Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of LUMATIKA media on students' learning interest in mathematics learning at SMP Negeri 05 Poleang Timur. This study uses a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. The class selection uses Random Sampling and quantitative data are obtained through a learning interest questionnaire given before and after learning in the form of pretest and posttest, while qualitative data are obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation to strengthen the research results. The research subjects amounted to 3 students selected using purposive sampling technique. Quantitative data analysis was carried out through normality test and paired sample t-test to determine differences in students' learning interest before and after the use of LUMATIKA media. In addition, Cohen’s d calculation was used to determine the magnitude of the effect of using the media. The results of the normality test showed that the data were normally distributed with a calculated W value of 0.96 which is greater than the W table of 0.920 at a significance level of 5%. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), which means that there is a significant difference between students' learning interest before and after the use of LUMATIKA media. The Cohen’s d value of 0.82 is in the large effect, as well as interviews conducted on students selected based on their level of learning interest, this shows that the implementation of LUMATIKA media has an effect on students' learning interest."   Keywords: LUMATIKA, Learning Interest, Mathematics Learning.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of Random Forest and K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithms in classifying daily weather categories at Kemayoran Meteorological Station, Jakarta. The data used were BMKG observation data from 2017 to 2023, with classification targets consisting of No Significant Weather, RA, TS, and TS,RA. The variables included temperature, rainfall, air pressure, humidity, wind speed, sunshine duration, wind direction, and month. The data were preprocessed and divided into training and testing sets using an 80:20 ratio. The results showed that Random Forest achieved an accuracy of 78% with a weighted average F1-score of 0.75, while KNN achieved an accuracy of 65% with a weighted average F1-score of 0.59. Random Forest performed better in classifying dominant weather categories, although both algorithms still had limitations in identifying minority categories, particularly TS. These findings indicate that Random Forest is more suitable for daily weather classification based on BMKG observation data in urban areas.   Keywords: K-Nearest Neighbors; Random Forest; Weather Classification

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the existence of eigenvalues in the min-plus algebra matrix structure and to explain their relevance to shortest path problems in defense logistics systems. The method used is a literature study of sources discussing the theory of eigenvalues, eigenvectors, precedence graphs, minimum mean weight of elementary circuits, and the application of eigenvalues in the min-plus algebra matrix structure to shortest path determination. The results show that eigenvalues in the min-plus algebra matrix structure always exist due to the existence of the minimum mean weight of elementary circuits in the precedence graph of the min-plus algebra matrix structure. These eigenvalues have a mathematical interpretation as the minimum cycle time of a system, making them relevant for application in optimizing defense logistics distribution routes. The conclusion of this study shows that the existence of eigenvalues in the min-plus algebra matrix structure can serve as a mathematical basis for more efficient shortest path planning, particularly in minimizing delays in logistics distribution in the defense sector.   Keywords: Min-plus Algebra, Precedence Graph, Defense Logistics, Eigenvalues, Shortest Path

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of polyhedral constructions in terms of the Van Hiele theory of geometric thinking levels. The method used was descriptive research with a qualitative approach involving 26 ninth-grade students of SMP YAPIS Manokwari. Data were collected through tests and interviews. The tests were used to identify students' geometric thinking levels, while the interviews were conducted to explore students' perceptions of polyhedral constructions and to verify the test results. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the students were at the visualization and analysis levels. Students at the visualization level tended to understand three-dimensional figures based on their visual appearance and observable shapes, whereas students at the analysis level were able to identify component solids and recognize several geometric properties used in problem solving. However, students at both levels still experienced difficulties in understanding the relationships among the parts of composite solids comprehensively. In conclusion, students' perceptions of polyhedral constructions develop in accordance with their geometric thinking levels. Therefore, geometry instruction should be adjusted to students' stages of thinking in order to support the development of a deeper understanding of geometric concepts.   Keywords: Geometry, Perception, Van Hiele Theory, Level of thinking
