Abstract

Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (IPAS) learning in elementary schools is often considered less engaging because the approach remains theoretical and provides limited real-life experiences for students. This study aims to examine the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student learning outcomes through the application of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with ecoprint on the topic of observing leaf veins. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles involving 28 fourth-grade students. The instruments used included teaching modules, teacher and student activity observation sheets, and learning achievement tests. The findings revealed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes. The average score increased from 57.1 in the pre-cycle to 63.43 in the first cycle and reached 87.64 in the second cycle. The percentage of students achieving mastery learning also rose from 64.28% in the pre-cycle to 85.71% in the second cycle. Furthermore, students’ creativity in producing ecoprint works improved by 78.6% compared to the initial condition, indicating higher engagement and enhanced creative thinking skills. It is concluded that the implementation of PjBL integrated with ecoprint is effective not only in improving student learning outcomes but also in fostering a contextual, active, and meaningful learning environment. Practically, this method can serve as an alternative strategy for teachers to integrate environmentally based creative projects into IPAS lessons, while also helping schools promote learning that supports the development of the Pancasila Student Profile. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of project-based learning with ecoprint techniques utilizing natural materials, which contributes not only to academic improvement but also to cultivating environmental awareness and creativity from an early age.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of interactional communication in building effective relationships between teachers and students in Special Needs Schools (SLB), particularly at Mutiara Hati Special Needs School in Magelang. Unresponsive and one-way communication often becomes an obstacle in creating optimal learning quality for students with special needs, especially students who experience verbal barriers and social development disorders. In this context, this research aims to identify teacher interactional communication practices that can encourage increased student participation and motivation in learning. This research uses the interactional communication theory of Schramm and Budianto, which includes five leading indicators: response, openness, trust, empathy, and support. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The primary informants consisted of three teachers at Mutiara Hati Special Needs School who had direct experience interacting with students with special needs. The study results indicate that interactional communication practices that prioritize empathy and openness, as well as adaptive verbal and nonverbal responses to the unique needs of each student, contribute significantly to increasing learning motivation, self-confidence, and learning quality. Teachers who demonstrate emotional understanding and use non-verbal approaches such as gentle facial expressions and light touch have been shown to create a more supportive and inclusive classroom climate. Effective interactional communication is a tool for conveying messages and a medium for building deep psychological connections between teachers and students. This study also recommends interactive communication training for special needs teachers as a sustainable strategy to improve the quality of inclusive education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of audience fragmentation in the consumption of local cultural content on the TikTok platform, particularly through the @mas_ijals account, which actively promotes Javanese culture. The phenomenon of audience fragmentation, triggered by advances in digital technology, has shifted media consumption patterns from mass to more segmented due to algorithms and individual preferences. Amidst the current of globalization that threatens the preservation of local culture, understanding cultural content consumption patterns in digital media is crucial for developing effective cultural preservation strategies. This study uses a qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm to understand the meanings constructed by creators and audiences through interactions with local cultural content. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with one content creator and twelve active audiences, as well as an analysis of five videos with high engagement levels from the @mas_ijals TikTok account. Data validity was maintained through source triangulation and member checking to ensure the accuracy of interpretation. The results of the study reveal three main themes: first, local aesthetics have a strong personal appeal, with content packaged visually and narratively able to build emotional bonds and cultural understanding in the audience; Second, the TikTok algorithm acts as a cultural curator that regulates content distribution, although this distribution does not always align with the creator's target audience, thus giving rise to the challenge of fragmentation; and third, the formation of digital communities as spaces of cultural identity, where audiences collectively construct and reconstruct cultural meaning through active interaction. This research shows that despite the challenges of fragmentation and algorithmic constraints, the TikTok platform has great potential to become an effective medium for the preservation and dissemination of local culture if creators are able to understand and adapt to distribution mechanisms and audience preferences.

Abstract

Fraud in community-based financial institutions like Lembaga Perkreditan Desa (LPD) is a serious threat to governance and financial integrity. This study examines how Hindu values are included in fraud risk management at LPD Kesiman. We used a qualitative descriptive approach and gathered data through interviews with managers, supervisors, and community leaders, supported by relevant documents. Following the COSO Fraud Risk Management Framework (2023), the findings show that integrating Tattwa (the belief in God as moral accountability), Susila (ethical conduct as internal control), and Upacara (rituals that promote collective honesty) greatly strengthens the fraud mitigation framework. The originality of this study lies in proposing a model that incorporates Hindu values into fraud risk management as a form of local wisdom, a topic that is rarely addressed in the literature. This shows that preventing fraud in community financial institutions requires both technical methods and the internalization of cultural and spiritual values.

