Abstract

Statistics learning in the classroom does not yet utilize relevant and effective technology to carry out various kinds of statistical computing. Apart from that, learning still prioritizes lecture methods and assignments in the form of practice questions at the end of learning, so this has an impact on statistics learning outcomes. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of applying the peer teaching method assisted by statistical software by controlling the numerical abilities of INSTIKI students. The sampling technique uses purposive random sampling with a factorial design. Data was collected using numerical ability test instruments and learning outcomes tests. Data were analyzed descriptively, prerequisite testing, and hypothesis testing. The research results concluded that there were differences in learning outcomes through the application of peer teaching methods assisted by statistical software after controlling for numerical abilities. From Anakova's test results, it is known that numerical ability contributes 67.7% to statistics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Learning activities in schools still lack teachers in using learning media, students still like to play during learning, and teachers still use conventional methods in explaining material, which can lead to a lack of understanding of concepts in students. Based on these problems, researchers developed creative and interesting media, as well as game-based media in the form of monopoly media. Monopoly media is a game-based educational media to help students grow their understanding of concepts which are structured based on indicators of concept understanding. The aim of this research is to determine the design and describe the level of efficiency of monopoly media on the theme of my food being developed. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) according to Thiagarajan (1974) which is limited to three stages, namely (1) Define, (2) Design, and (3) Develop. The results of the research are the design of the monopoly board media in the form of questions and information contained on the board and cards containing questions and information about my food which are arranged according to indicators of concept understanding. The monopoly media validation results from the validator were obtained at 92.11% in the "Very Valid" category. Meanwhile, the level of efficiency of monopoly media on the theme of my food for class VIII at SMP Cilegon obtained a result of 86.49% in the "Very Good" category so that media on monopoly can help students in growing their understanding of concepts in learning the theme of my food. Abstract

Interest in learning is a psychological aspect that influences every student in learning because the interest that students have will give rise to feelings of liking, interest, attention and involvement of students in learning activities without any compulsion. Based on the results of interviews at one of the schools in Cilegon City, it found that student's interest in learning was still relatively low because the teaching materials used by teachers were still relatively less varied and less interesting. This can be overcome by developing teaching materials in the form of science e-modules based on Google Slides. This research aimed to identify the level of validity of developing a Google Slides-based science e-module with the theme of global warming to foster students' interest in learning. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) according to Borg and Gall which is modified according to the needs of researchers and limited to the stages of design validation to product revision. The instrument used in this research was an expert validation questionnaire sheet which has been tested by instrument experts to determine the level of validity of the e-module being developed. Data was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of this research were based on the percentage of scores from experts, namely 91.1% in the "Very Valid" category. This shows that the Google Slides-based science e-module with the theme of global warming is very valid for fostering interest in learning for class VII middle school students.

Abstract

This research aimed to reveal and compare students' levels of boredom before, during, and after science learning, utilizing a quantitative approach with descriptive and comparative methods. The study included a sample of 188 students from MTsN 1 Sungai Penuh City, selected through purposive sampling. Data on student boredom during science learning were collected using the Academic Emotions Questionnaire: Class Related. This questionnaire comprises 80 statements, with 23 for before, 43 for during, and 14 for after participating in science learning. Each statement offers five alternative responses, ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. Subsequently, the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The research findings indicate that students' overall boredom in science learning falls within the medium category—before (2.14), during learning (2.55), and after science learning (2.40). ANOVA testing revealed a significant difference in boredom levels before, during, and after science learning. Notably, the highest saturation occurred during learning, followed by after and before learning. These results emphasize the need for teachers to consider discussions for each learning condition and factors contributing to student boredom when designing learning experiences. The ultimate goal is to minimize the level of boredom in science learning.

Abstract

This research aimed to provide a general overview of students' learning motivation in science at the junior high school level and to compare the level of learning motivation among students from three different schools: SMPN 27 Kerinci, MTsN 1 Sungai Penuh, and MTsS Siulak in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. The sample for this research consisted of 72 students, with 24 students from each school. The research utilized descriptive and comparative methods. Data on students' learning motivation were collected through the Students' Adaptive Learning Engagement in Science Questionnaire and analyzed descriptively and comparatively using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The results indicate that, overall, students exhibit high motivation to learn science, scoring 4.10 on a scale of 5.00. Additionally, students from the three different schools also demonstrated high average learning motivation, with scores of 4.26 (SMP N 27 Kerinci), 4.15 (MTsS Siulak), and 4.01 (MTsN 1 Sungai Penuh). Despite these differences, the Kruskal-Wallis statistical test revealed that the variations were not statistically significant (ρ=0.09). Furthermore, when examining each indicator separately, only one indicator, namely self-regulation (ρ=0.008), showed a significant difference. This distinction in self-regulation was influenced by students' perceptions regarding tasks in science learning, including their views on effort, persistence, punctuality, and a lack of discrimination regarding the form of tasks to be completed.
