Abstract

This study aims to Develop geometry teaching materials based on the ethnomathematics of the Kejei Dance that are valid and practical for use in mathematics learning. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D Development model consisting of the define, Design, Develop, and disseminate stages. However, this study is limited to the Develop stage. The subjects of this study were 22 seventh-grade students of SMPN 09 Lebong. The data collection instruments used were expert validation sheets to measure the validity of the teaching materials and questionnaires for teachers’ and students’ responses to determine the practicality of the product. The results show that the geometry teaching materials based on the ethnomathematics of the Kejei Dance obtained an average validity score of 87.3%, categorized as very valid based on expert assessments of material and media. In addition, the practicality test results based on teachers’ and students’ responses showed an average percentage of 91.7%, categorized as very practical. These results indicate that the Developed teaching materials are feasible for use in mathematics learning.   Kata Kunci: Teaching Materials, Ethnomathematics, Geometry, Kejei Dance, Student Worksheets.

Abstract

This study aims to produce Project Based Learning (PjBL) based Student Worksheets (LKPD) on Statistics material to support valid and practical numeracy literacy skills of eighth grade junior high school students. This research is a development research (Research and Development) using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), but the research was only carried out up to the Develop stage. The research subjects consisted of two validators and 29 eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Kota Bengkulu. The instruments used were validation sheets and practicality questionnaires. The validation results showed that the PjBL-based LKPD obtained an average percentage of 93.83% with a very valid category. The results of limited trials showed that the developed LKPD received a positive response from students so that it was included in the very practical category. PjBL-based LKPD on Statistics material facilitates students in data collection, data processing, data presentation, and data interpretation activities through contextual project activities. In conclusion, LKPD based on Project Based Learning on Statistics material is suitable for use as an alternative teaching material to support students' numeracy literacy skills.   Keywords: Student Worksheet, Project Based Learning, Numeracy Literacy, Statistics, 4D Development Model.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Student Worksheet (LKPD) on the concept of ethnomathematic comparison of Bengkulu's traditional food, namely lemang. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D development model that includes the Define, Design, and Develop stages. The research subjects consisted of 28 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 10 Bengkulu City. The instruments used were expert validation sheets and teacher and student response questionnaires to measure the level of validity and practicality of the product. The results showed that the developed LKPD obtained a validity level of 92.7% with a very valid category. In addition, the results of the practicality test showed an average value of 85.3% with a very practical category. This indicates that the LKPD based on ethnomathematics in the context of lemang is suitable for use in mathematics learning, especially on comparison material. Conclusion, The use of local cultural contexts has also been proven to be able to increase students' interest and understanding of mathematical concepts in a more contextual and meaningful way.   Keywords: LKPD; ethnomathematics; comparison; lemang; development.

Abstract

Bengkulu City is one of the regions in Indonesia with a high level of earthquake susceptibility. To understand the seismic characteristics of the soil in this area, this study employs the Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) method based on microtremor data to identify the dominant frequency (F0) and amplification factor (A0), which play a crucial role in seismic microzonation analysis. This study collected 143 microtremor measurement points distributed across Bengkulu City, which were analyzed using Geopsy software to obtain dominant period (Tdom) values and classify soil types. The analysis results indicate that the dominant period values in Bengkulu City range from 0.09213 s to 0.722799 s, reflecting variations in soil characteristics across the region. Overall, Bengkulu City is predominantly composed of medium to hard soil, with most areas such as Pondok Kelapa, Muara Bangka Hulu, the southern part of Sungai Serut, Selebar, and Kampung Melayu classified as medium soil. Meanwhile, hard soil to bedrock classifications are found in Teluk Segara, Ratu Samban, Ratu Agung, Singaran Pati, and the southeastern part of Muara Bangka Hulu, which are dominated by the Alluvium and Terrace Alluvium formations. Additionally, soft soil areas are located in the central part of Sungai Serut, influenced by their proximity to water bodies such as lakes and swamps. These findings confirm that areas with soft soil have a higher potential for seismic amplification, making them more vulnerable to earthquake shaking. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for disaster mitigation, particularly in earthquake-resistant infrastructure planning and construction in Bengkulu City.   Keywords: HVSR, Dominant period, Amplification

Abstract

Accurate ocean wave forecasting plays a pivotal role in navigational safety, maritime resource management, and offshore oil and gas operations, particularly within the Makassar Strait, which exhibits complex hydrodynamic dynamics. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the InaWave numerical model integrated into the BMKG Ocean Forecasting System through validation against in-situ observation data from a wave recorder positioned on the FPU Jangkrik offshore platform throughout 2023. The results indicate that the InaWave model effectively captures the fluctuation patterns of Significant Wave Height (SWH) with a strong correlation coefficient of 0.88, demonstrating a robust linear relationship between simulations and observations. However, the model exhibits a systematic underestimation bias, specifically during high-wave conditions, with a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.36 meters. The error distribution, centered near zero, suggests high accuracy under low-to-moderate wave conditions, yet highlights the necessity for refinement in capturing extreme dynamics. Overall, this research underscores that integrating in-situ observational data from offshore platforms is a critical instrument for enhancing the precision of ocean forecasting systems. The successful reconstruction of wave patterns by the InaWave model confirms its operational reliability for complex maritime environments. These findings not only provide a scientific foundation for strengthening Indonesia’s maritime early warning systems but also offer an applicable validation framework for numerical model development in other strategic global waters to mitigate operational risks and ensure marine ecosystem sustainability.   Keywords: InaWave Model, Numerical Model Validation, X-Band Wave Radar, Significant Wave Height, Makassar Strait.

