Abstract

Background: The risk of flooding in Jakarta is continuously increased and predicted to be drowned in 2050. Unfortunately, citizens seem to have no feeling of uneasiness although their place is haunted by the drowning threats. Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of risk perception, self-efficacy, trust in government, and place attachment to disaster preparedness facing the threat of drowning. Methods: A cross sectional study with quantitative and non-experimental design was applied. 486 Jakarta’s citizens as the sample of the study by using quota sampling. Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) was executed to test the hypothesis. Results: Risk perception, self-efficacy, and trust in government were found significantly affected disaster preparedness with a total contribution of 24% (F=10.81, sig < 0.000) after being moderated by place attachment. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that place attachment was capable of modifying the role of risk perception, self-efficacy, and trust in government in predicting disaster preparedness. This finding implies the necessity of considering an individual's attachments toward their living place while intervening the disaster preparedness.

Abstract

Background: In the community, traditional birth attendants (TBAs) have a significant societal role, especially for women. The WHO no longer recommends delivering a baby through TBAs due to the higher likelihood of maternal and infant mortality. A successful approach that has been effective in several countries for reducing maternal and infant mortality rates is the collaboration between TBAs and midwives. Objective: To analyze the collaborative association between midwives and TBAs to ascertain their objectives, obstacles, and possible resolutions. Methods: Literature review was employed in this research. The articles used were published from 2018 to 2023, encompassing five years, obtained from various databases including Pubmed, EBSCO, Science Direct, and Oxford Academy. Results: One hundred and ten articles were obtained and then screened. The final results were obtained from ten articles reviewed. Conclusion: The literature review highlights the significant societal role of midwives and traditional birth attendants. A major issue arose from the disparity in knowledge, proficiency, and perception. Enhancing collaboration can be accomplished through a multitude of methods, such as communication, training, role sharing, and incentives for TBAs.

Abstract

Background: Striae gravidarum happens during the 18th week to the 32nd week in pregnant women, this is as a result of over distance of abdominal wall. Striae Gravidarum inextricably linked with relaxin hormone. Human chorionic gonadotropin will increase the secretion of relaxin. Secretion of this hormone will decrease following the 24th week, consequently the risk of developing Striae gravidarum becomes higher. It may result in itch, in the worst case of Striae gravidarum itching. Objective: To determine the influence of Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis Miller) usage on itch reduction in pregnant women with striae gravidarum. Methods: Using a one-group pretest-posttest design methodology, this study employed a quasi-experiment design. Thirty responders were among the samples. This study took place in May 2023. Itching score was measured using VAS. Paired T-test was used for data analysis. Results: Average of itching frequency prior to the use of aloe vera was 8.27, upon the use of aloe vera its average was 2.97cc. The mean of measurement difference before and after was 5.3.Conclusion: The application of aloe vera demonstrates efficacy in alleviating itching in expectant mothers experiencing striae gravidarum
