Abstract

Background: Generation Z in Indonesia (27.94% of the population) faces paradoxical digital hyperconnectivity alongside escalating romantic loneliness discrepancies between desired and achieved intimacy. Personal branding has become essential in post-pandemic digital economies.Purpose: This study examined whether romantic loneliness catalyzes personal branding development through cognitive reframing mechanisms among Indonesian Generation Z.Method: This sequential explanatory mixed-methods study employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with 151 Generation Z participants aged 20-29 years in West Java. The sample size satisfied the ten-times rule for PLS-SEM with post-hoc power analysis (>.80 for medium effect sizes). Instruments demonstrated adequate reliability (Cronbach's α = .696-.863; AVE>.59). Five participants underwent semi-structured interviews using thematic analysis.Findings: Romantic loneliness significantly predicted reframing mechanisms (β = .777, p < .001), which subsequently influenced personal branding (β = .461, p = .002), with reframing as a significant partial mediator. Qualitative analysis revealed three adaptive pathways: productivity redirection, supportive network cultivation, and existential self-prioritization.Implication: These findings demonstrate that romantic loneliness, when cognitively reframed, functions as a transformative resource for authentic personal branding. Results inform psychosocial interventions emphasizing reframing competency in educational curricula and youth programs.

Abstract

Background: Growth mindset is a condition that has been proven to have a high role in producing good psychological conditions and determining student success in learning. However, growth mindset interventions generally take a long time to implement. Therefore, simpler growth mindset intervention designs are currently at the centre of researchers' attention.Purpose: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of media-based growth mindset intervention on students' final project completion.Method: The method used was a between-subjects experiment with a randomized pretest-posttest experimental design. There were 25 participants involved in experimental group 1 (video media), and 30 participants involved in experimental group 2 (infographics). The measuring instrument used were the growth mindset scale and study success measured through the achievement indicators at the stage of thesis completion. Data analysis was conducted using the t-test.Findings: The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in scores in all three pairs of variables. The video intervention showed a significant difference between pre and post scores, as did the infographic intervention. Meanwhile, the thesis achievement variable measured three months after the intervention showed a much stronger and significant improvement. During the three months of progress, participants completed their thesis although they were not making a research title or only reached chapter 3 at the beginning of the intervention.Implication: This intervention can be used for universities to overcome students who experience difficulties or encourage students to graduate on time.

Abstract

The level of physical activity participation among Indonesian university students remains relatively low, despite the proven benefits of exercise for physical and mental health. To better understand students’ beliefs about exercise, a conceptually and culturally appropriate measurement tool is needed. This study aims to adapt and evaluate the validity and reliability of the Exercise Health Belief Model Scale (EHBMS) into the Indonesian language. The adaptation process followed the guidelines of Beaton et al. (2000), including preparation, forward translation, synthesis, back translation, expert judgment, pre-test, and submission. Content validity was assessed using Aiken’s V method, while construct validity was evaluated through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Reliability was examined using Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. A total of 500 university students from various higher education institutions in Indonesia participated through convenience sampling. The analysis showed that the EHBMS-ID instrument possesses strong psychometric properties, with content validity indices ranging from 0.95-1.00, acceptable model fit (RMSEA = 0.078; SRMR = 0.061; CFI = 0.932; TLI = 0.923; GFI = 0.990; NFI = 0.912), item discrimination indices between 0.373-0.830, and a Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.860. Therefore, the EHBMS-ID is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring university students’ beliefs about exercise behavior in Indonesia.

Abstract

Buying behavior is shifting from conventional methods to e-commerce, especially in the emerging adulthood age range. Therefore, e-commerce competes in providing promotions and prices with the best deals to expand their market. This study examines the effect of promotion type and price on purchase intention. An experimental study was conducted on participants aged 18-25 years old. Participants was assigned to purchase scenario with promotion type (discount and free shipping) as the within-subjects variable and price (cheap and expensive) as the between-subjects variable. Mixed ANOVA results reveal a significant effect of price on purchase intention (p < .01). Meanwhile, there is no significant effect of promotion type on purchase intention (p = .10). Moreover, there is no interaction between the variables on purchase intention (p = 0.24).

Abstract

Background: Parenting stress is often discussed in research on parenting children with developmental disorders. According to cognitive behavioral theory, cognition influences behavior. To clarify the dynamics of the relationship between cognitive distortion and parenting stress, emotional regulation is placed as a mediator variable.Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between cognitive distortion, emotional regulation and parenting stress in mothers who care for children with developmental disorders.Method: The characteristics of the research participants are mothers who raise children with developmental disorders. There are 91 mothers who filled out the Parenting Stress Scale, Emotional Regulation Scale and Cognitive Distortion Scale of Parenting. Data analysis using SPSS through PROCESS model 4.Findings: The results of the mediation test in this study indicate that emotional regulation does not act as a variable that mediates cognitive distortion with parenting stress. The correlation between cognitive distortion and parenting stress is positive and very significant (p <0.01), the correlation between emotional regulation and parenting stress is negative and significant (p <0.05); but the negative correlation between cognitive distortion and emotional regulation is not significant (p>0.05).Implication: Emotional regulation is not a mediator but a predictor and also a moderator..

Abstract

Background: Social support is a key psychological construct widely examined in various research contexts. Cohen’s theory of social support underlies the development of the Interpersonal Support Evaluation List (ISEL-40), which measures perceived social support. Although the ISEL-40 has been adapted into several languages, empirical validation of its full version in the Indonesian context remains limited and methodologically constrained in prior studies.Purpose: This study aims to illuminate the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the ISEL-40.Method: This study involved 600 respondents from the Central Java Province and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, language-culture adjustments, and reliability analysis of Cronbach's Alpha, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Multidimensional Scaling (MDS).Findings: The results indicate that the Indonesian ISEL-28 demonstrates adequate reliability and construct validity. The overall Cronbach’s alpha was .910, while CFA results showed acceptable model fit (RMSEA = .079; RMR = .050).Implication: The validated Indonesian ISEL-28 supports culturally relevant research and practice and provides a foundation for future cross-cultural studies in Indonesia.
