Abstract

Islamic Sharia is a religious law that regulates the rules of human life based on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). and based on Al-Qur’an. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of the implementation of Islamic law (Sharia) in Aceh from a contemporary socio-legal perspective. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using primary data collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews, supported by secondary data from legal documents and academic literature. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis and an interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The finding reveal that the implementation of Sharia in Aceh is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon influenced not only by legal norms but also by social, cultural, and political factors. The level of public understanding of sharia varies significantly, with many individuals demontrating only a formal or superficial understanding rather than a substantive one. In Practice, sharia implementation tends to be more symbolic, particularly in visible aspects such as dress codes and ritual observances, while its ethical and social values are not fully internalized. Furthermore, the relationship between Islamic law and national law reflects a pattern of legal pluralism, where different legal systems coexist and interact, sometimes harmoniously and at other times conflictually.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the influence of church music on the religiosity of Christians in their lives as religious people and its relationship with human psychology. From there, the researchers analyzed the impact of church music on the religiosity of Christians in the Jawi Wetan Gedangan Christian Church. This study uses a psychological approach to the type of field research (grounded research). The research method used in discussing and researching this research is the descriptive method of qualitative analysis. A descriptive analysis method was used to describe the form of accompaniment music used by the Jawi Wetan Gedangan Christian Church and to analyze the influence of the congregation who attended the service. I found that church music is an essential element in worship in the Church, a complement to worship that can deepen the congregation's appreciation during prayer. The music used during worship can affect the congregation's enthusiasm to attend Church. Music creates a feeling of longing for church. The music playing can provoke the congregation's emotions so that they can express the contents of the heart that the people want to pour out to their Lord, and in this way, the feelings that are carried when entering the Church can be released and relieved.

Abstract

Community empowerment is an important effort to improve the capacity, independence, and welfare of communities, especially those living around forest areas. This study aims to analyze the role of stakeholders in empowering the Green Lawu Forest Farmer Group (KTH Green Lawu) in Berjo Village, Ngargoyoso District, Karanganyar Regency, and to identify the impacts and challenges faced by the group in the empowerment process. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants consisted of administrators and members of KTH Green Lawu, Berjo Village Government, managers of Tahura KGPAA Mangkunagoro I, forestry extension officers, and Pertamina as a supporting stakeholder through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that stakeholders play an important role in the empowerment process through facilitative, educational, technical, and representative functions. These roles were manifested through the provision of facilities, mentoring, training, opening access to networks, and support for productive business development. The empowerment process has had positive impacts on improving members’ capacity, creating economic opportunities, strengthening group institutions, and increasing community awareness of environmental conservation. However, the group still faces several challenges, including limited human resources, uneven member participation, limited business capital, and dependence on external stakeholders. Therefore, the empowerment of KTH Green Lawu has progressed fairly well, but it is still at the capacity-building stage and has not fully achieved group independence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Gawi dance as local wisdom in fostering religious harmony in Wologai Village, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving traditional leaders, religious leaders, and local community members selected purposively. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Gawi dance functions not only as a cultural expression but also as a social mechanism that strengthens social cohesion. The practice of Gawi creates an inclusive social space, enhances trust, and builds interreligious social networks. From a social capital perspective, Gawi serves as a medium for producing bridging social capital that connects individuals from different backgrounds through shared collective experiences. Furthermore, this cultural practice gains religious legitimacy, allowing it to be widely accepted within the community. This study highlights that local wisdom has significant potential in promoting sustainable and context-based religious harmony. Therefore, empowering local cultural practices can serve as an alternative approach to maintaining social harmony at the community level.

Abstract

This study examines the utilization of public space by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) along the sidewalks of Jalan Panjaitan in Gorontalo City. The phenomenon reflects a transformation in the function of sidewalks, which were initially intended for pedestrian facilities but later evolved into social and economic spaces within urban society. The research aims to analyze the patterns of public space utilization by MSME actors and the forms of social interaction emerging within the area. The study applies a descriptive qualitative method using a case study approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation involving MSME actors, local residents, visitors, and related government institutions. Data analysis was carried out through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by applying Jürgen Habermas’s public sphere theory perspective. The findings indicate that the sidewalks of Jalan Panjaitan are occupied by approximately 50 business units, including coffee vendors, snack sellers, fried rice traders, meatball vendors, flower merchants, and cake sellers. The presence of MSMEs not only contributes economic benefits to the community but also encourages social interactions that make the area more vibrant, particularly during nighttime activities. Nevertheless, these activities also affect the primary function of the sidewalks by reducing pedestrian comfort and increasing congestion within the area.

