Abstract

This experiment aimed to investigate whether phytase-producing  bacteria isolated from vertisol soil in Gondangrejo have bacterial diversity and the ability to fertilize the soil. This research is exploratif and laboratory experiments. Bacteria in the rice roots (PJ2, PJ3, PP2, PP8, PU2, and PU +1) has the ability to grow at 70°C, and its enzyme activity is stable at 80°C and pH 4-8. Bacteria in the corn roots still grow (JP1, JW1, JPJ1, JPS1) and still active at 60°C, and the enzyme still active at 60°C and pH 4-8. Bacteria on the beans roots grew well (KPTU4, KPJW1, KPTU3, KTJ2) and still active at 60°C, and the enzyme activity at 60°C and pH 4-7. Bacteria on the sugar cane roots grew well (TS1, TS2, TU1, TJ4), active at 60°C and the enzyme activity at 60°C and pH 4-8. Bacteria on the cassava roots were good (SW2) and still active grow at 60°C, and at 90°C and pH 4-8, the enzyme still active. Bacteria on the great pumpkin roots were good (WP1, WP3), still active at 60°C, and the active enzymeactivity at 60°C and pH 5-8. Bacteria on the “gambas” roots grow well (GPP2, OU1, OU2) and still active at 60°C, and the enzyme still active at 60°C and pH 4-8. Rough of extracted enzyme from isolates of the best area of rice roots PU+2 and PU+1, beans KTJ2 and KPJW, sugar cane TU1 and TU2, corn JP1 and JPJ1, “gambas” GPP2 and OU2, were stable at 80°C. Selected isolates actived at pH 6-8 are PJ3, OU 2, WP1, WP4, JW1, JP1, KPtU 2, KJP1, KPtU4, TJ2, while PJ2 and TU1 were active in pH 6-9.

Abstract

The Curriculum of 2004 can be succesfully conducted if teachers have a correct perception on it. So, this research concerning on the perception of the teachers of biological subject upon the curriculum. The perception it self was interpreted in a view point of organization, and the interpretation toward the curriculum.23 teachers on biology were used as sample which were taken from the population of teachers on biology of Sukoharjo district (belongs to 7 junior high schools. The data were collected by using checklist, interview and documentation. Two form of checklist carried out were the attitude scales and the knowledge. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively in a percentage.The result of this research indicate that the attitude of teachers on biology to the Curriculum of 2004 were in the medium scale, beside the knowledge about the curriculum were in the good scale

Abstract

The objectives of this research were knowing the relation among level of education, mother’s nutritional knowledge and family income toward family diet in Kelurahan Jatosobo, Polokarto, Kabupaten Sukoharjo.The method of this research was descriptive-quantitative by ex post facto. The population sampled was the 186 people represented all family in Jatisobo. The data was analyzed by regression-correlation. The results showed that level of education was correlated positively with the family diet (r observed was higher than r ^0, 4046 > 0,304, at significant level of 0.05). Mother’s knowledge of nutrition was positively correlated with family diet (r observed was higher than r tabu 0, 3560 > 0,304, at significant level of 0.05). The Family income was correlated positively with the family diet (r observed was higher than r tahie 0, 3054 > 0,304, at significant level of 5%). Those three parameter were all correlated positively with the family diet (r observed was higher than r Iaiie 0, 5415 > 0,304, F observed > F tabie 5,2561 > 2,85;at significant level of 0.05).

Abstract

This research aims to develop higher-level thinking tests on microbiology using computer assisted to measure high-level thinking skills of students who attended the Microbiology Course. The instrument was developed on Microsoft Office Power Point and Visual Basic for Application. The research stages followed the ten steps of Borg and Gall's R and D, done from February to July 2016. To test the validity of the instruments, the following steps were done: (1) expert validation involving microbiologists, ICT specialists, expert in research and evaluation of education; (2) small trial involved 12 students who took micobiology at Department of Biology Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS); (3) Test involves 20 students who took the same courses; and (4) external validity test involving 20 students who took the same courses. Pearson correlation analysis was applied for analysis the external validity test. The findings were the instruments were valid, reliable with high coefficient of 0.872> 0.456 (r table), level of difficulty with difficulty index of 0.3 to 0.7, and discriminant power either with index of 0.3 to 0.7. External validity was 0.757 (Strong). Conclusion of the study is a test instrument is feasible and effective to measure high-level thinking skills of students in microbiological related content.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran problem based learning terhadap penguasan fakta, konsep, prosedur dan metakognisi pada pembelajaran problem based learning pada pelajaran biologi. Penelitian merupakan quasi eksperiment dengan populasi penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas 10 SMAN 4 Surakarta, dengan 2 kelas sebagai sampel penelitian kontrol dan perlakuan. Penentuan sampel menggunakan purposive random sampling untuk dua kelas yang mempunyai kesamaan kemampuan dengan uji F(32;0,05)=3,998. Analisis pertanyaan peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan pembelajaran problem based learning menggunakan kualifikasi pertanyaan berdasarkan Taksonomi Bloom. Data dianalisis dengan anacova. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pembelajaran problem based learning mempengaruhi penguasaan pertanyaan ditinjou dari jumlah pertanyaan pada pengetahuan fakta, konsep, prosedur namun tidak untuk metakognisi.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to know: (1) the effect of learning model (PBL, LC7E, integration with LC7E and PBL) towards learning outcomes; (2) the effect of the high and the low of self-regulation towards learning outcomes; (3) the effect of the high and the low creativity on learning outcomes; (4) the interaction between the learning model with the self-regulation towards learning outcomes; (5) the interaction between learning model with the creativity towards learning outcomes; (6) the interaction between self-regulation with creativity towards learning outcomes; (7) the interaction between learning model with self regulation and creativity towards learning outcomes. This research using experiment method with factorial design 3x2x2. The population of the research was all of the students in X Sains class SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar for the first semester 2013/2014. The sample of the research was determined by cluster random sampling technique that consisted of three classes. The first experiment class was treated using PBL model, the second experiment class was treated using LC7E model, the third experiment class was treated using integration PBL and LC7E model. The test technique for collected data student’s achievement of the cognitive. The non-test technique by questionnaire for the ability self-regulation data, creativity, psychomotor aspects, affective aspects and observation sheets for affective and psychomotor aspects. The research hypothesis was analyzed with unequal cell number using software SPSS 18. The research result showed that: (1) There is effect between PBL model, LC7E model, integration of model PBL and LC7E towards learning outcomes of cognitive, affective, psychomotor; (2) there is effect between self-regulation towards cognitive; (3) there is effect between creativity towards the cognitive and affective; (4) no interaction between PBL model, LC7E model, integration of model PBL and LC7E,  with self-regulation on learning outcomes of cognitive, affective and psychomotor; (5) no interaction between PBL model, LC7E model, integration of PBL and LC7E model with creativity on learning outcomes of cognitive, affective and psychomotor; (6) no interaction between self-regulation with creativity on learning outcomes of cognitive, affective and psychomotor; (7) no interaction between PBL model, LC7E model, integration of PBL and LC7E model with self-regulation and creativity on learning outcomes of cognitive, affective, psychomotor.

