Abstract

The decreasing number of young human resources in agriculture shows that the younger generation is less interested in working in agriculture. The continuation of this phenomenon can impact the food crisis due to the absence of humans who are willing to carry out agricultural cultivation. This study aims to analyze internal and external factors of the young generation of Agricultural Vocational School students, suspected to a construct of competence and motivation to work in agriculture. The research location is in the agricultural vocational school majoring in agribusiness of cash crops and horticulture in Semarang Regency, directly related to on-farm agricultural activities. To obtain qualitative data, the data collection method was carried out by distributing questionnaires to the XII grade students of agricultural vocational schools in Semarang Regency. The data were analyzed quantitatively using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The results showed that family encouragement, support from educational institutions, farming skills, and job characteristics in agriculture significantly affected agricultural vocational students' competence in agriculture. Factors that significantly affect motivation to work in agriculture for vocational high school students are environmental factors, support from educational institutions, farming skills, characteristics of work in agriculture, and moral responsibility. Competence in agriculture has a significant effect on motivation to work in agriculture. Cooperation between families, schools, and communities is expected to increase the basis of the younger generation to work in the agricultural sector.

The purposes of this research were 1) to analyze the household income of rice farmers in Gampong Alue Merbau, 2) to analyze the proportion of household food expenditures for rice farmers in Gampong Alue Merbau, 3) to analyze the relationship between income and the proportion of household food expenditures for rice farmers in Gampong Alue Merbau. This research was conducted in Gampong Alue Merbau, East Langsa District, Langsa City. The analytical methods used are rice farmer household income analysis, rice farmer household food expenditure proportion analysis, and Pearson Correlation analysis. The results showed that the average household income of rice farmers was Rp 2,898,804/month. The average proportion of household food expenditure is 52%. Income with the proportion of food expenditure has a significant relationship. The correlation coefficient value is -0.579, which indicates a moderate relationship. The correlation coefficient value in the analysis results is negative, which means that income and the proportion of food expenditure have an opposite relationship. If the income is high, the proportion of food expenditure is low; if the income is low, the proportion of food expenditure is high.

Abstract

Kuantan Singingi Regency is one of the districts with the potential for oil palm plantations to be integrated with livestock. Innovation in using by-products from plantations and palm oil processing as animal feed and animal manure as fertilizer can be maximally applied using cheap by-product management technology. It can improve the quality and quantity of these by-products. Through the utilization of plantation by-products and palm oil processing as feed, it is predicted to be able to provide support for increasing the cattle population. This study aims to see the relationship between the factors that influence the level of adoption of innovation integration between cattle and oil palm in Kuantan Singing. The results of the study indicate that there is no significant relationship between the characteristics of innovation, breeder characteristics and the performance of the extension worker on the technological innovation of the livestock-palm integration system. With the integration of livestock and palm oil, cattle feed from processed palm oil is beneficial, and cow dung is used as fertilizer for the oil palm plant. With the palm oil program, it is hoped that it can help improve the welfare of oil palm planters and cattle breeders and improve the quality of products produced by palm oil livestock. Breeders still need regular assistance from agricultural extension workers and related agencies regarding applying components of livestock-palm integration technology.

Abstract

The development of alternative staple foods is a solution to achieve food security and overcome dependence on rice imports. One of the local plants that has the potential to support food diversification programs is hanjeli (Coix lacryma-Jobi. L). On the other hand, hanjeli cultivation is almost extinct due to the conversion of agricultural land. The purpose of this study was to analyze the feasibility of hanjeli farming as an alternative food to support food security and to develop strategies for developing hanjeli farming to increase the profits of hanjeli farming. The data used is primary data through interviews with eight key figures. In addition, secondary data was obtained through literature study with the keywords "hanjeli", "agriculture", "agrotourism", "tourism village", and so on. The data analysis method used the R/C ratio to identify the feasibility of hanjeli farming. The results showed that hanjeli farming was feasible with an R/C ratio of 1.59, but efforts were still needed to increase the profits of hanjeli farming. The strategy to increase profits in hanjeli farming is the need to apply technology in hanjeli farming, improve the quality of human resources, add value to hanjeli products, and develop hanjeli agro-tourism sites.

Abstract

Escalating rice production through technical efficiency becomes an essential alternative as the extensification path is getting tough to take. Rice productivity declines while the consumption rate continues to rise. This study aims to analyze the technical, allocative, and economic efficiency rates of the Jajar Legowo and Tegel Planting Systems. Factors of efficiency are included in the research. The research was conducted in the village of Nanga Buntal, East Manggarai, a rice production centre district in the Province of NTT. Among 152 rice farmer respondents, 102 are from the Jajar Legowo planting system and 50 from the Tegel planting system. The stochastic frontier Cobb-Douglass method is used in data analysis. The allocation and economic efficiency are analyzed using the Stochastic frontier cost function. This analysis also uses multiple linear regression analysis. The average rates of technical, allocative, and economic efficiency of the Tegel planting system are respectively 72 %, 76 % and 56 %. These rates are lower than that of the Jajar Legowo Planting system (84 %, 86 %, and 73%). The periods of farming, land area, dummy of farmer group members, and the dummy of planting systems are factors that significantly and positively influence technical and allocative efficiency. Factors that negatively affect efficiency are farmers' age and credit access dummy. Further intensive training for the Jajar Legowo planting system is needed.

Abstract

Inventory control of raw materials is very important at Zanada Tempe House so that soybeans can always be available without the need for additional inventory costs due to excess orders with an irregular schedule. Soybean raw materials that will be processed by Zanada Tempe House are only ordered based on estimated production needs, but have not implemented a certain inventory control model to maintain production success so that it remains economical. This study aims to determine the performance of the production process and control of soybean inventory as raw material for economical "Kizz Crunchy" chips at Zanada Tempe House. This research uses a qualitative design and case study method. All data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. The results showed that the total cost of inventory based on company policies was almost two times greater than the calculation using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. If the EOQ method can be applied, it is able to provide benefits because it can spend costs accurately and to a minimum, cost savings can be made up to 63%.
