Abstract

Tanaman tomat merupakan sayuran buah yang banyak dibudidayakan oleh kelompok tani di Desa Lamomea dan menjadi salah satu sumber ekonomi penting bagi keluarga petani. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra adalah serangan penyakit hawar daun tomat yang dapat menyebabkan gagal panen. Tujuan kegiatan adalah mendampingi petani tomat untuk mengendalikan penyakit hawar daun tomat. Metode yang digunakan adalah bimbingan teknis dan pembuatan demo plot (demplot) pengendalian penyakit hawar daun tomat. Teknis pengendalian yang diterapkan adalah penyemaian benih pada media media rockwall, pemberian mulsa plastik hitam perak, mulsa jerami dan agens hayati Trichoderma sp. Demplot berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra bahwa rockwall yang digunakan menunjukkan pertumbuhan benih tomat lebih seragam dan mengurangi penyakit hawar daun tomat. Mulsa plastik hitam perak terbuktgi efektif mengurangi gulma dan mengurangi kejadian penyakit hawar daun, sedangkan mulsa jerami mengurangi frekuensi penyulaman dibandingkan dengan penggunaan mulsa hitam perak. Aplikasi agens hayati dan jerami juga dapat mengurangi tanaman yang terinfeksi penyakit hawar daun ketika diikuti dengan perempelan tunas-tunas air atau ranting non produktif.

Abstract

Buah tomat memiliki kandungan vitamin C, ß-carotene, lycopene yang penting bagi kesehatan. Selain itu nilai ekonomi tomat juga cukup tinggi sehingga menarik banyak petani untuk membudidayakannya. Saat ini petani tomat menghadapi kendala yaitu serangan penyakit bercak daun yang dapat disebabkan oleh beberapa patogen seperti Alternaria sp., Colletotrichum sp., Sclerotium sp., dan Pestaliopsis sp.Kompleks patogen tersebut menyulitkan petani tomat untuk mengendalikannya. Alternatif yang ditawarkan adalah penggunaan pestisida nabati berbahan minyak cengkeh dan ekstrak kulit jambu mete-phymar. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengevaluasi kemampuan fungisida nabati untuk mengendalikan patogen penyebab bercak daun tomat. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tujuh perlakuan yaitu kontrol (N0), pestisida sintetik 2 mL (N1) phymar 10 mL (N2), phymar 20 mL (N3), phymar 30 mL (N4), minyak cengkeh 2,5 mL (N5), minyak cengkeh 5 mL (N6) dan minyak cengkeh 7 mL (N7), setiap perlakuan diulang empat kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan fungisida nabati phymar dan minyak cengkeh mampu menghambat pertumbuhan cendawan patogen Colletotrichum sp dan Sclerotium sp. Fungisida nabati minyak cengkeh dengan konsentrasi 2,5 ml/L media agar sudah efektif menghambat perkembangan Colletotrichum sp dan Sclerotium sp. secara in-vitro dengan daya hambat masing-masing sebesar 100%.Kata kunci : bercak daun, Colletotrichum., fungisida, Sclerotiu

Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the inhibition of Trichoderma sp. associated with the leaves of the tomato plant (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.). The research was carried out at the Plant Protection Laboratory of the Phytopathology Unit, Faculty of Agriculture, Halu Oleo University, Kendari. The study was arranged using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three types of pathogens, namely Collethotrichum sp., Schlerotium sp., and Paesilomyces sp., repeated five times. Observation parameters were the percentage of inhibition through multiple culture tests, secondary metabolites of volatile compounds, and nonvolatile compounds. The results showed that the ability to inhibit the fungus Trichoderma sp. against the fungal pathogen Colletotrichum sp. able be inhibited by 74.14% and 81.42% respectively in the volatile and nonvolatile secondary metabolite tests, while against the pathogen Sclerotium sp. able to be inhibited by 58.50% in the multiple culture test.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian Masyarakat (PPM) Covid-19 dilaksanakan dengan sasaran masyarakat dan aparat pemerintahan di lokasi kegiatan, yang utamanya dilakukan secara daring (online). Coronavirus adalah virus yang dapat menyebabkan penyakit pada hewan atau manusia, dimana virus ini dapat menyebabkan infeksi saluran pernafasan mulai dari batuk, sesak nafas, pilek hingga yang lebih serius seperti Middle East Respiratory Syndriome (MERS) dan Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Tujuan program ini adalah sosialisasi cara menghadapi/menghindari/mengurangi penyebaran Covid-19, menggunakan teknologi multimedia sebagai sarana penyuluhan, bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat tentang pencegahan penyebaran Covid-19. Kegiatan PPM ini dilaksanakan melalui metode/pendekatan antara lain identifikasi dampak penyebaran Covid-19 bagi masyarakat khususnya yang bermata pencaharian sebagai petani, memberikan pemahaman tentang cara pencegahan penyebaran Covid-19, dan memberikan pemahaman tentang teknis beraktivitas dan kegiatan penerapan PHBS di setiap aktivitas masyarakat.  Program PPM Covid-19 ini difokuskan pada sosialisasi/penyuluhan yang sifatnya online, berhubung kondisi pandemi yang tidak memungkinkan pengerahan/pengumpulan massa dalam jumlah besar. Berbagai produk penyuluhan pencegahan penularan covid-19 telah dihasilkan atau dilaksanakan, antara lain berupa brosur, leaflet, spanduk, maupun produk kesehatan untuk membantu meningkatkan imun tubuh, seperti produk makanan/minuman segar, permen, dan camilan lainnya.  Produk-produk lain seperti handsanitizer, bahkan media hidroponik sistem apung juga dihasilkan mahasiswa, yang disosialisasikan untuk menjaga kesehatan maupun untuk meningkatkan aktivitas positif/produktif masyarakat di tengah pandemi covid.  Produk-produk diatas, disosialisasikan melalui berbagai media online seperti WhatsApp, Youtube, Facebook, maupun diserahkan langsung melalui aparat pemerintahan setempat.  Diharapkan kegiatan ini dapat memberi manfaat dan membantu masyarakat menghindari atau mengurangi penyebaran covid-19, meningkatkan imunitas dan menciptakan sumber penghasilan selama pandemi ini.

Abstract

Southeast Sulawesi is known to have a wide varieties of local cultivars of upland rice. Unfortunately, resistance of those local cultivars of upland rice to Curvularia oryzae, one of the most important pathogen in upland rice cultivation, has not been reported. Resistance evaluation conducted in the field showed that local cultivars (Pae Kori, Pae Endokadia, and Pae Enggalaru) have high level of resistance, developing lines B10580E and B11580E have moderate resistance, whereas B11577E and TB368B lines were susceptible to C. oryzae infection.Key words: Curvularia oryzae, disease resistance, upland rice

Abstract

Rhizoctonia root rot disease caused by Rhizoctonia solani is one of the most important disease in soybean area, including at ultisol land in Southeast Sulawesi. Rhizobacteria application is one alternative method to control this pathogen. The aim of this experiment was to study of rhizobacteria indigenous formulation to control of Rhizoctonia root rot disease and increase soybean yield in Ultisol soil. A complete randomized design with seven treatments was used in this experiment. The treatments were (A) rhizobacteria formulation for seed treatment, (B) rhizobacteria formulation for seed treatment and repeated at 2 weeks after planting, (C) rhizobacteria formulation for seed treatment, repeated at 2 and 4 weeks after planting, (D) rhizobacteria formulation for seed treatment and fungicide applied at 2 weeks after planting, (E) fungicide seed treatment, and repeated at 2 weeks after planting, (F) fungicide seed treatment, and repeated at 2 and 4 weeks after planting, and control (without rhizobacteria and fungicides). All treatments were inoculated by R. solani and replicated three times. The results showed that rhizobacteria seed treatment and repeated at 2 and 4 weeks after planting was the most effective treatment to control Rhizoctonia root rot disease, and increase plant height and leaf number up to 119% and 170%, respectively, and increased the yield of soybean up to 1870% in ultisol soil compared to plant with control treatment.

