Abstract

Fish cultivators generally experience difficulties providing quality artificial feed (pellets) due to a lack of knowledge and skills in processing technology and making alternative feeds. Besides that, the costs incurred for feed procurement are relatively large, reaching 70 - 80% of the total production costs. However, the provision of feed is often an obstacle because, in addition to the increasingly high price, the quality of available feed does not always match the nutritional needs needed by Fish. The provision of quality feed for intensively cultivated tilapia dramatically affects the resulting growth and productivity. The higher the quality of the feed, the production will also increase. One of the technologies that can be applied to overcome this problem is the manufacture of alternative formulated diets using local raw materials. The method used in this service activity is the transfer of knowledge presented in the socialization activities in the form of 1) introduction to the types of alternative fish feed ingredients sourced from the area, (2) preparation of artificial tilapia feed formulations, (3) manufacturing technology artificial feed (pellets) and 4) monitoring and assistance. The socialization was carried out in the form of a lecture and was followed by a question and answer session. The results of farmer activities recognize the types of local feed that can be used as fish feed, know the preparation of feed formulations, and alternative artificial feed manufacturing technologies. The knowledge and skills possessed by fish cultivators are expected to overcome the difficulties of fish farmers in providing feed so that fish production and cultivation business increase.

Abstract

This activity is motivated by concern for the facts of climate change occurring globally and regionally. The agreement of many countries to address this change problem has been initiated since 1990, until the most recent high-level meeting "climate adaptation summit" in 2020. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warned that there are only 12 years left or until 2030 to prevent extreme climate disasters that occur due to global warming with a maximum temperature increase of 1.5°C. In response to this, the Indonesian government has also taken a number of concrete steps in all aspects of climate change adaptation and mitigation, both at the local, regional and national levels. One of the national programs that directly touch local communities is the climate village program or known as "PROKLIM". The city of Bukittinggi has actively responded to this national program, so that two of the three climate villages developed by the Environmental Service of the city of Bukittinggi have received national awards for the achievements of their community group activities. This activity is one of the activities that is of interest to community groups in one of the climate villages in Bukittinggi City, because it sees the potential to overcome the problem of relatively high organic waste generation both in the village itself and in the nearest market location, with the use of larvae (maggot) from Black Soldier Fly which can be done in groups. It is hoped that organic waste management with the use of larvae (maggot) will not only overcome the problem of organic waste, but also at the same time increase people's income, both from selling the maggot products to fish/poultry farmers, as well as being able to be used by group members for their own business. fisheries and livestock.

Abstract

Pollination is an essential part of increasing crop production. One insect that acts as a pollinator on plants is the Galo-galo bee. Stingless bee cultivation can help in the pollination process and serve as a producer of pure honey, which also has the potential to increase farmers' income. This activity aims to enable partner groups at the Andalas University campus to cultivate stingless bees on agricultural land. The methods used in this service are counseling, mentoring, training, and piloting. Extension materials were carried out to increase farmers' knowledge about the potential of stingless bees, the introduction of natural colony trapping methods, and bee food sources. The service team has brought several Galo-galo bee colonies that farmer groups in Sungkai will maintain. By bringing the colony bees, farmers are given other material, namely how to transfer the colony to the cultivation box, install the honey box, and harvest. The results of this activity are as follows: 1) Increased knowledge, interest, and skills of partners in raising Galo-galo, which is integrated with agriculture. 2) Partner has a new business unit in the form of Galo-galo cattle. 3) Partners have a new commodity produced, namely Galo-galo honey. 4) Partners know and can cultivate bee food plants. This activity ran smoothly, and the target of the movement was achieved well. Farmers participating in the service have cultivated stingless bees on managed agricultural land.

Abstract

Oil palm cultivated in the replanting area did not grow optimally because most were attacked by horn beetles (Oryctes rhinoceros L.). The percentage of horn beetle attacks was high, namely 80% in 3 year old plants and 100% at 1-1.5 years old. It is known that residual replanting waste is the cause of the high horn beetle population because rotting oil palm trunks become a suitable habitat for horn beetle development. To overcome the problems faced by partners, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is applied. IPM components that will be applied are technical culture, mechanics, and semiochemical control with pheromones. This activity aims to reduce the level of damage to the horn beetle pest on oil palm plants after replanting. This activity is carried out using counseling methods, training, demonstration plots (pilots), providing assistance with tools and machines, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results of the activity showed that the partners were able to independently implement integrated pest management (IPM) on their respective lands. Assembled IPM technology that has been applied can reduce the attack rate of horn beetles from 86.68% to 79.60%. Until now, IPM equipment is still installed and operated by partner farmer groups. The application of IPM at the demonstration plot locations can significantly reduce the horn beetle population, as well as no more visible symptoms of new plants being attacked. The sustainable application of IPM, covering large-scale land, involving all oil palm business actors will increase the chances of success of the method in the future. will come.