Abstract

Traditional modes of transportation such as becaks are part of the informal economy and have long facilitated the movement of people in cities across Indonesia. This study aims to examine the presence of becak drivers amidst the rise of app-based transportation and the strategies they employ to survive in Palangka Raya. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through interviews, field observations, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, while data analysis was conducted using the interactive model by Miles and Huberman. This study employs James C. Scott’s “Survival Mechanisms” theoretical framework, which encompasses three strategies: leveraging social networks, seeking alternative income sources, and adhering to the principle of “cost-saving.” The findings reveal that the presence of online ride-hailing services significantly impacts the economic conditions of becak drivers. This results in low and unstable daily incomes. In response, they seek other jobs, change their operating locations, and wait for passengers without a clear plan. Although their numbers have decreased, pedicab drivers remain because they play an important social role around traditional markets.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of fear of missing out (FoMO) experienced by students at Palangka Raya University (UPR) when participating as affiliates in the TikTok Affiliate program, within the context of the development of the digital economy and the influence of popular culture. The background indicates that social media is increasingly evolving into a platform for conducting business through e-commerce and social commerce, influenced by digital popular culture and the FoMO mindset prevalent among students. The theories employed include Manuel Castells’ theory of the network society, which emphasizes the importance of digital connections, and Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of social practice, which focuses on the roles of habitus and social, cultural, and economic capital. This study aims to identify the reasons why students engage in the TikTok Affiliate program and how the fear of missing out (FoMO) influences their participation. The method used is qualitative with a case study approach, including interviews, observations, and document collection. The results show that FoMO encourages students to get involved due to the influence of friends, current trends, and economic factors. In conclusion, the fear of missing out (FoMO) and the use of digital networks influence how students behave economically today.

Abstract

This study examines the role of traditional stilt houses as local wisdom derived from the ecological knowledge of the Dayak and Malay communities in West Kalimantan in flood disaster mitigation. Stilt houses are not merely cultural heritage but also an adaptive strategy that integrates ecological, social, and gender aspects to address the risk of annual flooding. Using a qualitative case study approach in a purposively selected flood-prone location, data were collected through field observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The results show that stilt houses are built at specific heights and materials based on inherited ecological experiences, providing physical protection, food storage, and a center for social coordination during floods. An early warning system based on natural signs, mutual cooperation practices, and traditional rituals support community preparedness and strengthen social solidarity. Gender analysis reveals the strategic role of women in food management, adaptive agriculture, and logistics coordination, which complement men's roles in social structures and decision-making. Furthermore, the integration of local knowledge with modern strategies, including the use of social media for mitigation information, strengthens the community's adaptive capacity. These findings confirm that successful flood mitigation is determined not only by infrastructure, but also by social participation, cultural practices, and the sustainable application of local ecological knowledge. This research makes an important contribution to the development of inclusive, sustainable disaster mitigation policies rooted in the local wisdom of Dayak and Malay communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of religion within the framework of secularization theory developed by Peter Berger and Jose Casanova, as well as to examine its relevance to the phenomenon of terrorism in contemporary society. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. The main sources of the study include Berger's works The Sacred Canopy and The Desecularization of the World, as well as Casanova's Public Religions in the Modern World, supported by secondary literature related to religion, radicalism, and terrorism. The analysis is conducted critically and comparatively to observe the interaction between secularization, religious revival, and the emergence of extremist movements. The results of the study indicate that secularization does not eliminate religion but rather transforms its role in the public sphere. Religious revival can strengthen moral and social solidarity, but it also has the potential to produce exclusive and radical religious expressions that legitimize violence. Therefore, efforts to counter terrorism need to consider the dynamics of religion and secularization, not solely relying on security approaches.

Abstract

Marriage is a social institution that plays an important role in society. However, social developments and changes in people’s mindset have led to differences in perspectives on marriage, particularly between Generation Y and Generation Z. This study aims to identify the meaning of marriage according to Generation Y and Generation Z and to analyze the factors influencing the differences in their perspectives on marriage in Palangka Raya City. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The informants consisted of eight individuals from Generation Y and Generation Z, including both married and unmarried participants. Informants were selected purposively based on criteria relevant to the research objectives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Generation Y tends to interpret marriage as an important stage of life related to social responsibility, religious values, and maturity. Meanwhile, Generation Z tends to view marriage as a life choice that requires mental, emotional, and financial readiness. These differences are influenced by economic factors, family environment, social experiences, social media, and religious values. This study shows that the meaning of marriage continues to change along with social developments and the life experiences experienced by each generation.
