Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyse SES variables that have an influence on learning achievement. This research method uses literature review. The data used comes from books and scientific journals that are relevant to the theme of the paper. SES variables used by researchers to measure the influence of SES on learning achievement include parents‘ educational background, occupation, parents’ income, parents' involvement, and family wealth or assets. Each of these indicators supports each other on student learning achievement. This finding shows that the higher the socioeconomic status of parents, the higher the student learning achievement. So the socioeconomic status of parents can affect student learning achievement directly or indirectly. The conclusion of the findings of this study from the educational background of parents, occupation, parental income, parental involvement, and family wealth or assets, each of these indicators supports each other on student learning achievement because the socioeconomic status of parents has a strong impact on student learning achievement

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the adiwiyata programme through planting corner activities at SDN Simaja in an effort to shape students' environmental awareness character. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study investigates how planting corner activities contribute to fostering environmental awareness. The results showed that the programme succeeded in transforming empty land into a useful green area through students' active involvement in various activities, ranging from land clearing, making vases from plastic waste to plant maintenance. These activities not only improved the aesthetics of the school environment but also developed gardening skills, teamwork and a sense of responsibility in students. Despite challenges such as the lack of focus on the students' difficulty in controlling the commotion, the programme proved to be effective in instilling the values of environmental stewardship. environment. The success of the programme is shown through physical changes in the school environment and increased environmental awareness in students.

Abstract

Speech acts are defined as actions that regulate how to speak well. Illocutionary speech acts function to convey information or can also be used to do something. The purpose of this study is to identify the illocutionary speech contained in the podcast bocor alus politik “dizzy from free lunch”. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique in this research uses listening and note taking. The source of data in this research is the video of the podcast bocor alus politics “dizzy due to free lunch”. The theory used is the study of pragmatics. This study uses illocutionary speech acts. The results of the speech act research on the podcast video bocor alus politics “dizzy from lunch” found as many as 14 assertive speech acts, 10 directive speech acts, 4 expressive speech acts, 3 commissive speech acts, and 2 declarative speech acts.

Abstract

Speaking in a foreign language can cause anxiety for many EFL students and it can result a big impact on their performances and overall learning experiences. This study aims to explore the level of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety (FLCA) and the relationship between FLCA and speaking performance among EFL students. This research employed a mix method research design, it is combination between descriptive qualitative and quantitative to explore the level of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety (FLCA) and its correlation with students’ speaking performance. This research was conducted in one of universities in Bandung. 24 students who are English students were selected using purposive sampling techniques as participants of this study. Additionally, the findings imply that educators and institutions must prioritize strategies to reduce anxiety in speaking classes and highlight the need for awareness among teachers regarding the impact of anxiety on student performance. It is expected that teacher can create a supportive and non-judgmental environment in the classroom, reduce the pressure on individual students, and allow them to practice speaking in a less intimidating context.

Abstract

This study investigates the strategies used by junior high school students to overcome difficulties in speaking English. Through qualitative interviews with twelve eighth-grade students at a junior high school in Bandung, this research identifies common strategies employed by students to address these challenges. The strategies include preparation before speaking, expanding vocabulary through music, reading English texts, studying grammar, and integrating information and communication technology (ICT) tools like Duolingo. The findings suggest that preparation helps students organize thoughts and reduce anxiety, while vocabulary expansion and grammar study are key for effective communication. ICT, particularly Duolingo, plays a significant role in enhancing speaking skills by providing interactive and engaging platforms for practice. These results inferred that educators can use these insights to adopt more effective teaching methods, while students can apply these strategies to boost their confidence and speaking abilities.

