Abstract

Education in remote areas of Indonesia faces significant challenges that hinder access to and the quality of learning. Economic factors, geographical limitations, ineffective school management, low teacher competency, and inadequate infrastructure and external support are the main obstacles to creating an inclusive and sustainable education system. This study aims to analyze the key challenges in rural education in Indonesia and explore policy-based solutions by referencing best practices from other countries. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through document analysis, interviews with educators and policymakers, and field observations in several remote areas. Thematic analysis was used to identify major patterns in educational challenges, which were then compared with education models in Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea. Data triangulation was applied to enhance the validity of findings and ensure that policy recommendations align with local needs. The study's findings indicate that low teacher welfare, a lack of professional training, and the misalignment of the curriculum with local needs are the primary factors impeding the development of education in remote areas. Japan has successfully addressed similar challenges by increasing teacher salaries and providing rigorous training programs. Vietnam has implemented education decentralization to ensure policies are more adaptive to local conditions, while South Korea has leveraged digital technology to expand education access. The implications of this research suggest that Indonesia needs to adopt a more strategic approach to improving education quality in remote areas, including investing in teacher welfare, reforming the curriculum to better suit local contexts, and strengthening technology-based educational infrastructure. This study contributes to the literature on educational disparities in developing countries and provides insights for policymakers to design more effective strategies in achieving Indonesia’s Vision 2045.

Abstract

This paper discusses the concept of Islamic economics as applied during three caliphate periods: the Umayyad Caliphate, the Abbasid Caliphate, and the Ottoman Empire. Each of these periods played a significant role in introducing and developing economic principles based on Sharia law, encompassing areas such as taxation systems, land management, trade, and banking, as well as endowments (waqf). We hope this paper provides deeper insights into how Islamic economics has been implemented since the time of the caliphates and the important contributions it has made to the history of Islamic civilization. Islamic economics is an economic system derived from Islamic values, guided by the Quran, Hadith, and the ijtihad (independent reasoning) of Islamic scholars. This concept aims to achieve human welfare through justice, honesty, and prosperity without exploitation or oppression. During the Islamic caliphate periods, such as the Umayyad, Abbasid, and Ottoman eras, Islamic economic principles were applied in various fields, including banking, trade, and state administration. This paper explores the development of Islamic economics during each of these periods and their respective contributions to building the Islamic economic system.

Abstract

Bullying is a serious problem in Indonesia's educational environment that requires a comprehensive approach. This study aims to analyze the bullying prevention socialization program through mini cinema at SD Negeri Simaja using descriptive qualitative method. Activities were carried out for students in grades 4, 5, and 6, using an interactive approach with three main activities, namely, screening educational films, active discussions, and giving rewards. The results showed that the program succeeded in raising students' awareness about various forms of bullying, including verbal, physical and social bullying. Through the movie themed “say no to bullying, say yes to friedship”, students were able to identify bullying and its psychological impact. Interactive discussions and reward systems proved effective in encouraging students' active participation. The main obstacles include students' limited understanding of bullying and the psychological constraints of shy students. Strategies to overcome these obstacles were through providing in-depth context before the movie screening, and a gradual approach to invite students to be more active.
