Abstract

The tradition of Quranic memorization in pesantren has lasted for centuries, but has not been extensively studied from a neuroscience perspective to understand the learning mechanisms of students' brains. Pesantren face challenges in optimizing the effectiveness of memorization learning, especially for students with diverse abilities, including slow learners. This research aims to analyze the integration of neuroscience in the Quranic memorization tradition, examine the relevance of traditional methods with brain working principles, and formulate recommendations for neuroscience-based learning development. The research employs library research methods with an interdisciplinary qualitative approach that integrates neuroscience, Islamic education, and pesantren studies perspectives. Data were collected through documentary studies of primary and secondary literature, analyzed descriptively, comparatively, and synthetically with source triangulation. Research findings show that traditional memorization methods such as tikrar, tallaqi, murajaah, and wahdah have strong neurobiological foundations aligned with neuroplasticity principles, spaced repetition, and social learning. Neuroscience integration optimizes student learning stages through right, left, and middle brain activation, as well as learning strategies based on visualization, association, and motivation. This approach is effective for various student characteristics, including implementation of tasmi', kitabah, and hypno-motivation methods for slow learners, contributing to improved tahfidz learning effectiveness in contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

The family resilience in the contemporary era faces various challenges, such as increasing domestic conflict, communication crises, and the weakening role of parents in parenting. This phenomenon demonstrates the importance of presenting parenting patterns that are not only adaptive but also rooted in Islamic values. In this context, prophetic parenting becomes relevant as an alternative approach in fostering family resilience. This study aims to analyze the concept and application of prophetic parenting from the perspective of the hadith, and contextualize it in modern family life. This research method uses a qualitative literature-based study with a thematic and contextual hadith approach. The main data sources are hadiths related to childcare, which are then analyzed using takhrij techniques, thematic classification, and contextual interpretation according to contemporary social realities. The results show that prophetic parenting encompasses several main principles, namely role models (uswah hasanah), love (rahmah), dialogic communication, halal sustenance, and the instilling of tauhid and moral values from an early age. This article concludes that the application of prophetic parenting contributes significantly to strengthening family resilience and serves as a preventative measure against the emergence of unhealthy parenting patterns. The implications of this study underscore the importance of integrating prophetic values into parenting practices—such as using rewards and corrective measures that serve an educational purpose—as the foundation for building a family characterized by sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah.

Abstract

Background: The integration of local wisdom in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is an important issue in the context of a multiethnic society so that religious learning is not merely normative, but also contextual to the socio-cultural realities of students. Various studies have made important contributions in examining the integration of local wisdom in Islamic Religious Education learning at the elementary and secondary levels of education, while studies on the practice of such integration in the context of multiethnic universities still open up wider scope for study. Purpose of the Study: This article aims to analyze the form and process of integration of local wisdom values of the Dayak, Banjarese, and Javanese ethnic groups in PAI learning at the Sekolah tinggi Agama Islam Kuala Kapuas and identify its implications for students' religious understanding. Methods: The study used a qualitative approach with a multiethnic case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies of five informants consisting of PAI lecturers, students, academic leaders, and community leaders with purposive sampling techniques, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model. Results: The results indicate that the integration of local wisdom is carried out through linking the concepts of Islamic teachings (PAI) with local cultural values, such as the philosophy of Huma Betang, the value of togetherness (baimbai), and the ethics of politeness in the learning process. Findings from interviews with five participants show that these principles serve as a meeting point for shared cultural understanding that strengthen inclusive and moderate religious understanding in a multi-ethnic university environment. Conclusions: The pluralist-assimilationist approach empowers students not only to preserve their original cultural identity but also to assimilate Islamic culture in achieving an effective and sustainable multicultural education paradigm.