Abstract

This research focuses on the influence of village fund policy implementation on the effectiveness of poverty reduction programs in Cineam Sub-district, Tasikmalaya Regency. This research was conducted because data obtained indicates that poverty reduction in Cineam Sub-district sourced from Village Funds has not been effective. This is suspected to be due to a lack of policy strategies implemented by implementers. This research is expected to be beneficial for the Tasikmalaya Regency Government, especially in the Cineam Sub-district area. This research method encompasses descriptive analysis or correlational analysis. The sampling technique uses probability sampling, specifically proportionate stratified random sampling, from a total population of 131 people, resulting in a sample of 65 people. The phenomena under study are continuous variables, with data measured using a Likert scale. Data analysis employs non-parametric correlation analysis, namely Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, calculated using IBM SPSS 29.02.00 for Windows. Based on the results of the analysis and hypothesis testing, it can be seen that both variables, namely policy implementation (x) and program effectiveness (y), obtained empirical values categorized as moderate, and it is significantly proven that the sample taken applies to the entire population. Thus, it can be concluded that Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted and H0 (null hypothesis) is rejected, which indicates that there is an influence between the implementation of village fund policies on the effectiveness of poverty alleviation programs in Cineam District, Tasikmalaya Regency.

Abstract

Reflection on life problems is a stage for exploring a human's actions and experiences in everyday life. This reflection process can be taken from various sources including tembang dolanan. The tembang dolanan "E Dayohe Teko" is a manifestation of Javanese cultural expression which has deep meaning in human life and society today. This research aims to (1) find out how the tembang dolanan "E Dayohe Teko" is a reflection of life problems, especially socio-economic dynamics (2) Tembang as a cultural communication tool (3) The relevance of the song to the lives of today's society. The research method used is context description with data collection techniques through literature study. The source of this research is the folk song "E Dayohe Teko" by Djoyoboyo. The theory used is Folklore studies. The results of this research show that the traditional song "E Dayohe Teko" is an example of Indonesia's cultural richness which is still relevant as a reflection on the problems of contemporary human life.

Abstract

Slow learners in elementary schools often face challenges in maintaining learning motivation, which has an impact on their academic achievement. This study aims to improve the learning motivation of slow learner students in grade 5 at SDN 1 Jamblang through the application of contextual learning methods. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR) with a cycle model, including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and student learning motivation questionnaires. The results of the study showed that the contextual learning method was able to significantly improve student learning motivation. In the first cycle, student learning motivation increased by 20%, and in the second cycle, the increase reached 35% compared to the initial conditions. Learning that is relevant to students' daily lives, the use of concrete media, and interactive approaches have proven effective in helping slow learner students understand the material and increase their involvement in the learning process. This study emphasizes the importance of implementing contextual learning methods as a strategy to support the learning needs of slow learner students. The results of this study provide practical contributions for teachers in developing inclusive and effective learning approaches in elementary schools.

Abstract

The introduction of hijaiyah letters is an important stage in early childhood learning, especially to build a foundation for Al-Qur'an literacy. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using educational teaching aids (APE) made from used cardboard in introducing hijaiyah letters to PAUD children. The methodology used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) involving 26 teachers where the data collection process is taken directly by researchers using an instrument in the form of a media assessment Google form which explains the media and then asks respondents to answer and assess the quality of the media. . The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive analysis. The research results show that the value of the learning media components assessed by the teacher is ((X) ̅= 4.48, SD= 0.0586), and the value is more than the mean, namely 4.37 to 4.63. This shows that this media is worthy of use, with noted improvements in aspects of design and durability. This research concludes that APE media from used cardboard has great potential as an innovative and sustainable learning tool for introducing hijaiyah letters to PAUD children.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between hair care knowledge and hair care behavior in cosmetology education students of Jakarta State University. The population of this study was cosmetology students of Jakarta State University class of 2020-2023 as many as 183 students with a sample technique taken, namely purposive sampling from the population to 97 samples of veiled students. The results show that students have knowledge of hair care knowledge with a mean value of 4.46 and a mean value of hair care behavior with a veil of 52.61. In the linearity test analysis results showed a significant linear relationship between knowledge and behavior (p = 0.050). In the partial test (t-test) the result obtained is a significance value of 0.000. Therefore, it can be concluded that 0.000 <0.050 which indicates that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that the independent variable (X) has a significant relationship with the dependent variable (Y). Through the coefficient of determination test, a value of 0.134 is obtained, which means that the relationship between variable X (hair care knowledge) and variable Y (hair care behavior on the headscarf of Jakarta State University Cosmetology students) only contributes 13.4%. While the remaining 86.6% is another factor not examined in this study. This study provides important implications regarding the need for more intensive hair care education for female students wearing hijab in order to support their hair health.
