Abstract

Introduction: Finger-grip relaxation was essential to manage emotions and develop emotional intelligence. Finger-grip relaxation helps the body, mind, and spirit to achieve relaxation. Objective: The study aimed to examine the effect of Finger-grip relaxation on decreasing anxiety of pre-section Caesarea patients at RSIA Masyita Makassar. Method: This study used the quasi-experimental study, one group, pre-test - post-test without control design. Ten samples were carried out using the observation sheet. Ten respondents met the inclusion criteria. This study used a pre-experimental one-group pre-test - post-test without control with the intervention sampling technique. Results: The results found that there was a difference in anxiety levels before and after undergoing Finger-grip relaxation with p-value = 0.00 < ? = 0.05. Before undergoing Finger-grip relaxation (pre-test), there were 6 mothers with moderate anxiety, 2 mothers with mild anxiety, and 2 mothers with severe anxiety. After undergoing Finger-grip relaxation (post-test), eight mothers with mild anxiety and 2 mothers with moderate anxiety. Thus, it can be concluded that there was an influence of Finger-grip relaxation in decreasing the anxiety of pre-Sectio Caesarea patients. Recommendation: This study can be used as a source of information, especially in the field of medical-surgical nursing

Abstract

The low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is directly influenced by the weak intention of mothers in providing exclusive breastfeed since pregnancy. Mothers who have had the intention of breastfeeding since pregnancy are 3 times faster in the practice to breastfeed their babies after birth, compared to mothers who just decided to breastfeed their babies after giving birth. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the intention of exclusive breastfeeding of pregnant women. The sample of this research was pregnant women who came to Kebon Jeruk Community Health Center (Puskesmas) The intention of exclusive breastfeeding was measured using the Infant Feeding Intentions (IFI) scale questionnaire. Bivariate analysis was used to see the correlation between knowledge and attitude towards exclusive breastfeeding and breastfeeding intention. Most of the respondents had a relatively high intention of exclusive breastfeeding (62%). More than half of the respondents had good knowledge on Early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF) and exclusive breastfeeding (60%). Their attitudes toward EIBF and exclusive breastfeeding were also positive (54%). The factors that influenced the intention of exclusive breastfeeding for pregnant women at the Kebon Jeruk Community Health Center include gravida, education, knowledge and attitudes toward EIBF and exclusive breastfeeding. Measurement of the intention of exclusive breastfeeding should be carried out since the first trimester of pregnancy as an early detection of the success of exclusive breastfeeding so that promotive and preventive efforts can be carried out from an early age.

Abstract

Introduction: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is one of the major contributors to mortality in the world. It is important to encourage knowledge of cardiac arrest management for everyone. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effect of Mabar applications on improving knowledge of cardiac arrest management among students. Method: The True Experimental study, pre-test, and post-test with non-equivalent control group design was applied in this study. Results: The result found that there is a significant improving knowledge between before and after training CPR from the simulation method (p <0.05), MABAR application (p <0.05), However, the comparison both of methods showed a significant difference in knowledge after receiving training p = 0.01 (p <0.05). All of the methods have an influence on increasing knowledge before and after training CPR. However, the Mabar application was effective to improve more clinical skills, saving time and energy. It has compatible with using independently without depending on the trainer. Using Mabar applications can increase attention and impulse for the trainer. Recommendation: The Mabar application as a CPR training method is highly recommended, especially for teenagers and students. For further research need to examine this application for a wide population

Abstract

Introduction: Until now, empirical research, where the main focus is moral courage is very rare. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of gender role identity and sex difference on the moral courage of nurses related to ethical issues of daily nursing practices. Method: We applied the survey analytic research design in this. This research was conducted in 5 hospitals in Makassar City by applying multistage random sampling. The number of samples are 405 nurses. Result: The results found that from the perspective of sex difference and gender role identity, there is a significant difference in the context of nurses' moral courage such as mean value of male moral courage is higher than female (p= 0.013) (p<0.05). Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen the moral courage of nurses so that they are able to face various ethical issues of daily nursing practices. Recommendation: Further studies should assess a larger representative sample with self- report instruments to determine the actual impact of gender differences and their significance on nurses' moral courage when facing ethical issues in daily nursing practice.