Abstract

This study investigates the forms of social support received by orphans at Mamiyai Orphanage and examines how such support influences their motivation to face life’s challenges. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and triangulation to ensure validity. The findings indicate that social support from caregivers, peers, and the community plays a crucial role in enhancing the motivation of orphans. Emotional support expressed through affection and attention, alongside material assistance, provides a sense of security and fosters mental resilience. Furthermore, warm interactions within the orphanage environment and with the surrounding community strengthen their capacity to adapt to various pressures. Despite existing challenges that may hinder optimal support, the study highlights the importance of continuous collaboration between orphanages, society, and relevant stakeholders. Strengthened social support is essential not only for motivating orphans but also for promoting their overall psychological development and preparing them for a better future.

Abstract

This study explores translanguaging practices in the Department of English Education at Mulawarman University, focusing on how lecturers implement these strategies and how students perceive their impact on learning. The background of this research arises from the challenges faced by students in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts, where limited exposure to English often hampers comprehension and reduces classroom participation. The objective of the study is twofold: to identify the forms of translanguaging employed by lecturers and to examine students’ perceptions, engagement, and responses toward these practices. This research applied a qualitative case study design, collecting data through classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with selected students, followed by thematic analysis supported by triangulation of data sources and methods. The findings demonstrate that lecturers commonly applied code-switching, bilingual clarification, and double questioning techniques to simplify abstract concepts and encourage classroom interaction. Students reported that translanguaging significantly reduced language anxiety, boosted confidence, and facilitated more active participation. Moreover, it improved comprehension by allowing learners to connect complex academic content in English with their first language. These findings highlight translanguaging not merely as spontaneous language switching but as a deliberate pedagogical strategy that scaffolds learning, fosters inclusivity, and validates students’ multilingual identities. Nevertheless, challenges were also noted, such as the risk of overreliance on the first language, which may reduce immersion for advanced learners, and the necessity for structured implementation to maintain discourse coherence. In conclusion, translanguaging has proven to be an effective instructional approach in multilingual EFL classrooms. It supports deeper understanding, enhances student engagement, and nurtures identity affirmation. However, proportional and systematic application is essential to maximize its benefits while minimizing potential drawbacks.

Abstract

Cancel culture has become an increasingly prominent phenomenon in the dynamics of social media. Although widely discussed, quantitative studies on how Indonesian youth perceive this issue remain limited. This study aims to describe how young people in Jakarta interpret cancel culture by examining the factors of gender, age, and duration of social media use. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach through an online survey. The instrument was a questionnaire adapted from Autencio et al. (2020), covering three dimensions: the nature of cancel culture, personal experience, and its social impact. Data were collected from 85 respondents aged 17–39 years (α = 0.786). The results indicate significant variations in perception. Female respondents were more familiar with cancel culture and tended to be more cautious in expressing themselves, whereas male respondents were more consistent in supporting public figures despite controversies. Participants aged 22–39 years demonstrated reflective and critical understanding, while those aged 17–21 years were more reactive but less in-depth in evaluating social issues. The duration of social media use also influenced perceptions: low-intensity users showed critical attitudes, moderate users expressed balanced views, and high-intensity users were more familiar but prone to self-censorship. In conclusion, cancel culture is understood in diverse ways by young people in Jakarta, shaped by identity, digital experiences, and levels of critical literacy. Academically, this study contributes to enriching quantitative research on cancel culture in Indonesia. Practically, the findings highlight the importance of digital literacy programs to foster a healthy and inclusive digital environment.

Abstract

Workload disparities in police organizations threaten the effectiveness of internal oversight functions. The Regional Inspectorate (Itwasda) of Gorontalo Regional Police faces an imbalanced distribution of workload across sections reaching 35%, with indications of overload in some personnel and underutilization in others. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Workload Analysis (WLA) implementation as a human resource management instrument at Itwasda Gorontalo Regional Police, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulate strategic recommendations for optimizing human resource management. The research methodology employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with data validity ensured through source and method triangulation as well as member checks. Research findings reveal significant workload disparities: Itbid Section (138% - overload), Dumasan Section (142% - overload), and Renmin Section (76% - underutilized). WLA implementation successfully reduced disparities from 66% to 23% following task redistribution, with a 35% increase in organizational efficiency and 20% improvement in personnel job satisfaction. Supporting factors include leadership commitment, data availability, and quality human resource capacity. Main constraints are limitations in integrated information systems, personnel resistance to change, and limited technical understanding of WLA methodology. The study concludes that WLA implementation effectively addresses workload disparities and enhances organizational performance through proportional task redistribution. Strategic recommendations include strengthening leadership commitment, continuous training, digital information system development, effective change management, and replicating best practice models to other police units to achieve professional and accountable human resource governance.
