Abstract

This study is a non-experimental research that explores the relationship between parents’struggles and students’ learning motivation in higher education. Theories of Parental Involvement and The Expectancy Theory of Motivation are used as foundations of this research. 389 students are selected to participate in filling out surveys administered online to accommodate the transition to online learning recently. The correlational bivariate analysis results show that the relationship (p) between the two variables are significant at 0,01 level and that the strength of the relationship (r) is shown to be strong at 0,60 level. This means that the more struggles experienced by parents, the higher the students’ learning motivation become. Thus, the null hypothesis in this study is rejected. This study is supposed to be a preliminary investigation on the topic and further research is needed. Suggestions to the parties involved in the teaching practice are made.

Considering the importance of these aspects, there are differences in the types of work from one job to another are one of the causes that can lead to differences in happiness in the workplace. In Indonesia, the types of work that are pretty different are state-owned public companies and start-up companies. The fundamental differences are in almost all aspects of the organization, some of which are the way of interacting with colleagues and superiors, the intensity of using gadgets and information technology, salaries, facilities, and working hours. This research is non-experimental quantitative research, with a sampling approach, a non-probability sampling with a convenience sampling technique. Ninety-eight employees from a state-owned public company and 69 from a start-up company were collected by self-administered questionnaires. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from the employees. The results showed that the level of happiness at work of employees in the state-owned public company and start-up company was at the same level, slightly happy (M = 4.2 and M = 4.79). The same result is identified for the work's dimension, slightly happy (M = 4.64 and M = 4.91). The start-up shows a higher value between these two companies than the state-owned public company. This result does not differ from other companies, such as public universities, small and medium-sized enterprises, and nurses from private hospitals.

Abstract

This study aims to see how successful aromatherapy is at improving short-term memory in students at the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Participants in the study were 20 participants who were students with short-term memory impairments and had low scores in short-term memory with under 50. A one-group pretest and posttest experimental design was used in this investigation. The non-parametric Wilcoxon statistical test was employed in data analysis to assess the comparison between pretest and posttest scores in determining the intervention's outcome. The intervention improved short-term memory in 20 of the subjects, with short-term memory scores that were above average. The data analysis yielded a Z = - 2.652 value with a significance of p = 0.709 (p = < 0.05). This indicates a difference in participants' short-term memory before and after the intervention. This suggests that people can effectively improve their short-term memory.
