Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya literasi Bioteknologi siswa menjadi tantangan dalam pembelajaran abad ke-21, terutama pada materi Bioteknologi yang masih terkendala keterbatasan alat, bahan, dan waktu praktikum di laboratorium. Salah satu solusi yang dapat diterapkan adalah pengembangan virtual laboratory isolasi DNA Kokoleceran sebagai tanaman endemik Banten untuk melatih literasi Bioteknologi siswa kelas IX. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat validitas virtual laboratory dan tingkat respon siswa terhadap virtual laboratory yang dikembangkan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research & Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, & Evaluation). Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa lembar angket validasi dan angket respon siswa. Tingkat validitas produk diukur menggunakan lemar angket validasi ahli yang divalidasi oleh tiga dosen ahli materi, tiga dosen ahli media, dan tiga guru mata pelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini melibatkan 75 siswa kelas IX sebagai responden untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat respon siswa terhadap virtual laboratory. Tingkat validitas virtual laboratory yang dinilai oleh validator ahli materi sebesar 84,42% dengan kategori valid, ahli media 81,94% dengan kategori valid, dan guru IPA 96,11% dengan kategori sangat valid. Tingkat respon siswa memperoleh sebesar 88,63% dengan kategori sangat baik.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a diagnostic test instrument on redox reactions to serve as a placement test for the Sorogan-Bandongan learning model. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method, following procedures that included a needs assessment, instrument development, expert validation, revision, and testing. The instrument, consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions, demonstrated a content validity of 0.91 and a construct validity of 0.92. Trial results involving 30 students indicated that all test items were valid, with a Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.933. The instrument also exhibited good to excellent discrimination power and a moderate difficulty level. Based on these results, the instrument is deemed valid, reliable, and suitable for use as a placement test to identify students' prior knowledge within the Sorogan-Bandongan learning model.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an essential competency that enables students to understand scientific concepts, solve problems, and make evidence-based decisions in response to the rapid development of science and technology. However, students' scientific literacy skills still need to be improved through the implementation of innovative learning models. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Learning Cycle 7E model on the scientific literacy skills of Phase E students in biology learning on the topic of climate change at SMA Negeri 8 Kota Jambi. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent control group design. Data were collected through a scientific literacy test that had met validity and reliability requirements and were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, linearity, homogeneity of regression, and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) tests. The results showed that students in the experimental class achieved higher scientific literacy scores than those in the control class. ANCOVA analysis indicated that the Learning Cycle 7E model had a significant effect on scientific literacy skills of students (p = 0.019 < 0.05), with a Partial Eta Squared value of 0.079, indicating a medium effect size. Therefore, the Learning Cycle 7E model can be considered an effective alternative for improving students' scientific literacy in biology learning, particularly on the topic of climate change.

