Abstract

STEM literacy is an essential skill for students in the 21st century; however, its level remains relatively low among junior high school students. The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model offers a potential approach to improve this ability. This study aimed to analyze the effect of CTL on seventh-grade students’ STEM literacy and examine differences in STEM literacy improvement between students taught using CTL and Discovery Learning. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was employed. The participants were 74 seventh-grade students from a public junior high school in Serang City, divided equally into experimental and control classes. The instruments consisted of a STEM literacy test based on six indicators proposed by Pitiporntapin et al. (2023), an observation sheet, and a student response questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U test due to non-normal distribution. The results showed that CTL had a significant effect on students’ STEM literacy, with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05. A significant difference in STEM literacy improvement was also found between the experimental and control classes (0.000 < 0.05). CTL implementation reached 100%, while students’ responses were very positive, with an average score of 84.35%. These findings confirm that CTL is effective in enhancing STEM literacy among seventh-grade students in the context of environmental conservation around the school.

Abstract

Serangan hama seperti ini berkontribusi pada penurunan produksi kangkung (Ipomoea reptans Poir) di daerah Berau Belalang Kukus Hijau (Atractomorpha crenulate), Belalang Kumbara (Locusta migratoria), Ulat grayak (Plutella xylostella) dan Kepik kaki daun (Leptoglossus gonagra) yang menyebabkan daun layu dan berlubang. Studi semacam ini merupakan eksperimen yang dilakukan di lahan pertanian Jalam Tabalar Muara RT. 02, Kecamatan Tabalar, Kabupaten Berau memakai lima perlakuan dalam desain blok acak (RAK), termasuk T0 (kontrol), T1 (kombinasi ekstrak daun sukun dan daun kacapiring wangi 25%), T2 ((kombinasi ekstrak daun sukun dan daun kacapiring wangi 40%), T3 (kombinasi ekstrak daun sukun dan daun kacapiring wangi 55%), dan T4 (kombinasi ekstrak daun sukun dan daun kacapiring wangi 70%) dengan 5 pengulangan. Hasil analisis data Fhitung perlakuan secara berturut-turut sebesar (7,858) ˃ F blok dengan taraf penting 1%. Pengakajian data menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak daun sukun memiliki dampak yang signifikan. (Artocarpus altilis) dan kacapiring wangi (Gardenia jesminoides Ellis) tentang seberapa parah tanaman kangkung (Ipomoea reptans Poir) diserang oleh hama.

Abstract

This literature review examines the emerging integration between geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) and cyber warfare through an analysis of 23 peer-reviewed publications. The study traces the application of geospatial technologies, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial analysis, and geographic profiling, within cyber operations for threat detection, attribution, and strategic planning. The findings indicate that geographic profiling can associate up to 82 percent of cyber threats with recognizable spatial patterns, while spatio-temporal analysis provides insight into attack distribution patterns and their attribution processes. The reviewed studies demonstrate the relevance of GEOINT in military operations, critical infrastructure protection, and national security contexts. The analysis also reveals several limitations in the existing body of knowledge, particularly the absence of standardized frameworks, validated methodologies, and policy guidelines for GEOINT and cyber integration. The contribution of this review lies in synthesizing the existing empirical evidence, assessing methodological developments, and identifying research gaps that require further investigation. Its originality rests on presenting an assessment specifically directed at GEOINT-based approaches within cyber warfare research, a topic that remains underrepresented in the current literature.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low levels of creative thinking skills and academic achievement among students during instruction, which resulted in students’ limited understanding of the material and, consequently, low levels of creative thinking skills and academic achievement. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning model, supported by Educaplay media, on improving the creative thinking skills and learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 37 Samarinda. This study employs a quantitative approach with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population for this study consists of all seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 37 Samarinda. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. The sample consisted of students in Class VII-C as the experimental group and Class VII-A as the control group. The research instruments included tests to measure students’ creative thinking skills and learning outcomes. Data analysis techniques included normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis testing, and n-gain tests. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was found that the independent samples t-test -test for the Problem-Based Learning model supported by Educaplay media in improving creative thinking skills showed a significance value (0.000 < 0.05), and student learning outcomes also showed a significance value (0.000 < 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model supported by Educaplay media has an effect on improving the creative thinking skills and learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 37 Samarinda.

Abstract

The student achievement in science is characterized by low levels of student engagement, students’ lack of mastery of basic material, and the lack of implementation of media-assisted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the learning process. These conditions prompted this study, which aims to examine the implementation of media-assisted PBL using the Zep Quiz on student achievement in science for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Samarinda. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, with a total sample of 54 students comprising Class VII-6 as the control group and Class VII-7 as the experimental group. In the experimental class, the Problem-Based Learning model supported by the Zep Quiz media was implemented during the introductory activities as well as during the stages of analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process. Data analysis was conducted using the N-Gain test and the independent samples t-test. The analysis results showed that the average N-Gain scores in the control and experimental classes were in the moderate category, with values of 0,45 and 0,60, respectively. The results of the independent samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0,000 < 0,05, so H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model supported by the Zep Quiz media has an effect on student learning outcomes in 7th-grade science at SMP Negeri 4 Samarinda.

