Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between technostress and work-life balance among employees at PT X in the digital era. A quantitative approach was employed involving 134 employees selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires consisting of a technostress scale (25 valid items) and a work-life balance scale (27 valid items). Data analysis was conducted using Pearson Product-Moment correlation. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between technostress and work-life balance (r = 0.820; p < 0.001), leading to the rejection of the initial hypothesis that proposed a negative relationship. Technostress contributed 67.2% to work-life balance, while the remaining variance was influenced by other factors. Categorization results show that the majority of respondents fall into the moderate category for both technostress (78.4%) and work-life balance (65.4%). These findings suggest the presence of effective adaptation mechanisms or coping strategies, where technology is perceived as a supportive tool in integrating work demands and personal life.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of low learning motivation among students, which is presumed to be associated with classroom climate. An unconducive classroom environment may hinder students’ engagement, participation, and enthusiasm in learning. This study aims to examine the relationship between classroom climate and students’ learning motivation at SMA Global Prima Medan. A quantitative correlational design was employed with a sample of 140 students. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s Product Moment correlation with the assistance of SPSS 25.0. The results indicate that classroom climate is categorized as high, with an empirical standard deviation lower than the hypothetical standard deviation (11.196 < 14.5), suggesting relatively homogeneous student perceptions. Furthermore, a significant positive relationship was found between classroom climate and learning motivation. This finding indicates that a more supportive classroom climate is associated with higher levels of student motivation. Most students were found to have moderate levels of learning motivation and classroom climate perception, although a small proportion fell into the low category. In conclusion, classroom climate plays an important role in shaping students’ learning motivation. This study highlights the need for teachers and schools to foster a conducive and supportive classroom environment to enhance student engagement and motivation.

Abstract

Amid the rapid development of digital technology, the digital mobile provider by.U actively leverages Instagram features to manage its brand image. One of its key efforts is delivering promotional messages through the “Gak Gitu-Gitu Aja” campaign. Instagram features allow audiences to freely express their opinions, including both support and complaints toward the brand. This presents a challenge for by.U in responding to audience expectations and managing conversations effectively in order to maintain a positive brand image. This study aims to identify and analyze by.U’s digital communication strategy on Instagram in managing its brand image during the “Gak Gitu-Gitu Aja” campaign. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques include observation, documentation, and interviews with three internal by.U informants and two users who are also followers of @byu.id. The analysis is conducted using digital communication concepts and brand image dimensions proposed by Keller. The findings indicate that by.U implements four comprehensive stages of digital communication strategy to manage its brand image: the development of a big campaign, its transformation into a social media playbook, content publication execution, and sentiment mitigation evaluation. Validation from users and followers shows that this strategy is effective in shaping by.U’s brand image as a fun, solution-oriented, and engaging provider by leveraging various technological features on Instagram.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between workload and work stress among employees at the Planning, Development, Research, and Development Agency (Bappelitbang). The research is based on increasing job demands and task volume that may contribute to psychological pressure among employees. A quantitative correlational design was employed in this study. The sample consisted of 119 employees selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using workload and work stress scales developed based on relevant theoretical frameworks and tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis using Pearson Product Moment correlation revealed a correlation coefficient of r = 0.614 with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination indicates that workload contributes 37.7% to work stress. These results show a significant positive relationship between workload and work stress, meaning that higher workload is associated with higher levels of work stress among employees. Conversely, lower workload tends to be followed by reduced work stress. These findings suggest that workload management plays an important role in maintaining employees’ psychological well-being. Therefore, organizations are encouraged to distribute workloads more proportionally to minimize the risk of work-related stress.

Abstract

Coastal communities in Indonesia continue to face structural challenges such as poverty, limited access to education, and patriarchal social systems, which place women in vulnerable social and economic positions. Despite these constraints, coastal women have increasingly participated in entrepreneurial activities to support household income and community economic resilience. This study aims to analyze gender awareness among coastal female entrepreneurs and examine the challenges and empowerment strategies that shape their entrepreneurial experiences in Tambak Wedi Village, Surabaya. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach using unstructured observation and in-depth interviews with ten coastal female entrepreneurs selected based on business activity, duration of business operation, and active involvement un family economic support. Data were analyzed through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and thematic analysis. The findings show that gender awareness among coastal female entrepreneurs reflected in their active economic participation, shared domestic responsibilities, and involvement in household decision-making. However, women continue to face structural barriers, including gender stereotypes, double burdens, limited access to government support, institutional collaboration, and digital technology play important roles in strengthening women’s entrepreneurial capacity and economic independence. This study concludes that achieving gender equality in coastal communities requires inclusive empowerment strategies that expand women’s access to training, financial support, and technology while transforming patriarchal social perceptions of women’s roles in both domestic and public spheres.

