Abstract

The main objective of this study was to analyze and determine the effect of the functional training method on increasing arm power in female basketball athletes at SMAN 6 Cimahi. This research aimed to provide a more specific training alternative to improve explosive power which is crucial for basketball technical skills. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (single-group pretest-posttest design). The research subjects consisted of 15 female basketball athletes selected through purposive sampling. The intervention was carried out for 9 weeks with a frequency of 2 sessions per week, consisting of an anatomical adaptation phase and a progressive load phase. The measurement tool used was the Medicine Ball Throw Test (3 kg). Data analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed a significant increase in arm strength after the intervention. The average score increased from 2.3840 meters in the pre-intervention test to 2.7020 meters in the post-intervention test, showing an average increase of 0.318 meters or 13.34%. Statistical analysis using the Paired Samples T-test yielded a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This study concludes that the functional training method significantly improves arm power in female basketball athletes. This method is effective in optimizing neuromuscular adaptation and the kinetic chain, which directly impacts the explosive power required for shooting and passing in basketball. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop an efficient training model to improve kicking power in pencak silat athletes. The study implemented the TCSSM method to enhance lower-limb muscle strength over 16 training sessions. This method involved strength training with time-controlled sets, using 60%–80% of 1RM, 4–5 sets with repetitions based on maximum capacity calculations, and 45–60 seconds of rest between sets. Prior to the training program, a 1RM Leg Press test was conducted to assess the athletes’ physical readiness and performance capacity. The results showed an increase in the average lower-limb muscle strength measured through the 1RM leg-press test, from a pre-test mean of 56.44 kg to a post-test mean of 81.72 kg, with an improvement of +25 kg or 44%. These findings indicate that the training intervention was effective in increasing maximal lower-limb muscle strength, with a significant upward trend observed throughout the study. The study further demonstrated that the combination of TRX training and the TCSSM method significantly improved the lower-limb muscle strength of pencak silat athletes by 44%. Post-training results suggest neuromuscular adaptation and muscle hypertrophy that positively contributed to the athletes’ explosive power performance. Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of a Movement Education approach based on forward rolls on the development of children's basic motor skills. This research utilizes Classroom Action Research (CAR) following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages involving 20 students at SDN 1 Sukagalih. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired sample t-tests, and normality tests. The results showed a significant improvement in motor performance; the average running score increased from 56.85 to 84.55, and throwing from 35.00 to 57.00. Statistical analysis confirmed significant differences in the running and throwing variables (p < 0.05), although the jumping variable did not show a statistically significant change (p = 0.914). The Movement Education approach effectively improves basic motor skills, particularly in coordination and agility, through active and explorative learning experiences. Theoretically, this study supports the integration of movement education concepts into physical education. Practically, the modification of tools—such as inclined mats—can overcome facility limitations and increase student confidence, making it a recommended innovative model for elementary school physical education.
