Abstract

This study investigates the application of Augmented Reality (AR) to improve environmental vocabulary acquisition in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education 5.0. The objectives are to evaluate the effectiveness of AR in enhancing vocabulary acquisition and to explore students’ perceptions of AR-based learning. The study involved 72 eighth-grade students from SMP Negeri 4 Labuhan Badas, Sumbawa, Indonesia. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating quantitative analysis of vocabulary test scores and qualitative insights from open questionnaires. Students interacted with a 3D AR application that visualized environmental vocabulary categories, including beach terms, marine life, and fishing gear. Quantitative results revealed a statistically significant improvement in vocabulary scores (mean difference = 9.903, p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = 1.69), indicating the substantial impact of AR intervention. Qualitative findings highlighted increased motivation, comprehension, and retention due to AR’s immersive and interactive learning features, though technical barriers such as unstable internet were noted. The study implies that AR fosters experiential and contextualized learning, addressing gaps in traditional EFL vocabulary instruction. Beyond educational enhancements, AR supports SDG 4 by advancing quality education and SDG 14 by raising environmental awareness. These findings underscore AR’s ability to create engaging learning environments that bridge theoretical knowledge and practical application. Further research should explore AR's applicability across diverse subjects, regions, and student populations to maximize its interdisciplinary potential and address technical challenges for effective integration in global educational systems.

Abstract

The high rate of early marriage in recent years is a phenomenon that must be taken seriously by various parties. This problem will continue due to young parents' low readiness level to fulfil their role. Many young parents today lack an understanding of their role in being responsible for the growth and development of their children after marriage. This study uses a literature review, searching through various relevant offline and online references. The results of this study indicate that non-formal education programs, such as parenting programs, can provide a platform for young parents to enhance their readiness to fulfil their roles in addressing issues related to early childhood growth and development stimulation. Parenting programs can provide the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to become effective parents, and they can play a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of children from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of learners' initial ability and interest on learning outcomes in project-based learning (PBL). With the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, it is a systematic research approach to identify, evaluate, and analyze literature or research relevant to a particular topic in an objective and structured manner. This study analyzed 35 journals that discussed the effect of initial ability and interest on student learning outcomes in project-based learning. The results show that higher initial ability makes it easier for students to absorb the material and develop practical skills such as problem solving. On the other hand, high interest encourages students' active engagement and motivation in the project, which contributes to improved learning outcomes. This study also identified that a mismatch between students' initial abilities and the PjBL approach can reduce the effectiveness of learning. These findings provide important insights for educators to design more effective learning that adapts to students' needs, and support more comprehensive curriculum planning. Project-based learning is expected to enhance 21st century skills such as creativity, collaboration and problem solving, which are relevant to prepare students for real-world challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the social simulation learning model on the social attitudes, morality, and courtesy of students in higher education. The research involved 52 students selected randomly from second-semester students at two universities during the odd semester of 2022/2023. Data on learning independence were collected using a questionnaire. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design. Prerequisite tests were conducted using normality and homogeneity tests. Normality was tested using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, while homogeneity was tested with homogeneity variance. If the prerequisites were met, a homogeneity test was performed. The research findings indicate that the prerequisite tests were fulfilled, confirming that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The homogeneity test results concluded that there is a significant effect of the social simulation model on social attitudes, morality, and courtesy. The social simulation model positively influences these aspects, with significant differences observed between the two groups after the treatment was administered. The normality and homogeneity tests ensured that the data met the criteria for valid statistical analysis. These findings highlight the importance of using experience-based learning methods to develop students' interpersonal skills, which will positively impact their academic life.