Abstract

Penyakit ikan yang disebabkan oleh bakteri dan jamur patogen, seperti Aeromonas salmonicida dan Saprolegnia, merupakan ancaman serius bagi budidaya perairan tawar; namun, sifat antibakteri dan antijamur dari Caesalpinia sappan L. (kayu sappan) menawarkan solusi potensial. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi potensi dan efektivitas ekstrak Caesalpinia sappan L., yang memiliki aktivitas antimikroba terhadap patogen yang menyerang ikan air tawar. Aktivitas antibakteri dan antijamur dinilai menggunakan metode difusi cakram dan sumur pada konsentrasi ekstrak 1%, 5%, dan 10%, dengan siprofloksasin dan ketokonazol sebagai kontrol positif untuk bakteri dan jamur, masing-masing. Analisis melibatkan pengamatan dan pengukuran zona inhibisi yang dihasilkan terhadap bakteri dan jamur yang diuji. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi 5% ekstrak Caesalpinia sappan L. menunjukkan aktivitas penghambatan yang sangat kuat terhadap pertumbuhan A. salmonicida, sedangkan konsentrasi 10% menunjukkan aktivitas penghambatan yang sangat kuat terhadap Saprolegnia. Kesimpulannya, ekstrak Caesalpinia sappan L. menunjukkan kemampuan antijamur dan antibakteri yang signifikan pada konsentrasi 10% dan 5%, termasuk dalam kategori penghambatan "sangat kuat". Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak Caesalpinia sappan L. memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan sebagai agen terapeutik alami yang ramah lingkungan untuk pengelolaan penyakit di industri akuakultur.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to develop and evaluate the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of a STEM-PjBL-based simple spectrophotometer practicum kit for detecting palm oil adulteration with used cooking oil and improving students’ science process skills. The study employed a Research and Development method using the ADDIE model and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The product consisted of a practicum kit, a guidebook containing student worksheets, and a web application. The implementation involved 24 Chemistry Education students at the University of Bengkulu. Feasibility was examined through expert validation, Aiken’s V, and a limited trial, whereas effectiveness was evaluated using normalized gain, the Shapiro-Wilk test, a paired samples t-test, and paired Cohen’s d. Expert validation yielded a feasibility score of 85.23% (highly feasible), Aiken’s V values of 0.83–1.00, and a limited-trial score of 94.64%. The kit readings showed a very strong relationship with the UV-Vis reference data at 338 nm (R²=0.9980; RMSE=0.0279). The mean science process skills score increased from 14.00 to 30.25, with a normalized gain of 0.74. Difference scores were normally distributed (p=0.138), and the paired t-test indicated a significant improvement, t (24) =15.901, p<0.001, with a very large effect size (d=3.246). The kit was highly feasible and demonstrated preliminary effectiveness for instrumental analytical chemistry practice; however, the absence of a control group limits causal generalization.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a physics module on sound waves based on traditional musical instruments, namely the gong and tambur of Sabu Raijua, to improve students’ critical thinking skills. This research is a type of Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of the study were students of class XI H at SMA Negeri 1 Hawu Mehara. The instruments used included expert validation sheets, response questionnaires, and critical thinking tests. The results showed that the module is highly valid, with a material expert score of 91% and a media expert score of 85%. It is also highly practical, as indicated by small group testing at 95%, large group testing at 93%, and teacher responses at 97%. Furthermore, the module is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills, with an N-gain score of 0.8, categorized as high.

Abstract

Digital literacy skills are one of the importantant competencies that students need too have to keep up with technological developments and support learning in the digital era. However, based on observations, the digital literacy skills of middle school students are consideres low. The use of learning media is not yet optimal, lacks interactivity, and has not taken full advantage of digital technology potential in science learning. One solution is by providing digital learning media that can present material in an interactive, contextual, and relevant way to the students’environment. This study aims to describe the ectent of validity and student responses to alearning website on the material of elements, compounds, and maxtures in Jojorong Banten cake to facilitate digital literacy skills for junior high school students. The method used is Research and Developments (R&D) wit the ADDIE model, limited up to the implementation stage. The instruments used were validation sheets and student response questionnaires. The product validity level was measured using validation sheets validated by three content expert lecturers, three media expert lecturers, and three junior high school science teachers, after the instruments had previously been validated by an instrument expert (judgment). The validation results showed that the content expert got 94.87%, the media expert 89.23% and the junior high school science teacher 90.19%, all rated as “Very Valid”. After ome revisions, a limited trial was done to see the students’responses, which scored 87.14%, rated as a “Very Good”. This shows that the learning website designed to support digital literacy skills meets the validity criteria and got positive feedback from students as a learning tool thah helps junior high school students improve their digital literacy skills.

