Scientific literacy skills are very important for students to master in facing the challenges of life in the 21st century but based on the results of the 2018 PISA survey, Indonesian students are still in the bottom ten ranks. The low scientific literacy skills of Indonesians students is partly due to the use of science books at school which emphasizes the content dimension rather than the process and context dimensions as demanded by PISA, another factor is the low interest of students in science because of assumption that science is a difficult and boring subject. the purpose of this research is to improve scientific literacy skills and students interest in science by providing treatment in the form of reading popular science books every day. The research methode used is pre experimental research design with pretest and posttest design. The research sample was 45 students of class VI private elementary schools in the city of Bandung. Scientific literacy ability is measured using scientific literacy question in the competencies aspect with indicators referring to the 2018 PISA framework, while the measurement of students scientific interest is carried out using a Likert scale. Based on the result of data processing obtained an N-Gain value 0.52 for indicators explaining phenomena scientifically, an N-Gain value of 0.33 for indicators of evaluating and designing scientific enquiry and an N-Gain value of 0.64 for indicators of interpreting data and evidence scientifically. The results of students’ interest in science an N-Gain value of 0.31 for indicator of enjoyment of science, an N-Gain value of 0.26 for an indicator of interest in doing science activity, an N-Gain value of 0.49 for indicator of motivation to learn science and an N-Gain value of 0.34 for indicator of science related career so it can be concluded that literacy program is effective enough to improve scientific literacy skills and students’ interest in science.

The data of pre-test was taken before treatment, used to determine students’ variance, whereas post-test data was taken after treatment entirely finished to examine students’ learning outcomes differences. Data analysis using SPSS 22 with ANOVA Factorial 2x2 (two- way ANOVA. The hypothesis testing was conducted in 5% of significance level. The result of data analysis indicates that the p-value of t-counted is 0.000 lower than 0.05(˂0.05). Abstract

The phenomena of plurality, multicultural and diversity become sunnatullah in social life. This implies the need for the concept of justice ('adalah), egalitarian (musaawah), tolerant (tasamuh) both related to differences in race, ethnicity, and religion. Today, the stigma of intolerance towards Islam with the emergence of violence and “fanaticism” and destructiveness has caused Islam to adopt the status quo. On the one hand, Islam is faced with the problem of liberalism, on the other hand, Islam is cornered with radicalism. This is in stark contrast to the fact that Islam is a religion of rahmatan lil 'alamin and a blessing for the universe. Such a reality becomes the background for how the samahah policies were implemented after the death of the apostle, especially during the khulafa 'rashidun period. This research is a library research which aims to describe how policy and implementation are related to the tolerance of the khulafa 'rashidun period. The results showed that: First, as a caliph who has a function as head of state and religion, the form of tolerance is based on Islamic principles with the principles of musawah and 'adalah. Second, in certain matters, the form of tolerance carried out by the caliphs far exceeded the policies applied in the Islamic domain, such as the policies carried out by Umar with the land reform system policy to the Qibti Christian community. Third, as an individual, the caliph's values are manifested in an attitude of tolerance by applying moral principles. These three things provide a conceptual framework for Islamic education that both normatively and historically, tolerance must be implemented proportionally based on Islamic values.
