Abstract

Vaginal discharge is a reproductive health problem that is often experienced by adolescent girls, but is often considered normal so it is not taken seriously. In fact, vaginal discharge can be a sign of certain diseases so good knowledge is needed to prevent the risks. Increasing knowledge and behavior of genetically modified personal hygiene is important to form adolescent awareness in maintaining the cleanliness of the reproductive organs. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and personal hygiene genetalia with the degree of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls. This study used a cross sectional analytical design with a research sample consisting of 182 adolescent girls in grades 7 and 8 at SMPN 1 Wajak. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire, then the data was analyzed using a Gamma statistical test. The research instruments used were based on indicators of knowledge, personal hygiene behavior, and degree of vaginal discharge. The results of this study show that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and vaginal discharge in adolescent girls with a ρ value of 0.011 and there is also a relationship between genetic personal hygiene behavior and the degree of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls with a ρ value of 0.042. These findings indicate that adolescent girls' understanding of vaginal discharge and genetic personal hygiene behaviors still needs to be improved, so schools and health workers need to strengthen reproductive education, and further research is recommended to develop.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels due to impaired insulin secretion or function, and it is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. One of the important components in managing DM is adherence to a regular and recommended diet. This study aimed to determine the relationship between family support and dietary adherence in people with Diabetes Mellitus. The study used a correlational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 50 individuals with DM as respondents. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, and the data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed a relationship between family support and dietary adherence in patients with Diabetes Mellitus with a p-value of 0.002 (α = 0.05). These findings indicate that family support plays an important role in improving dietary adherence in people with Diabetes Mellitus and emphasize the need for family involvement in diet management education and interventions to optimize disease control.

Abstract

Accurate drug needs planning is an important component in ensuring the continuity of hypertension therapy as a chronic disease with high prevalence. However, the UPT Puskesmas Selat Baru still faces inaccuracies in the preparation of the Drug Needs Plan (RKO), which is marked by the occurrence of 27 incidents of stock-out of antihypertensive drugs and stock accumulation that causes expired drugs and state losses. This study aims to analyze the root causes of RKO inaccuracies and formulate alternative data-driven solutions to improve the effectiveness of drug management. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design through in-depth interviews, observations, and document review on purposively selected informants, including the Head of the Health Center, the Pharmacist in Charge, the Person in Charge of the P2PTM Program, and the Regency IFLK Pharmacist. Data validity is obtained through triangulation of sources, methods, and data. The analysis is carried out using the problem solving cycle and Fishbone Analysis to identify the main cause of the problem. The results of the study showed that the inaccuracy of planning was caused by the use of historical consumption methods without considering epidemiological trends, manual stock recording, low data accuracy, and low competence of officers in disease-based forecasting. The consequences are the instability of the availability of drugs, the non-achievement of Hypertension SPM, and budget losses. The study concluded that increasing human resource capacity through technical training "Epidemiology-Based RKO Management" is the most effective solution to improve planning accuracy and prevent recurrence of drug availability problems.

Abstract

The low coverage of hypertension screening in the working area of the Teluk Belitung Community Health Center poses a serious challenge in controlling Non Communicable Diseases, with data showing that routine community participation is only 36.5%. This study aims to analyze the low coverage of hypertension screening and to formulate strategies for optimizing the performance of health cadres as the frontline of early detection in the community. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, data were collected through in depth interviews, observations, and document review. Data were analyzed using the Urgency, Seriousness, Growth method to determine problem priorities and SWOT analysis for strategy formulation. The results of the Urgency, Seriousness, Growth analysis identified that suboptimal cadre skills were the main root problem with the highest priority score of 15. Based on the SWOT matrix, this study recommends intervention strategies in the form of transforming guidance methods through a peer-coaching system (Core Cadres) supported by Health Operational Assistance, intensification of outreach services (Mobile Integrated Health Posts), integration of services into community socio cultural activities, and strengthening cross sectoral advocacy to obtain village level regulatory support and village funding. This strategy is expected to change the paradigm of cadre development from a centralized approach to community empowerment supported by local policies as a fundamental step to ensure program sustainability and the achievement of Minimum Service Standard targets in hypertension control.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using news video media in increasing the knowledge of grade X students of SMA Negeri 18 Medan regarding earthquake disasters. Earthquakes are disasters that have a significant impact on people's lives, especially in earthquake-prone areas. News video media was chosen because of its ability to present factual information visually and attractively. The methods used included observation, interviews, and pretest-posttest questionnaires on 36 students. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the news video media intervention, with an average pretest score of 8.53 to 9.81 in the posttest (p = 0.000). This media is effective as an educational tool that strengthens earthquake disaster preparedness.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus continues to increase in prevalence in Indonesia and worldwide. It is a metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from impaired insulin secretion or insulin resistance. The most common type is Type II diabetes mellitus, which is often associated with lifestyle and dietary patterns. The World Health Organization estimates that the number of patients with diabetes mellitus in Indonesia will reach 21.3 million people. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes among patients with Type II diabetes mellitus at Medan Johor Community Health Center. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 2,210 patients with Type II diabetes mellitus, with a sample of 100 respondents selected using the Slovin formula. Data analysis was conducted using bivariate and multivariate tests to determine the relationship and influence between variables. The results showed that knowledge (p = 0.003) and attitudes (p = 0.004) had a significant relationship with a healthy lifestyle among patients with Type II diabetes mellitus.