Abstract

This study analyzes Mandailing Online's representation strategy in reporting on two candidate pairs for Regent of Mandailing Natal in the 2024 regional elections, identifies the power relations and ideologies operating behind these discursive practices, and formulates their implications for the local democratic public sphere. The research employs Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as a dialectical reasoning framework (2018, 2020), which systematically moves from describing discursive problems to explaining their social causes and advocating for structural change. The data corpus comprises 174 news articles published from September to November 2024, analyzed qualitatively. The findings reveal systematic discourse polarization: Candidate Pair 01 is consistently constructed through a social-organizational capital framework, while Candidate Pair 02 is represented through performative religiosity discourse. This polarization is structurally produced by media ownership networks that are relationally embedded in local political power, resulting in unequal access to public discourse and a narrowing of voters' capacity for independent political judgment. The study concludes that local media operates as an instrument for reproducing political dominance rather than functioning as an autonomous public sphere, making regulatory reform of media ownership and the strengthening of public critical literacy urgent priorities.

Abstract

This research investigates the deployment of cinematic discourse mechanisms in Shekhar Kapur's Elizabeth duology as vehicles for constructing an immersive audience experience of Queen Elizabeth I's psychological transformation. Drawing on Chatman's story-discourse framework as its primary analytical lens, the study examines how Elizabeth (1998) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) systematically employ medium-specific techniques cinematography, editing, sound design, and mise-en-scène to position spectators as active experiential participants rather than detached observers of historical biography. Qualitative formalist analysis of key transformation sequences demonstrates that the psychological impact of both films derives not from their historical subject matter but from a coordinated orchestration of formal strategies engineered to produce perceptual alignment, emotional mirroring, and subjective spectatorship. Significantly, the deliberate narrative discontinuities between the two films emerge as sophisticated discourse mechanisms in their own right, formally enacting the dissociation inherent in sovereign identity formation and compelling audiences to undertake the same cognitive labor as Elizabeth's own psychological reconstruction. By integrating Smith's character engagement theory, Bordwell and Thompson's account of classical film technique, and Plantinga's embodied spectatorship model, the study establishes that Kapur's duology redefines the conventions of biographical cinema, converting historical representation into phenomenological encounter. The conclusion affirms cinema's singular capacity to generate experiential comprehension of complex psychological processes through deliberate formal manipulation, and offers a transferable methodological framework for analyzing discourse-driven narratives across historical and biographical film genres.

Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior among adolescents has become an important issue due to its potential psychological, social, and educational impacts. One factor that may reduce adolescents’ involvement in risky sexual behavior is father involvement, which includes emotional support, supervision, communication, and active participation in children’s development. This study aimed to examine the relationship between father involvement and premarital sexual behavior among adolescents at Immanuel Christian Senior High School in Medan City. This research employed a quantitative correlational design. The participants consisted of 105 male and female students who were currently involved in dating relationships and were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through Likert-type scales, including a 39-item premarital sexual behavior scale and a 40-item father involvement scale. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson Product-Moment correlation with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The results showed a significant negative relationship between father involvement and premarital sexual behavior, with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.239 and a significance value of p = 0.014 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that adolescents who experience higher levels of father involvement tend to show lower engagement in premarital sexual behavior. Low father involvement is associated with a greater tendency toward risky sexual behavior among adolescents. Father involvement contributes to adolescents’ behavioral regulation through guidance, supervision, and emotional closeness. In conclusion, father involvement plays an important protective role in reducing premarital sexual behavior among adolescents. This study highlights the importance of strengthening fathers’ active participation in adolescent development.

Abstract

With the rapid development of social media as a major source of information for tourists in planning their trips, User Generated Content (UGC), such as reviews, photos, and travel experiences shared by other users, is considered more authentic and trustworthy than official promotions. This study aims to analyze the factors of User Generated Content (UGC) posted on social media that influence tourists’ travel planning, in order to understand tourists’ perceptions of the benefits of social media and the factors affecting the use of information in travel planning. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method involving tourists who utilize social media to access UGC related to tourism in their travel planning process. A total of 157 respondents who undertook trips during the period of October–November 2025 participated in this study. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to identify the underlying dimensions of UGC usage in travel planning, based on eigenvalues, factor loadings, and Varimax rotation. The results reveal that two main factors were identified, namely ease of use and trust in social media, as well as risk reduction and perceived benefits of social media, which together explain 60.879% of the total variance. These findings indicate that UGC plays a significant role in supporting tourists’ travel planning process.

Abstract

Consumption patterns are changing with the development of the cashless society era, which is characterized by the ease of digital transactions and the increasing use of online platforms in daily economic activities. In Samarinda, this convenience has the potential to influence how individuals manage expenses and determine consumption priorities. This study aims to analyze the consumption patterns of Samarinda residents in the cashless society era and identify the most dominant indicators in shaping consumption behavior. The study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The sample consisted of 100 adult respondents aged 19–59 years old, determined using the Slovin formula with the sampling technique being accidental sampling. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics with the calculation of averages and percentages of data. The results of the study, which measured consumption expenditure indicators, changes in consumption over time, the intensity of use of goods and services, and purchasing behavior, showed that in general, the consumption patterns of Samarinda residents were in the very good category with 63% of respondents, followed by the good category with 36%, and only a small portion were in the very bad category. Community expenditure was dominated by basic needs and followed by savings habits. In addition, people tend to shop through online platforms with marketplaces as the main choice. In the purchasing process, people prioritize product quality and authenticity over other factors. These results indicate that Samarinda residents are still able to manage their consumption rationally and purposefully despite the ease of digital transactions. The most dominant indicator of consumption patterns is purchasing behavior, which reflects people's ability to control spending and make informed decisions.
