Abstract

This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai, which is caused by less effective conventional learning methods. The purpose of this study is to improve the reading comprehension ability of grade V students through the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model. The method used in this study is classroom action research (PTK) which is carried out in three cycles, where each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data was collected through observation, student worksheets (LKS), and reading comprehension tests. The results show that the application of the CIRC model significantly improves students' reading comprehension skills. In the first cycle, the average score of students' reading comprehension was 67.27, with 70% of students achieving a score above the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). In the second cycle, the average score increased to 77.76, with 80% of students achieving scores above the KKM. In the third cycle, the average score reached 83.2, and 90% of students successfully met the KKM. In addition, observations showed increased student engagement and motivation during the learning process, where students were more active in participating in group discussions and reading activities, as well as showing higher self-confidence. The conclusion of this study is that the CIRC model has proven to be effective in improving students' reading comprehension skills. The application of this model not only improves learning outcomes, but also encourages activeness, collaboration, and communication between students. Students show a greater interest in reading and are better able to understand the reading material. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers apply the CIRC model as an alternative in learning to read in the classroom, in order to improve the quality of education and overall student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Geography skills are abilities that need to be mastered, because they are useful in understanding the relationship between humans and the environment and can train students to think systematically in dealing with environmental and social issues. The advantage of the inquiry learning model lies in its ability to stimulate students to think critically in analyzing phenomena while honing observation and data interpretation skills. This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry learning model on geography skills of grade X students of SMA Panjura Malang. This research applied pseudo-experimental method. The subjects were taken using random sampling technique with X2 class as the experimental class and X4 class as the control class. Data was collected using Post-Test Only Control Group Design. The results revealed that the average Post-Test of geography skills of experimental class students with guided inquiry treatment was higher (88.83) compared to the control class (71.33). The results of hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney U-Test method show the results of Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, which indicates a significant difference in the Post Test scores of the two classes. Thus the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, so it can be concluded that the application of guided inquiry model has a significant effect on the mastery of geography skills. This study also found that the investigation stage is the most dominant stage affecting geography skills.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the essential abilities that every student needs to possess in order to face the challenges of the ever-changing times. However, the opposite is often found, as various difficulties and obstacles lead to low levels of students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of the flipped Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' critical thinking skills in fifth-grade mathematics at elementary schools. The method employed was experimental (quasi-experiment) with a posttest-only control group design. Data were collected using a test instrument in the form of essay questions. Data analysis was conducted through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests to examine the differences in the average critical thinking skills of each group, assisted by SPSS version 27. The t-test results showed a significance value of 0.012, which is lower than 0.05, indicating that the hypothesis is accepted. The findings revealed a significant difference in students' critical thinking skills between the group using the flipped PBL model and the group using the expository model. This research demonstrates that students who learned using the flipped PBL model exhibited better critical thinking skills compared to those who learned using the expository model.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of descriptive sentences based on social inclusion in learning in elementary schools. Descriptive writing skills are very important for elementary school students to have. P5 activities aim to shape students' character and abilities through contextual learning experiences. In a situation like this, making a poster is one thing that can be done. Descriptive writing skills are very important when creating posters because posters are a visual medium that is often used to convey information, and descriptive writing can provide an in-depth explanation of the topic being presented. The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, namely by making observations during the process of making posters in class, in-depth interviews with teachers as the main source of information, and documentation. The focus of the research is to determine students' skills in making descriptive sentences with the theme "I Like Cassava" through poster making activities. This research discusses how teachers accompany dyslexic students. Social inclusion is found in the teacher's role in accompanying all students regardless of background. The research results showed that all students, both regular and dyslexic, were able to compose descriptive sentences well and successfully combined them into creative posters. It's just that of the four existing indicators, there is one indicator, namely the accuracy of spelling and capital letters, which students have not been able to fulfill. These findings indicate that a social inclusion-based learning approach not only improves students' academic abilities but also strengthens attitudes regardless of background in the classroom. So, these activities work well to create an inclusive learning environment.