Abstract

Indonesia, as the world's largest archipelago nation, is known for its high diversity in culture, ethnicity, language, and religion, which is both a national asset and a challenge for maintaining unity. Amid the persisting phenomenon of intolerance, religious moderation is crucial to prevent extremism and foster a tolerant society. Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as indigenous Islamic educational institutions have great potential to instill religious moderation values, in line with Law No. 18 of 2019. This study examines the integration of religious moderation values in learning at Pondok Pesantren Alkhairaat Madinatul Ilmi Dolo, Sigi Regency. The purpose of this study is to describe the model of integration and implementation of religious moderation values in learning. The method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data triangulation. Results show an integration model through conventional, reflective, and transinternalization strategies, and implementation of six moderation values (tawasuth, tawazun, i'tidal, tasamuh, musawah, syura') in daily activities, shaping tolerant student characters. Conclusion: This integration successfully forms a moderate generation, contributing to extremism prevention and social harmony. Practical implications include replicating the model in other Islamic educational institutions to strengthen tolerance in multicultural areas.

Abstract

In an era when digital ecosystems increasingly shape how learners think and communicate, understanding how such environments support second-language speaking development has become an academic and pedagogical imperative. This study examines how the synergy between Formal Digital Practice (FDP) and Self-Regulated Digital Practice (SRDP) contributes to EFL learners’ speaking proficiency, particularly within Islamic secondary education, where digital literacy is expected to align with values of discipline, responsibility, and adab (proper conduct). Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the study integrates pre–post speaking assessments, SRDP questionnaires, digital activity logs, and a Synergy Index with qualitative interviews to explore learners’ perceptions and strategic behaviors. Findings show significant gains in fluency, accuracy, and complexity, with a large effect size and strong predictive power of the Synergy Index, indicating that strategic integration rather than mere frequency of technology use drives linguistic improvement. Results further reveal that teacher modeling rooted in Islamic educational values and peer collaboration grounded in communal ethics enhance the effectiveness of integrated digital practices. The study concludes that meaningful speaking development emerges when formal and self-regulated digital practices operate coherently and reinforce one another. These findings validate the Integrated Digital Practice (IDP) Model and offer important implications for EFL curriculum design in Islamic-based schools, promoting sustained, autonomous, and ethically grounded oral communication.

Abstract

This study is based on the need to develop Qur’an memorization (tahfidz) methods that are suitable for early childhood during the golden age. Conventional methods tend to rely on repetitive verbal techniques and often fail to engage young learners effectively. However, studies examining multisensory-based tahfidz methods, particularly the Tabarak method, remain limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, evaluation, and influencing factors of the Tabarak method in early childhood Qur’an memorization. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at Markaz Tahfidz Balita Ibnu Abza in Padang City. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the Tabarak method is implemented systematically through structured memorization targets, multisensory learning (sima’i, tasmi’, and repetition), and continuous evaluation. Supporting factors include a conducive learning environment, teacher commitment, and parental involvement, while inhibiting factors include differences in children's characteristics and inconsistent assistance at home. In conclusion, the Tabarak method is effective as a multisensory-based approach and can serve as an adaptive model for early childhood Qur’an memorization.

Abstract

Islamic Character Education has become an increasingly important issue in contemporary education due to concerns regarding moral degradation, digital transformation, and the integration of religious values into modern learning systems. However, research examining the development and intellectual structure of Islamic Character Education remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to explore the evolution, theoretical foundations, contextual settings, characteristics, and methodological trends of Islamic Character Education research in Indonesia. This study employed a hybrid bibliometric and systematic literature review approach using the TCCM (Theory–Context–Characteristics–Methodology) framework. Data were collected from the Scopus database in April 2026 using keywords related to Islamic character, morality, ethics, values, and education without publication year limitation. The review process followed the PRISMA protocol, resulting in 50 selected articles for further analysis. The findings reveal that Islamic Character Education research has grown significantly, particularly after 2017, with dominant themes including moral education, akhlaq, Islamic values, pesantren education, curriculum integration, and digital transformation. The literature is mainly grounded in moral development theory, character education theory, social constructivism, and Islamic pedagogical ethics, while the research context is largely concentrated in pesantren, madrasah, and Islamic schools in Indonesia. Methodologically, qualitative approaches remain dominant, although quantitative, mixed-method, and digital-based studies have recently emerged. Overall, this study demonstrates that Islamic Character Education has developed into a dynamic and interdisciplinary research field, while future studies should focus on developing more contextually grounded Islamic educational theories and examining emerging issues related to artificial intelligence and global educational challenges.
