Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation and role of the modern dance extracurricular activity in developing students movement creativity at one of senior high schools in Semarang. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants included sixteen students observed during extracurricular activity, while in-depth interviews were conducted with the leader, secretary, and coach. The research results show that extracurricular activities are conducted regularly through several training stages. These stages include warming up, repetition of movement material, exploration of movement variations, and choreography preparation for performance needs. The training process gives students the opportunity to explore movement ideas, improvise, and create movement variations both independently and in groups. This activity encourages the development of students movement creativity through the ability to combine various dance styles and creatively process accompanying music. In addition, the modern dance extracurricular activity also helps to enhance students’ self-confidence, responsibility, and teamwork skills. The modern dance extracurricular activity serves as and effective platform for students to develop their movement creativity while also supporting their social and psychological development.

Abstract

Ensuring primary school teachers possess adequate competency standards is a fundamental necessity for achieving quality educational outcomes, yet sharp gaps in professional execution persist in the field. Professional competence does not stand alone but is rather the result of the accumulation of various other dimensions of ability, including pedagogical competence and personality competence. The primary objective of this study is to empirically analyze the influence of pedagogical competence and personality competence on teacher professional competence, as well as to examine the role of organizational culture as a moderating variable in this relationship. This quantitative research with a causal associative design was conducted systematically in Serang City during the first and second weeks of May 2026. The target population comprised elementary school teachers, from which a sample of 117 respondents was selected using a combination of convenience and quota sampling techniques. Criteria for selection required a minimum Bachelor's degree (S1) and two years of institutional tenure. Data collection was carried out using anonymous, structures online questionnaires based on a five-point Likert scale, which were pre-tested and declared highly reliable (Cronbach's Alpha > 0.80). The compiled data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis through hierarchical Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). ThThe results show that pedagogical competence and personality competence are crucial determinants that exert a positive and significant direct influence on improving the professional competence of elementary school teachers. Statistical estimation demonstrates that pedagogical competence holds the most dominant direct impact (β = 0.475, p < 0.001), followed by personality competence (β = 0.292, p = 0.001), and a direct contribution from organizational culture (β = 0.214, p = 0.004). The overall model exhibits high predictive validity and statistical fit (R2 = 0.570, F-test p < 0.001), explaining 57.0% of the variance in professional competence. On the other hand, organizational culture has not been proven to significantly moderate the relationship between individual competence and professional competence, indicated by non-significant interaction coefficients for both pedagogical (β = 0.039, p = 0.592) and personality paths (β = 0.049, p = 0.478). The model's explanatory change was minor (ΔR2 = 0.006), confirming that adding the interaction fields adds a negligible 0.6% to the model. This implies that teacher professionalism operates with high intrinsic autonomy and is driven more by individual capacity rather than environmental or organizational fluctuations.

Abstract

Higher education plays a strategic role in promoting social mobility and equal opportunity; however, policy transformation through State Universities with Legal Entity status (PTN-BH) has introduced new dynamics in the relationship between institutional autonomy, access to education, and social justice. This study aims to critically examine the construction of the PTN-BH policy and its implications for access to higher education and social justice in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative approach using a Critical Literature Review (CLR) design, analyzing journal articles indexed in SINTA and Scopus from 2018 to 2025. The analysis is conducted through a semi-systematic literature selection process, thematic coding, and critical synthesis, guided by the frameworks of distributive justice, the capability approach, and social reproduction theory. The findings indicate that the PTN-BH policy reflects a shift from state-centered governance to market-oriented governance, resulting in a form of hybrid governance. While institutional autonomy encourages funding diversification, it simultaneously increases educational costs and reliance on student contributions. This condition leads to a pattern of selective inclusion, in which access to higher education remains formally open but is substantively filtered by economic capacity. Furthermore, the policy contributes to the reproduction of social inequality, as financial resources increasingly determine access to higher education. Overall, the PTN-BH policy reveals a structural tension between efficiency and social justice. Without adequate redistributive mechanisms, this policy risks reinforcing stratified access and shifting the role of higher education from a vehicle of social mobility to a mechanism of inequality reproduction. Therefore, policy reformulation is required to balance institutional autonomy with the principles of social justice in order to achieve a more inclusive and sustainable higher education system.

Abstract

Education in Southeast Asian countries continues to evolve in line with the demands of globalization and the need for competitive human resources. Indonesia and the Philippines are two countries that place significant emphasis on developing basic education as a foundation for developing 21st-century competencies. Indonesia is currently implementing the Independent Curriculum, which emphasizes learning flexibility, differentiated learning, and strengthening student character through the Pancasila Student Profile. Meanwhile, the Philippines implements the K-12 curriculum designed to align the national education system with international standards and prepare graduates for continuing their education and entering the workforce. This study aims to analyze and compare the structure of elementary school curricula in Indonesia and the Philippines, including educational objectives, subject structure, learning load, and competency orientation. The method used is a comparative study with a qualitative approach through an analysis of curriculum policy documents in both countries. The results of the study indicate that although both curricula share the same goal of improving the quality of basic education, there are significant differences in the emphasis on curriculum flexibility, learning approaches, and orientation to learning outcomes. These findings are expected to serve as reflection and reference material in the development of elementary education curriculum policies in the Southeast Asian region.

Abstract

Religious tolerance is one of the fundamental values that supports social harmony in multicultural societies and plays a crucial role in creating inclusive educational environments. Teachers, as key agents in education, are expected to demonstrate tolerant attitudes that promote respect for religious diversity among students. However, empirical studies quantitatively mapping teachers' religious tolerance at the public junior high school level remain limited. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the level and distribution of teachers' religious tolerance at SMP Negeri 2 Somagede. This study employed a quantitative descriptive design involving 17 teachers selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a religious tolerance questionnaire consisting of 26 valid items across six dimensions. The instrument demonstrated excellent reliability with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.961. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with IBM SPSS Statistics, while respondents' scores were categorized based on the Ideal Mean (Mi) and Ideal Standard Deviation (SDi) approach proposed by Azwar (2021). The results showed that teachers' religious tolerance was generally high, with a mean score of 116.65 (SD = 12.84). Based on the categorization results, 94.1% of teachers were classified in the high category and 5.9% in the moderate category, while none were classified in the low category. Among the six dimensions, Interreligious Collaboration achieved the highest mean per-item score (M = 4.68), whereas Openness to Interreligious Interaction and Dialogue obtained the lowest (M = 4.27), although both remained within the high category. These findings provide an empirical baseline for evaluating and strengthening school-based religious moderation and multicultural education programs in public junior high schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the Morning Talk program as a learning innovation in instilling Qur’anic character in elementary school students in the era of globalization. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach conducted at SD IT Insan Mandiri Cendikia Palembang, involving six Islamic Education and tahsin teachers as subjects. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that teachers have a comprehensive understanding of Qur’anic character, which encompasses not only the ability to read and memorize the Qur’an but also the application of its values in daily life. The implementation of the Morning Talk program is carried out routinely every morning through activities such as congregational Dhuha prayer, Qur’an recitation review, memorization, reflection on verses, and the delivery of advice and motivation. The program effectively instills values such as faith, discipline, honesty, responsibility, and social awareness. However, challenges include the influence of social media and the lack of parental support. The program has a positive impact on students’ behavior, making them more disciplined, polite, and enthusiastic in engaging with the Qur’an. Therefore, Morning Talk serves as a strategic learning innovation in developing students’ Qur’anic character, with the need for synergy between schools, families, and the community to ensure its sustainability.
