Abstract

The skill of handwriting, particularly in the form of cursive writing, plays a crucial role in the cognitive and motor development of elementary school students. This study aims to analyze the needs of both teachers and students in relation to innovative models for teaching cursive writing in elementary schools. The research was conducted at SDN 01 Tunggulrejo, focusing on the challenges faced by fifth-grade students who show a diverse range of abilities in cursive handwriting. The study employed a qualitative approach, using interviews, surveys, and class observations to collect data. The findings reveal that the current model of teaching cursive writing is largely conventional and ineffective in meeting the diverse needs of students. Most teachers expressed the need for more innovative, flexible, and technology-integrated models to enhance the effectiveness of handwriting instruction. Additionally, students face difficulties in maintaining consistency in letter formation and writing speed, which highlights the necessity for more interactive and engaging learning strategies. The study concludes that incorporating digital tools, educational games, and teacher training can significantly improve both the motivation and the skills of students in cursive writing. These findings suggest that an integrated approach combining conventional models with modern technologies can provide a more comprehensive and effective solution for teaching cursive handwriting in elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the school principal as a manager in the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) within the Merdeka Curriculum at SD Negeri 2 Sanggrahan, Kranggan District, Temanggung Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The obtained data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to gain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of P5 and the role of the principal in managing the curriculum. The results of the study show that SD Negeri 2 Sanggrahan has successfully implemented the Merdeka Curriculum, although it is not a model school, with a focus on the development of student character through the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile such as independence, cooperation, critical thinking, and creativity. The role of the school principal as a manager is crucial in ensuring the success of this program, with structured steps in the planning, organizing, and supervising the implementation of P5. The principal also plays a key role as an instructional leader who fosters collaboration among teachers, students, parents, and the community in supporting the implementation of this character-based project. However, challenges related to limited infrastructure and less-than-optimal community involvement still need to be addressed. This study recommends enhancing technology facilities, strengthening critical and creative thinking dimensions among students, and improving teacher competencies through continuous training. Furthermore, the involvement of parents and the community in supporting the implementation of P5 should be increased through more intensive socialization. Thus, it is expected that SD Negeri 2 Sanggrahan will continue to develop as an effective school in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum and serve as a model for other schools in fostering student character and academic competence holistically.

Abstract

The low scientific literacy of elementary school students, influenced by conventional teaching methods and lack of interactivity, necessitates innovation through digital technology. This study aims to test the effectiveness of digital technology as a strategy to enhance scientific literacy using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects consisted of 60 fifth-grade students from two elementary schools (30 students in the experimental group and 30 in the control group). The experimental group received science instruction integrating digital tools such as virtual laboratories (Labster) and educational applications (Quizizz) over 8 weeks, while the control group used conventional methods. Research instruments included a scientific literacy test (HOTS-based questions) and student activity observation sheets. Data were analyzed quantitatively using t-test and ANOVA to compare improvements in scientific literacy scores between the groups. Results showed that the experimental group achieved a significant increase in scientific literacy scores (N-Gain 0.72) compared to the control group (N-Gain 0.32). The study concludes that systematic integration of digital technology effectively enhances elementary students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the letter card box game as an educational medium in enhancing the letter recognition skills of children aged 4–5 years at TK Mutiara Basmallah 1 Tembalang. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results reveal that the use of the letter card box game significantly improves children's abilities in identifying letter shapes, names, and phonetic sounds. The media successfully captures children’s attention and fosters a joyful, engaging, and interactive learning atmosphere. By incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles, this media helps strengthen children's cognitive engagement and retention in the learning process. Furthermore, it promotes active participation and collaboration among peers during activities. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including the limited availability of the media, restricted instructional time, and difficulties encountered by some children in distinguishing visually similar letters. These obstacles can be mitigated through the application of more diverse instructional strategies and continuous collaboration among teachers, parents, and the school. Overall, the letter card box game proves to be an effective medium for developing early literacy in young children. It is therefore recommended that schools adopt this media in their curriculum and support it through teacher training programs and enhanced educational resources.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work motivation on teacher job satisfaction at SDN Tireman Rembang. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 30 teachers at SDN Tireman, which measured the work motivation and job satisfaction variables using a Likert scale. The results of statistical analysis show that work motivation has a significant influence on teacher job satisfaction. The higher the work motivation of teachers, the higher the level of job satisfaction they experience. Both variables are positively related, both partially and simultaneously. The work motivation of teachers at SDN Tireman Rembang is in the high category, with an average score of 4.14, while teacher job satisfaction is also in the high category with an average score of 4.22. These findings indicate that the teachers at the school have high work enthusiasm and good job satisfaction in carrying out their duties as educators. Therefore, the school and policymakers need to continuously strive to maintain and improve teachers' work motivation, such as through rewards, professional development, improved facilities, and creating a harmonious work environment. Abstract

The implementation of the Child Protection Act in schools has had a significant impact on disciplinary practices. This policy encourages schools to exercise greater caution in imposing sanctions, especially those involving physical and verbal actions that could be categorized as violence. The background of this study is the emerging dilemma faced by teachers in balancing the enforcement of school regulations while avoiding legal violations, resulting in anxiety when taking disciplinary action and increasing conflicts such as parental protests and reports to authorities. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Child Protection Act on school disciplinary practices and offer resolution strategies. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, using in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies conducted in several primary and secondary schools. The results show that the implementation of the law has created an imbalance between teacher authority and children's rights, complicating classroom management dynamics. Many schools have subsequently revised their codes of conduct to align with child protection principles. The study concludes that there is a need for discipline approaches based on guidance and respect for children's rights, intensive teacher training in positive discipline, and the development of additional regulations that proportionally protect the role of educators. Collaboration among teachers, parents, and policymakers is crucial to establishing a disciplinary system that is fair, educational, and consistent with the protection of children's rights.
