Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of methods and effects of human sperm cryopreservation. This review was written using a literature review method from international databases such as Scopus and PubMed. The results of the research show that by choosing a cryopreservation method, choosing a cryoprotectant agent such as TAT-PRDX2, canthaxanthin, or Holotheria parva coleomic extract, can increase sperm motility, viability and integrity after cryopreservation, the right cryoprotectant agent can defend cells from oxidative stress and fragmentation DNA. Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of severity on mango (Mangifera indica) leaves. The methods used in this research are identifying disease symptoms using the Plantix application, measuring the severity of leaves using ImageJ software, and culturing bacterial cells on Nutrient Agar (NA). The sample uses 5 leaves and 3 different location points. The research results show that the data obtained from ImageJ software shows the level of severity with an average percentage, namely at location point A it is 1.98%, location point B is 1.18%, and location point C is 2.31%. Based on the results of bacterial cell culture, isolates were obtained with the characteristics, a) shape, namely round; b) the edge line, namely the whole; c) high, that is, convex; d) size, namely medium; e) color, namely colorless; f) texture, namely soft; g) appearance i.e. shiny. Based on the known disease symptoms on mango leaves, mango black bacterial spot disease was identified which was caused by the bacteria Xanthomonas citri pv. mangiferaeindicae. In conclusion, the data obtained from ImageJ software shows that the highest level of severity is at location point C and the lowest level of severity is at location point B. Abstract

This research aims to determine the potential of cellulolytic bacteria and identify bacterial isolates originating from TPU. A total of 36 bacterial isolates that will be tested for their cellulolytic potential have been isolated from Pracimaloyo Kartasura TPU, Sukoharjo. Selection of cellulolytic bacteria used selective Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) media dripping with 0.1% Congo red while identification was based on colony morphology and Gram staining. The research results showed that 8 bacterial isolates (22.22%) showed positive cellulolytic activity, namely P5, P8, P10, P14, P22, P25, P27, and P31, with a cellulolytic index value of 7.5; 5; 6.25; 7; 7, 5, 25; 7, 25; and 6.5. Cellulolytic positive isolates have shiny white colonies, entire edges, raised elevations, and are classified as Gram negative cocci. Abstract

This research aims to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the encyclopedia developed on Kingdom Plantae (Plant Kingdom) material. The method used in this research is the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate) from Thiagarajan. The research results show that the Encyclopedia is very feasible, practical, and effective to be used as open material for SMA/MA students. This is seen based on the assessment of experts by material experts with a percentage of 80%, media experts with a percentage of 90.9%, biology subject teachers with a percentage of 75%, practicality by students with a percentage of 90.4%, and product effectiveness seen from the Learning Completeness formula with a percentage amounting to 87.30%. Encyclopedias that are suitable for development will then be distributed to several schools, namely MAS Al-Ulum Medan and SMAS Nur Ihsan Islamic Fullday School. Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the structure of zooplankton communities in former gold mining ponds for fish cultivation in Nagari Muaro, Sijunjung District, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra. The research method used is a descriptive survey. Determining the location for sampling zooplankton was carried out using purposive sampling. The research results showed that the overall abundance of zooplankton was found to be 18.2 ind/l, consisting of 4 phyla and several genera or types. The phyla found were, a) the Protozoa phylum with 2 genera, namely Astramoeba and the Arcella genus with an abundance of 3.2 ind/l; b) the Rotifera phylum consists of 7 genera, namely the genus Branchinus, Lycane, Keratella, Notholca, Trichoyria, Polymerurus, and the genus Habrotrocha with an abundance of 5.4 ind/l; c) phylum Crustaceae, 3 genera, namely Nauplius, Cyclops, and Daphnia with an abundance of 9.5 ind/l; d) the phylum Arthropoda has 1 genus, namely Chironomus with an abundance of 0.1 ind/l. The highest abundance was found in the phylum Crustaceae. The zooplankton diversity index at the three stations has an average value of 2.08, the evenness index has an average value of 0.83, and the zooplankton dominance index has an average value of 0.16. The results of measuring physical factors are the average turbidity of 3.53 NTU, the average water temperature is 32oC, and the average pH of water is 6. The results of measuring the average water chemical factors are water DO of 5.15 ppm, BOD of 1.77 ppm , COD was 26.45 ppm, CO2 levels were 18.29 ppm, and measured mercury (Hg) levels ranged from 0 – 0.03 ppm. Conclusion, based on the abundance of zooplankton found, the pond waters are classified as mesotrophic with a moderate level of fertility diversity. Abstract

