Abstract

Nobita Hill is one of the areas being developed as a tourist attraction in the city of Padang. Above Nobita Hill is a beautiful view, and you can see the picture of Padang City. However, the hilly topography with steep slopes makes this area prone to landslides. This activity aims to map the potential for landslides on Novita Hill. Activities start from preparation, implementation in the field, and evaluation. Field activities are carried out in two stages. The first stage is an experiment to map the landslide potential. The second stage is socialization. The target audience for this activity is the Village Head of Jua Nan XX Village and its officials and the community around Nobita Hill. The results of the study and mapping were disseminated to the village administration and community leaders involved in the development of the Bukit Nobita tourism area, which was carried out on November 16, 2022. The result of tourist objects often changes land use and cover. However, mitigation of the potential for landslides in this area has never been done. Therefore, the Andalas University Physics Department team mapped the potential for landslides on Novita Hill for six months, using microseismic and geoelectric methods. This activity obtained a map of the distribution of dominant frequencies, a map of the distribution of amplification, and an identification of slip planes concerning the potential for landslides on Nobita Hill. Furthermore, the results of the mapping and mitigation efforts have been disseminated to the village administration and community leaders involved in the development of the Bukit Nobita tourism area. This activity was carried out well. The landslide potential distribution map obtained from this activity is input for the community and stakeholders in developing the Buki Nobita tourist attraction that is safe from disasters.

Abstract

One of the efforts to break the chain of transmission of Covid-19 is to maintain cleanliness using an antiseptic to wash hands and body parts, as well as disinfectants that are sprayed or rubbed on various inanimate objects that may be exposed to the virus. However, there are still many people who are mistaken about using antiseptics and disinfectants, such as using antiseptics to clean items and the phenomenon of massive spraying of disinfectants in various places, even directly on humans. Apart from that, the lack of skills in making simple disinfectant fluids independently is also one of the triggering factors for the low level of concern in protecting the surrounding environment. The purpose of this activity is to educate the public about the correct use of antiseptics and disinfectants and to be able to utilize carbolic acid and liquid bleach to become simple disinfectants. This activity was carried out in Balai Baru Village, Kuranji District, Padang City. The method used in this activity is the presentation of the principles of the proper use of disinfectants and antiseptics as well as direct demonstrations of making simple disinfectants. The results of the activity are increased public understanding of the proper use of disinfectants and antiseptics as well as increased community skills in utilizing carbolic acid and clothing bleach into simple disinfectants. This activity is expected to be a reference in making simple disinfectants that are economical, environmentally friendly, and can be made by anyone. It is hoped that the chain of transmission of Covid-19 can be minimized.

Abstract

Padang Cakur Village, South Pariaman Subdistrict, Pariaman City, holds potential for the development of cattle farming. However, local cattle farmers are facing challenges in meeting the feed requirements due to shrinking green pasturelands. To address this issue, alternative feed sources from agricultural waste are needed. The problem lies in the fact that farmers lack the knowledge and skills to process agricultural waste into cattle feed. This technology transfer activity aims to: 1) Enhance the knowledge and skills of cattle farmers in utilizing agricultural waste, such as rice straw fermentation with the addition of sago (Silage), as cattle feed, and 2) Improve cattle farmers' understanding of the process of fermenting banana stems with the addition of rice bran. The methods employed in this technology transfer activity include extension through lectures and training sessions. Lecture-based methods are used to deliver information regarding both feed technologies, while training sessions are conducted to demonstrate the procedures for producing rice straw silage with sago and fermenting banana stems with rice bran. The outcomes of this technology transfer activity have increased the knowledge and skills of cattle farmers, particularly in feed production technologies like rice straw silage with sago (Silage) and fermented banana stem feed with rice bran. As evidence of success, participating cattle farmers have collectively produced 50 kilograms of Silage and 30 kilograms of fermented banana stem feed.