Abstract

This study aims to predict the Fine Fuel Moisture Code (FFMC) as an indicator of the ignitability level of natural fuels using the Random Forest algorithm. FFMC is an essential component of fire danger rating systems, used to describe the dryness level of fine fuels; therefore, accurate prediction is crucial for forest and land fire mitigation efforts. The research utilizes meteorological variables—including maximum temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and rainfall—as input parameters. The model implementation is carried out in Google Colab using the Python programming language, accompanied by hyperparameter tuning through GridSearchCV to obtain the most optimal model configuration.The results indicate that relative humidity and rainfall are the most influential meteorological features in predicting FFMC. The developed Random Forest model demonstrates excellent performance, as reflected by a Mean Squared Error of 8,875 and an R-squared value of 0,974, which signifies a very high predictive capability. These findings confirm that the machine-learning approach based on Random Forest is able to produce precise FFMC estimations, thereby giving the model strong potential for integration into early warning systems for forest and land fires. Such integration would support decision-making processes, enhance the effectiveness of mitigation strategies, and strengthen preparedness in managing fire-related risks.   Keywords: Fine Fuel Moisture Code, Fire Danger Prediction, Meteorological Features, Machine Learning, Random Forest.

Abstract

A region’s geological medium provides distinct local features that affect the propagation of seismic waves. This study looked at subsurface conditions down to 30 meters in order to assess the potential for seismic wave amplification during earthquakes. This research aims to determine the subsurface characteristics using the shear wave (Vs) parameters obtained using the multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW) method.Twenty-four vertical geophones with a natural frequency of 4.5 Hz were subjected to the MASW technique. Through shear wave analysis, site classification was conducted referring to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 1726:2019, enabling evaluation of potential amplification across various sites. Reference sensors were selected from locations across Central Java, including the MBJI (Banjarnegara), KWJI (Wonosobo), KBJN and GTJI (Temanggung), GBJI (Batang), NSM01 (Central Semarang), SMRI and SMRIB (Tembalang), and BOJI (Boyolali).The lowest Vs30 value (165.1 m/s) was recorded at site NSM01 (Pendrikan Kidul, Central Semarang), while the highest (1868 m/s) was recorded at MBJI (Majalengka, Banjarnegara). Most reference sites were classified as Site Class C (very dense soil and soft rock). However, NSM01 was categorized as Site Class E (Soft Soil), indicating a higher potential for ground motion amplification, while MBJI presented minimal amplification risk due to its hard rock base.The findings highlight the importance of subsurface characterization for seismic hazard mitigation. The variation in Vs30 across the study sites reflects the lithological differences that directly affect the ground response during seismic events. Therefore, MASW provides essential data for improving earthquake-resistant infrastructure planning in Central Java.

Abstract

This study analyzes the distribution pattern of sea surface temperature (SST) in Indonesia throughout the year and examines its impact on marine ecosystems and other marine parameters. SST in Indonesia shows significant seasonal variation, influenced by the apparent motion of the sun and seasonal wind circulation patterns. High SST during the rainy season supports convection and rainfall activities, but has the potential to increase the risk of coral bleaching. Conversely, low SST during the dry season triggers an upwelling phenomenon that brings nutrients from the bottom layer of the sea to the surface, increasing primary productivity. In addition, changes in SST affect salinity, ocean currents, and ocean wave intensity, which have important implications for marine ecosystems and marine resource management. These findings provide in-depth insights that are relevant to support climate change mitigation and adaptation planning to global climate dynamics.   Keywords: Sea Surface Temperature, Apparent Motion of the Sun, Marine Ecosystems, Seasonal Variability.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the Learning obstacles experienced by students in learning quadrilaterals and to analyze how these obstacles indicate the emergence of a conceptual crisis. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach involving junior high school students as research subjects. Data were collected through diagnostic tests, interviews, and classroom observations to explore students’ learning difficulties in greater depth. The findings show that students still encounter various types of Learning obstacles, including ontogenic, epistemological, and didactical obstacles. These obstacles are evident in students’ inability to understand basic concepts, difficulties in connecting different representations of geometric figures, and the mismatch between teachers’ instructional strategies and students’ learning characteristics. These conditions indicate the presence of a conceptual crisis that may hinder students’ understanding of more complex mathematical concepts. In conclusion, this study emphasizes that the Learning obstacles identified are influenced not only by students’ initial abilities but also by instructional resources and the teaching approaches used. The findings contribute theoretically to the discussion of Learning obstacles in mathematics education and provide practical recommendations for teachers in designing geometry instruction that is more contextual, interactive, and conceptually oriented. Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mathematical critical thinking ability and learning motivation on the topic of Arithmetic Sequences and Series among grade X students at SMA Negeri Rupit. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method supported by quantitative data. The participants were 36 students consisting of 16 males and 20 females. Data were collected through a mathematical critical thinking test, learning motivation questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, and classroom observations. The results revealed that students' mathematical critical thinking ability was in the moderate category with an average score of 60.18%. Learning motivation was categorized as low with an average of 55.40%. The conclusion is there was a positive relationship between critical thinking ability and learning motivation. It is recommended that mathematics learning should implement Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) models combined with STEM-based media to simultaneously enhance students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation.
