers had limited familiarity with the flipped classroom model and multimodal learning, whereas students demonstrated strong preferences for digital learning resources, particularly instructional videos. The instructional needs analysis further indicated that the design of the learning model should provide structured pre-class learning activities, integrate multimodal learning resources, and optimize classroom interactions through collaborative writing and feedback. These findings suggest that instructional needs analysis serves not only as an initial stage of instructional design but also as an empirical basis for determining instructional strategies, learning activities, and media selection. Consequently, the proposed multimodal-based flipped classroom model is expected to better accommodate the characteristics and learning needs of teachers and students in explanatory text writing instruction. Keywords: instructional needs analysis, flipped classroom, multimodal learning ABSTRAK Pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi masih menghadapi berbagai kendala, baik yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan peserta didik maupun desain pembelajaran yang digunakan guru.