Abstract

This study is a type of an action class study. The purpose of this researches are used to apply the discovery learning model and smart case strategy in order to improve students’ cognitive learning results and to find out the improvement of students’ affective and psychomotor learning results by applying the discovery learning model and smart case strategy.  There were 21 students in VII C Class of SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga used as the samples. The instrument of this research is observation sheets, questionnaires and tests. The descriptive analysis was employed in this study. The results of the cognitive learning result in cycle one show that the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) of 75 is 57,14% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. The students’ psychomotor minimum criteria with a good minimum score (≥ 20) in cycle one reaches 90,47% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. The students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria with a good minimum score (≥ 16) in cycle one is 87,71% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. Based on the results of this study, it is proven that the discovery learning model and smart case game could improve the students’ learning results and to train them to be skillful, active, and independent. Moreover, the students’ curiosity about the materials is so high that it will assist them in improving their learning results.

Abstract

The research and the development of the modules aims to know: 1) The characteristic of environmental pollution module based on problem posing with spider concept map; 2) The procedure of developing environmental pollution module based on problem posing with spider concept map; 3) The feasibility of environmental pollution module based on problem posing with spider concept map to empower students’ science process skills and students’ analyze abilities; and 4) Effectiveness of environmental pollution module based on problem posing with spider concept map to to empower students’ science process skills and students’ analyze abilities. The method used in the research is Research and Development (R&D) modification of Borg & Gall (Tim Puslitjaknov, 2008: 10-11). The subject used in preliminary field test consisting of 10 students’, the main field subject consisting of 10 students’ and opeational field subject consisting of 32 students’ SMAN 1 Sumberlawang. The instruments used in the research, mainly: questionaire, observation, interview and test. The operational field was conducted using one group pretest-postest design. Students’ science process skills and students’ analyze abilities were tested by paired sample t-test and counted by normalized gain score. The results of the research can be concluded that: 1) The characteristic of vironmental pollution module based on problem posing with spider concept map, mainly: aspect of students’ science process skills and students’ analyze abilities, science literate abilities (be able to understand, read, write and think in terms of science); 2) The development of environmental pollution module based on problem posing with spider concept map used modification Borg & Gall, mainly: preliminary research, planning, developing the initial products, preliminary field test, major product revision, main field test, the operational product revision, operational field, revision of the final product, the dissemination and the implementation of the product; 3) The feasibility of environmental pollution module based on problem posing with spider concept map average obtained is 3,51 that’s “very good” categories; and 4) The environmental pollution module based on problem posing with spider concept map is effective to empowering students’ science process skills with 0,60 N-gain score that’s “middle” categories and empowering students’ analyze abilities with 0,57 N-gain score that’s “middle” categories.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning model to the students' procedural knowledge on the concept of eubacteria. This research was conducted during October 2015 in one of State Senior High School in Jakarta. The research method used is Quasi-Experiments. The research sampling technique used simple random sampling, with sample of 30 students for experimental group and 30 students for control group. The instrument used in this research is 10 procedural knowledge description test. Based on the data analysis through t-test statistic, the results indicate that there is an influence of project-based learning model to the students' procedural knowledge on the concept of eubacteria.

Abstract

Some waters are experiencing errors processing till that waters to be waste disposal which resulted in the loss of existing potential, affect water quality and further on the presence of organisms present in the water, especially plankton (phytoplankton) which is the first organisms respond to changes in water quality. One of the pollutants in the water is mud Lapo in Porong, Sidoarjo. This research aims to identify phytoplankton in polluted waters, lapindo mud Porong, Sidoarjo. The method used is the method description. The analysis of samples carried out in the laboratory of Ecology Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Technology, Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University Malang . The results of this research was the discovery of 18 species of phytoplankton of the class Chlorophyceae, Trebouxiophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, and from the Division Cyanophyta genus Oscillatoria and Chrococcus.