Abstract

The fungus Ceratobasidium theobromae is the cause of vascular streak dieback (VSD) in cocoa. VSD disease can cause death in susceptible clones by more than 59%. The use of resistant cocoa clones and endophytic fungi can be an alternative for VSD disease control. The research objective was to evaluate cocoa clones and endophytic fungi to control VSD in the field. The experimental design used was a randomized block design with a factorial pattern. The first factor was cocoa clones, which consisted of clones 45 (K1) and 25 (K2), and the second factor was several types of endophytic fungi. The results showed an interaction between cacao clones and endophytic fungi isolates on the height and number of cocoa leaves. The two cacao clones tested could be naturally infected by C. theobromae without endophytic fungi, with disease incidence of VSD 5, 21% in K1, and 5.75% in K2. The two cocoa clones treated with endophytic fungi, i.e., Paecilomyces sp. EP1, Paecilomyces sp. EP2 and Paecilomyces sp. EP1 + Trichoderma sp.)  did not show symptoms of VSD until 20 weeks after planting.

Abstract

The potential of fungi from bamboo rhizosphic soils as endophytic and biocontrol agents of clubroot disease (Plasmodiophora brassicae) on Brocoli. Clubroot, caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae is a serious soilborne disease of plants worldwide, capable of severe infection on broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. Clubroot is the most destructive diseases on cruciferae in Indonesia. The existing control measures, including biological control do not provide satisfactory result. The objective of the study was to explore fungi from bamboo rhizospheric soils as endophytic that can suppress clubroot disease in broccoli. There were two steps in this study: (1) exploration and identification of fungi from bamboo rhizospheric soils. (2) Effectiveness test of the fungi in suppressing clubroot disease. There were four species of fungi as endophytes in brocoli in this study, e.g Aspergillus sp., Mortierella sp., Paecilomyces sp., and Chaetomium globosum. They had colonized broccoli root endophytically and suppressing clubroot disease. Paecilomyces sp. of endophytic fungi can suppress clubroot diseases incidence for 18.75%.

Abstract

Cashew plant is the one of export commodity that has high economic value compared to the other commodities. Sanurus indecora is one of major pest in cashew, causing decreased quality and quantity of products. The aims of this experiments were to the develop integrated pest management of S. indecora, by: (a) utilization and enviroment manipulation of cashew plantation using intercropping plants to control S. indicora, (b) utilization of natural enemies, specially Synnematium sp., to control S. indecora. The experiment consisted of : (1) the effect of intercropping plant extracts as botanical pesticide on S. indecora mortality at laboratory, (2) the effect of medium substances on Synnematium sp. growth, as well as the effect of concentration of Synnematium sp. suspension on S. indecora mortality at laboratory. Botanical pesticides that were used in this experiment was made from extraction of intercropping plants: extraction of sesame seed, of cassava leaves and pineapple fruit. All experiments were arranged in complete randomized design. The results showed that 0.5 mg/10 mL water of sesame seed extract, 0.1 mg/10 mL water of cassava leaves extract and 2.0 mg/10 mL pineapple fruit extract concentrations resulted average 76.67%, 66.67%, and 63.33% S. indecora mortalities at 24 hours after application, respectively. The second experiment showed that the growth medium containing rice straw resulted the best growth of Synnematium sp. colonies than the other treatments and 0.1 g/mL water of Synnematium sp. mycelium resulted the high mortality (57,5%) at 5 days after application.

Abstract

During the current Covid-19 pandemic, the need for healthy food, including vegetables, is significant to increase the body's immunity to free from infection with the disease. The availability of healthy vegetables can be obtained through using the yard by growing vegetables organically. This activity aims to increase community participation in developing organic agriculture and supporting sustainable agriculture during the Covid-19 pandemic. The target of this program is the community of Kambu Village and the city government of Kambu Village, Kambu District, Kendari City. The activities carried out involve participating in various parties (city governments, communities, students, and academics) through counseling, training, demonstrations, and making demonstration plots for organic vegetable cultivation. This guidance hopes that sustainable organic farming will be realized through this guidance. The results of this activity indicate that community participation, especially among members of the women's farmer group Wijaya Kusuma, Kambu Village, has increased in the use of limited land to cultivate healthy vegetables. Public awareness and knowledge about the importance of applying organic fertilizers and vegetable pesticides (eco-enzymes) are increased through these activities. Increased organic fertilizers and eco-enzymes for household-scale vegetable cultivation by the Wijaya Kusuma Farmer Women's Group, Kambu Village, Kambu Village, Kambu District, Kendari City. Availability of healthy food ingredients in the form of sustainable organic vegetables. The collaboration between the city government and academia is increasingly closely intertwined through the activities carried out.