Abstract

Bioethanol has strategic significance for Indonesia because it integrates renewable energy policy, domestic agricultural resources, sugar industry performance, and national energy security. However, bioethanol cannot be positioned merely as a downstream fuel-blending agenda unless its upstream feedstock system has been verified through reliable data, quality standards, spatial readiness, and bankable supply contracts. This study analyzes the production challenges of bioethanol in supporting national energy self-sufficiency by developing a sequential upstream assessment covering sugarcane plantation distribution, the spatial distribution of 59 active sugar mills, provincial sugar production, actual national molasses production, the estimated molasses baseline for 2025-2026, and molasses trade dynamics.This study employs a descriptive qualitative method supported by a structured literature review. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s sugarcane and sugar production remain spatially concentrated, particularly in East Java and Lampung. Actual national molasses production was recorded at 1.471 million tons in 2020, increased to 1.686 million tons in 2023, and reached 1.636 million tons in 2024. Based on historical sugar-to-sugarcane and molasses-to-sugarcane ratios, baseline molasses availability is estimated at 1.706 million tons in 2025 and 1.773 million tons in 2026. Nevertheless, this volume cannot automatically be regarded as bankable feedstock for bioethanol, since molasses is also absorbed by existing domestic industries and export markets.This article concludes that Indonesia requires a verified national molasses balance, quality-based molasses governance, and stronger integration between sugar and energy policies so that bioethanol can contribute reliably to national energy self-sufficiency.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are an essential competency that needs to be developed in chemistry learning; however, conventional methods are considered suboptimal in facilitating the achievement of this competency. The Sorogan-Bandongan learning model, rooted in the pesantren tradition, emerges as an innovative alternative that synergistically integrates individual and classical approaches. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Sorogan-Bandongan model in improving students' critical thinking skills on acid-base material compared to conventional learning. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, in which critical thinking skills were measured through four indicators: interpretation, analysis, inference, and explanation. The implementation of the model was assessed through observations across all meetings, yielding an average mode of ≥ 4, indicating that the model was carried out very well. The improvement of critical thinking skills in the class using the Sorogan-Bandongan model was higher than in the class using conventional methods, supported by the N-Gain Scores of the experimental class: interpretation indicator at 0.90, analysis indicator at 0.94, inference indicator at 0.89, and explanation indicator at 0.73. Meanwhile, the control class N-Gain Scores were: interpretation indicator at 0.69, analysis indicator at 0.60, inference indicator at 0.62, and explanation indicator at 0.72. The application of the Sorogan-Bandongan model is considered to facilitate students' understanding of acid-base material and enhance their active participation in learning. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Sorogan-Bandongan model is more effective as an innovative alternative compared to conventional methods for improving critical thinking skills in chemistry learning, particularly on the topic of acid-base.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of students' creative thinking skills in chemistry lessons, which tend to be teacher-centered and emphasize theoretical mastery of concepts. Furthermore, colloidal systems are considered difficult to understand due to their abstract nature and lack of relevance to everyday life. Therefore, contextual learning is needed through the integration of ethnoscience and local culture. This study aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective ethnoscience-based chemistry learning tool for colloidal systems, specifically petis rujak cingur, to enhance students' creative thinking skills. This research is a developmental study using the ADDIE model. A trial was conducted at Hang Tuah 1 High School, Surabaya, in the odd semester of the 2025–2026 academic year using a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The learning tool was validated by two Science Education lecturers and two Science teachers. Data collection techniques included observation and tests. The results showed that the developed learning tool was declared valid based on the validator's review. The practicality of the device is demonstrated through the implementation of learning with a percentage of 76% and 80% in the implemented category. The effectiveness of the device is seen from the increase in the pre-test and post-test results of students' creative thinking skills with an average pre-test score of 57.7429 and a post-test score of 82.5714. The results of the paired sample t-test obtained a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05) which indicates a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. In addition, the N-Gain value of 0.5878 is in the moderate category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the ethnoscience-based chemistry learning device of rujak cingur petis on the colloidal system material is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Pest infestations are one of the limiting factors in the cultivation of pull-up spinach, which can reduce crop quality and productivity. Pest control methods that still rely heavily on chemical pesticides have the potential to disrupt the environmental balance. The development of botanical pesticides is an approach that continues to be studied as a more ecological method of pest control. The stems of brotowali and the leaves of belimbing wuluh are known to contain bioactive compounds that have the potential to be utilized as botanical pesticide ingredients. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of extracts from brotowali stems (Tinospora crispa L.) and belimbing wuluh leaves (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) on the intensity of pest insect attacks on Maestro variety spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) plants, as well as to determine the optimal concentration of the combination. This study is an experimental study using a non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five treatment levels, namely 0% (control), 15%, 30%, 45%, and 60%, with five replicates. The observed parameter was the intensity of insect pest attacks based on the level of leaf damage at 14, 19, 24, 29, dan 34 day after sowing. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at a 1% significance level. The results of the study showed that the calculated F-value at all observation time was greather than the critical F-value at the 1% level, thus the combination of brotowali stem extract and belimbing wuluh leaf extract had a highly significant effect on the intensity of pest insect attacks on Maestro variety spinach. The 60% concentration proved be the most effective in suppressing the intensity of pest insect attacks.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between reproductive health knowledge and attitudes toward the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases among students. This study employs a quantitative approach using a correlational method. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires to students as research respondents. The obtained data were analyzed using normality tests and correlation product moment tests. The results indicate that the data are normally distributed. Based on the results of correlation product moment test, a correlation coefficient of 0.449 was obtained, which falls into the moderate category, indicating a positive relationship of moderate strength between reproductive health knowledge and attitudes toward the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases among students. This positive relationship suggests that the higher the level of reproductive health knowledge students possess, the better their attitudes toward preventing sexually transmitted diseases. The moderate strength of the association indicates that knowledge of reproductive health is not the only factor influencing attitudes toward the prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