This activity is motivated by concern for the facts of climate change occurring globally and regionally. In response to this, the Indonesian government has also taken a number of concrete steps in all aspects of climate change adaptation and mitigation, both at the local, regional, and national levels. One national program that directly touches local communities is the climate village program known as "PROKLIM." The city of Bukittinggi has responded actively to this national program and has received national awards for the achievements of its activities in two community groups. The purpose of community service activities in the Climate Village Program is to increase the group's capacity in processing household organic waste through the application of Maggot cultivation from black soldier fly (BSF). The main methods of implementing the activities are training, providing assistance and companiment the target group. The activity results showed that the target group had the knowledge and skills to cultivate BSF and produce larvae/maggots. The target group had been able to produce fish/livestock feed from the larvae and developed plans to use the business results for the commercial market. One thing that becomes the next challenge is how to build continuity of feed availability for the maggot caterpillars, especially from household organic food leftovers in the group members' environment. In conclusion, the application of organic waste processing technology with maggot caterpillar cultivation is very potential to overcome the problem of waste in their neighborhood so that it can then be applied more widely in the city of Bukittinggi, to be able to overcome the problem of urban organic waste.

Abstract

Orange is one of the horticultural commodities that deserve to be developed because it can be used as a good source of income for farmers. Efforts to increase the production of citrus plants cannot be separated from the problem of pest, which results in decreased production. Fruit flies are the most important pests that interfere with the production of citrus cultivation in Sungkai. Extension activities and monitoring of integrated pest management of fruit flies in citrus plantations in the Sungkai area of Padang City. The method applied in the extension of integrated pest management (IPM) for fruit flies is through training and Focus Group Discussions and making pilot demonstration plots. Participants in fruit flies' integrated pest management counseling activity are members of the P4S Sungkai Permai, Sungkai Permai Farmers Group, Bukik Bulek, and Pulau Indah, and all communities in the Sungkai area. The IPM technique used to reduce fruit fly pests in Sungkai is land clearing (sanitation). Prevention of fruit fly pests with sanitation has the advantage of low operating costs and low impact or hazard to worker health and the environment. Cleaning the remains of these plants means that we break the life cycle of pests, thereby reducing the pest population. Through this counseling, farmers know and understand how to implement land sanitation to control fruit fly pests. In addition, citrus farmers in Sungkai also have field demonstration plots of land sanitation techniques for citrus plantations to reduce fruit fly pests.

Abstract

This activity aims to increase buffalo milk production by improving feed management through the application of science and technology will lead to an increase in the income of Murrah buffalo breeders. This program is conducted to the Kelok Rambai livestock Group, Kapau, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. This farmer group received assistance from the provincial government of West Sumatra, 15 Murrah buffaloes as milk producers, where the milk produced is fermented into curd. The pattern of maintenance is semi-intensive and the feed provided is inadequate both in quantity and quality and the lack of knowledge of farmers so that the productivity of buffaloes is still low. The method of activities carried out in this service is participatory community empowerment including counseling, training, guidance, discussion and evaluation/monitoring. The training/pilot of feed technology introduced is multi-nutrient feed supplement, namely Urea Saka Blok, and ammoniated rice straw as a quality fiber feed ingredient. In addition, the cultivation of legume feed is indigofera plants which can be used as green concentrate because high protein content. The results of using ammoniated rice straw supplemented with Urea Saka Blok in buffaloes increased feed consumption significantly from an average of 2.5% to 2.75% of body weight or an increase of 0.25%. This increase in feed consumption has implications for milk production which was initially 2 liters per day, increased to 3 liters per day or an increase of about 50%, and what is quite interesting is that until the 10th month of lactation milk production is still 3 liters per day. It is hoped that the community service activities at the Kelok Rambai Cattle Farmer Group can increase the income of group members, apply good maintenance management, increase motivation, apply sustainable introduced feed technology and make Nagari Kapau as one of the centers for Murrah buffalo farming producing milk/curd. in West Sumatra.