Abstract

Tandan buah kosong (EFB) kelapa sawit merupakan limbah lignoselulosa yang berpotensi sebagai bahan baku bioetanol; namun, hidrolisatnya miskin nutrisi (N, P, K), yang menghambat pertumbuhan dan aktivitas fermentasi Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan pengaruh pupuk NPK dan KCl terhadap pertumbuhan S. cerevisiae, mengidentifikasi perbedaan signifikan antara kedua sumber nutrisi tersebut terhadap kandungan bioetanol, dan menentukan rasio nutrisi NPK-terhadap-KCl yang optimal untuk produksi bioetanol dari EFB. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (CRD) dengan enam perlakuan: kontrol (P0) dan rasio KCl:NPK 4:0 (P1), 3:1 (P2), 2:2 (P3), 1:3 (P4), dan 0:4 (P5), masing-masing dengan empat ulangan. Fermentasi dilakukan selama 7 hari pada pH 4 dan suhu ruangan. Pertumbuhan ragi diukur menggunakan OD600, sedangkan kandungan bioetanol diukur menggunakan refraktometer. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA Satu Arah diikuti dengan uji HSD Tukey pada tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa nilai OD meningkat pada semua perlakuan, dengan nilai tertinggi pada rasio 2:2 (0,789) dan terendah pada kontrol (0,331). ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa variasi rasio KCl terhadap NPK memiliki pengaruh yang sangat signifikan terhadap kandungan bioetanol (F(5,18) = 41,830; p < 0,001). Uji HSD Tukey mengelompokkan perlakuan menjadi tiga subkelompok: kontrol (11,6%) berbeda secara signifikan dari semua perlakuan yang diberi suplemen nutrisi; rasio 4:0 (13,3%) membentuk subkelompok terpisah; Sementara rasio 0:4, 3:1, 1:3, dan 2:2 (14,4–15,3%) tidak berbeda secara signifikan satu sama lain tetapi berbeda secara signifikan dari kontrol dan rasio 4:0. Kandungan bioetanol tertinggi diperoleh pada rasio 2:2 (15,3%). Disimpulkan bahwa nutrisi KCl dan NPK memengaruhi pertumbuhan S. cerevisiae dan menghasilkan perbedaan signifikan dalam kandungan bioetanol dari EFB, dengan rasio KCl:NPK 2:2 direkomendasikan sebagai yang paling optimal.

Abstract

Oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) are lignocellulosic biomass waste with potential as a second-generation bioethanol feedstock, but their conversion requires a pretreatment atage to open the lignocellulosic structure before hydolysis and fermentation. This study compared the effect of four pretreatment types — distilled water (control, K), NaOH 5% (P1), citrus-peel eco-enzyme (P2), and a combination of NaOH 5% with eco-enzyme (P3) — on the reducing sugar content and bioethanol yield of OPEFB, and evaluated the potential of eco-enzyme as a more environmentally friendly alternative to NaOH. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and six replications was used. Reducing sugar content was measured semi-quantitatively using the Benedict test (ordinal scale 1–5) and analyzed with the Kruskal-Wallis test, while bioethanol content was measured with an alcohol refractometer following distillation. The highest mean reducing-sugar score was obtained in P1 (4.00), and the Kruskal-Wallis test showed a significant difference among treatments (H = 9.493; df = 3; p = 0.023). However, the resulting bioethanol content did not differ significantly among treatments (H = 3.644; df = 3; p = 0.303), with P1 (16.07%) only slightly higher than P3 (16.03%) and P2 (15.63%). These results indicate that NaOH provided the highest delignification effectiveness, but this was not followed by a significant difference in final bioethanol content, so citrus-peel eco-enzyme has potential as a more environmentally friendly pretreatment alternative that yields bioethanol comparable to NaOH.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Student Worksheet (LKPD) based on the High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) approach on the topic of Work and Energy, and to determine the validity and practicality of the developed LKPD. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were eleventh-grade science students at SMA Negeri 1 Hawu Mehara. The instruments used in this study included validation sheets from material experts and LKPD experts, as well as questionnaires to collect responses from teachers and students. The validation results showed that the HOTS-based LKPD was categorized as valid, with a score of 80% from material experts and 71% from LKPD experts. The LKPD was also declared practical by teachers and students, as indicated by the small-group trial result of 87%, the large-group trial result of 89%, and teacher responses reaching 98%. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively using a rating scale to determine the levels of validity and practicality of the product. The LKPD has several advantages, including its connection of the material to real-life situations, attractive presentation, and ability to make students more active and interested in learning physics. Therefore, the HOTS-based LKPD on the topic of Work and Energy is highly feasible to be used as a teaching material in physics learning to support students’ higher-order thinking skills.