The research aims to determine the number of individuals, age structure and sex ratio in the Simpai population or sub-population in the Bukit Daun Protected Forest. The research used the direct sencus method or direct counting of individual hoops (P. m. melalophos) in a sub-population in the field. Observations were carried out at 06.00-18.00 WIB and increased observations were carried out four times on different days. The research results show that there are three sub-populations of Simpai in the Bukit Daun Protected Forest Area. The number of individuals in the first sub-population is 10 individuals, the second sub-population is 13 individuals, and the third sub-population is 15 individuals. Based on the age structure, the number of young individuals, namely teenagers and children, including babies, in the third sub-population is greater (24 individuals) compared to adults (14 individuals). The sex ratio of adult male and female hoops, namely (1:3) in subpopulations I and II, is higher than subpopulation III (1:2), whereas in the juvenile group, the sex ratio in subpopulation III (1:4) is higher than subpopulation I and II (1:2). Abstract

Research aimed to determine the improvement in high school (SMA) biology learning outcomes through collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Brawijaya University. The chosen methodology is quantitative descriptive. The collaboration commenced with an agreement between the School of Veterinary Medicine and SMAN 8 Malang. Participants included 34 11th-grade students and 3 biology teachers. The event began with an opening ceremony, followed by administering a pretest and distributing worksheets to the participants. The workshop comprised two main steps. Firstly, a seminar on various animal anatomies was conducted by faculty members from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, lasting for 100 minutes. Subsequently, practical sessions on bovine osteology and direct examination of animal organs, including mice, chickens, and fish, took place over 180 minutes. These practical sessions were guided by students from the School of Veterinary Medicine serving as assistants in the Anatomy Laboratory. Finally, participants underwent a posttest, completed a questionnaire, and took a group photo. Pretest and posttest scores were evaluated. The research findings indicate that the average pretest score was 25.38±4.73. Following the workshop activities, the average posttest score increased to 51.83±17.22, signifying a 100% improvement in the average posttest scores. Additionally, 18.92% of participants achieved scores exceeding 70. Based on the questionnaire, the majority of participants (55.56%) rated the collaboration activity as excellent. In conclusion, this collaboration significantly enhances biology learning in high schools, providing substantial benefits for both students and teachers. Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using card sort type active learning on Biology learning outcomes for class X SMA N 1 Palembayan students. This type of research uses a quassy experiment. The population in this study was 60 students. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique so that class X.1 was obtained as the experimental class and X.2 as the control class. The research instrument is an objective test consisting of 35 questions. The research results show that the data processing of the final test results is calculated using the t-test with the test criteria of accepting Ho if tcount<ttable and accepting H1 if tcount>ttable. From data analysis, it is obtained that tcount= 2.07 and ttable for the 1-α probability is 1.68, because tcount > ttable. In conclusion, there is a significant positive influence from the use of card sort type active learning on Biology learning outcomes for class X SMA N 1 Palembayan students. Abstract

This research aims to classify the types of pests on rice leaves using Tensorflow with the CNN method to make it easier for the public to know the types of pests that exist on rice plants. The research results showed that initially the accuracy was only 61% but was successfully increased to 99% through various variation tests. Accuracy is affected by the background of the object and the distance of the device. Results show this model provides accurate predictions, with an average accuracy of around 90%. In conclusion, the results of rice plant pest classification using the CNN model for detecting rice plant pests using the Android-based Tensorflow framework make it easier to classify pest types on leafy rice plants. Abstract

This research aims to determine the benefits of using a combination of POC A. microphylla and tea dregs on the growth and productivity of lettuce plants using the hydroponic method. The research method used was an experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 factors including the volume of POC administration consisting of three levels (V1=150 ml, V2=200 ml, and V3=250 ml) and the time interval for POC administration consisting of level prayer (I1=once 3 days, and I2=once 6 days). The research results show that the combination of A. mycrophylla liquid organic fertilizer and tea dregs can effectively increase the growth of lettuce plants using the hydroponic method which includes the parameters of plant height, number of leaves and wet weight of the plant. The most optimal growth of lettuce was in the V2l1 treatment (volume of 200 ml POC given at three-day intervals) with an average plant height of 14.3 cm, an average increase in the number of leaves was 9 and the plant's wet weight was 0. 26 grams. In conclusion, applying liquid organic fertilizer with a combination of A. mycrophylla and tea dregs is effective on the growth of lettuce plants. Keywords: Tea Dregs, A.
