Abstract

This study investigated the influence of teaching methods and media on the effectiveness of Arabic language instruction by teachers in Kampar District. A quantitative correlational research design was employed, conducted in Kampar in 2022. The participants were 39 Arabic language teachers in the district. Data was collected through questionnaires, observations, and document analysis. SPSS version 26 used to analyze the data. The findings revealed a significant positive correlation between the combined use of effective teaching methods and media and the overall effectiveness of Arabic language teaching. Based on these results, it was recommended that schools provide teachers with training on strategies to enhance teaching effectiveness. Additionally, teachers should be encouraged to explore and implement innovative teaching methods and media to improve their instructional practices.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop comic-based learning media for Arabic language instruction in Class X Culinary Arts at Hasbullah Bahrul Ulum creative Vocational School in Tambakberas Jombang. This research used a development approach with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). The data used were both quantitative and qualitative, collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, pre-tests, post-tests, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and a paired sample t-test. The validation results indicated that the developed comic-based learning media is highly valid and effective in increasing students' learning motivation, with a media expert validation score of 95% (very valid category) and a material expert validation score of 93.3% (very valid category). The novelty of this research lied in the application of comic-based media in Arabic language learning for vocational school students, which has been rarely explored in previous studies. This media emphasizes not only the language learning aspect but also the enhancement of students' motivation and engagement, which are key factors in achieving learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of contextual semantic theory in the teaching of Qirā’ah al-Kutub as a means to strengthen students’ linguistic competence. The approach emphasizes understanding word meanings (mufradāt) within social, cultural, and pragmatic contexts rather than focusing solely on grammatical structures. A descriptive-qualitative method was used, with data collected through questionnaires and interviews involving 10 students from the Islamic Family Law program who studied classical texts from Fiqh al-Sunnah. The findings indicated a significant improvement in meaning comprehension, learning motivation, and students' interpretative skills. Contextual semantics proved relevant for Arabic language education, especially in enhancing the ability to read and understand authentic texts. This research contributes to the development of context-based linguistic pedagogy in advanced Arabic language learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the concrete form of integrating the TPACK model in teaching reading skills (Mahārah al-Qirāʾah) to Arabic Language Education students at IAIN Lhokseumawe. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observations and interviews with the head of the study program, 2 lecturers, and 8 students. The data were analyzed through simplification, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the integration of the TPACK model in Mahārah al-Qirāʾah was carried out through three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Lecturers applied interactive and collaborative methods that enhanced students’ Arabic reading skills, including comprehension, fluency, and digital literacy. These efforts led to increased student engagement and motivation in learning. Therefore, the study concludes that the integration of TPACK in teaching Qira'ah was effectively implemented and aligns with the aim of providing an alternative model to improve reading skills in the Arabic Language Education Study Program at IAIN Lhokseumawe.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the type and level of engagement with Arabic-language social media among students in the Arabic Language Education Department at Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University in Malang. The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach. The research population consisted of students from the Arabic Language Teaching Department, with a sample selected through purposive sampling, focusing on those who utilized social media for Arabic language learning in class. Data were collected using questionnaires featuring a Likert scale and brief interviews. The researchers employed descriptive statistical analysis to summarize and present the collected data in terms of frequencies, percentages, and means, providing an overview of students' participation in Arabic-language social networking platforms. The results of the research were as follows: (1) the students actively engage with social media for learning Arabic, their interaction is predominantly limited to grammar content created by Indonesian speakers, with minimal exposure to native Arabic media and cultural resources., and (2) the students occasionally engage with Arabic-language social media, mainly on Instagram and YouTube, but overall participation and consistency remain low. The limited and irregular exposure of students to Arabic-language media—particularly from native sources—suggests a missed opportunity in Arabic language pedagogy, where consistent engagement with authentic media could significantly enhance linguistic competence, cultural understanding, and communicative skills.

Abstract

This study explored the psycholinguistic effects of blackboards and colorful chalk on Arabic vocabulary acquisition at Maktab Mahmud Yan, Malaysia. Using a mixed-methods approach involving 60 students through surveys, interviews, and classroom observations, the study found that this low-tech, visually engaging method significantly improved vocabulary retention, enhanced motivation, and fostered collaborative learning. Remarkably, the initiative continued even after the departure of Indonesian instructors, supported by remote guidance and periodic visits. This research provides a novel contribution by demonstrating that traditional tools, when used creatively and cooperatively, can achieve outcomes comparable to digital solutions. It highlights the potential of multisensory, student-centered strategies in cross-cultural and under-resourced educational environments.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the cooperative learning model developed by teacher at the Miftahul Midad Islamic Boarding School  Indonesia, which combines classical learning to enhance students' ability to read classical texts and foster their independence through self-regulation. The research employed a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The researchers followed several stages of data analysis, including data reduction, data presentation, formulating preliminary conclusions, and verification activities. The findings revealed four stages of classical cooperative learning that promote reading classical texts: material explanation, group study, assessment, and team recognition. These stages were followed by awards or prizes to motivate the teams to continue striving for even greater achievements.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method in improving students’ Arabic reading comprehension. The research focused specifically on three reading competencies: identifying main ideas, understanding contextual vocabulary, and interpreting the overall meaning of Arabic texts. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a control and experimental group. Data were collected through pretest and posttests consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions, which were validated and tested for reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.897). Additional documentation and classroom observation were used to ensure the procedural integrity of the method’s implementation. Results showed that students taught using the CIRC method achieved a significantly higher gain in reading scores, with an N-Gain of 41.7% (moderately effective), compared to 16% in the control group (ineffective). The simple linear regression test confirmed a statistically significant effect (sig = 0.000) with 41% of the reading improvement attributed to the CIRC method. These findings suggest that CIRC enhances students' reading skills by encouraging active participation, group discussion, and collaborative summarization. Although not all students benefited equally, the structured and interactive nature of CIRC helped overcome reading difficulties often associated with learning Arabic as a foreign language
