Abstract

This study aims to reveal the effect of work discipline and motivation on civil servants performance working at Kerinci Regency Population and Civil Registration Office, because there is a problem the employee performance it is proven by preliminary data that researchers get there are still targets that have not been fully realized. This research used quantitative method. The population of this study was all civil servants serving in the Kerinci Regency Regional Secretariat. Respondents in this study were amounted to 96 samples. The data collection technique used in this study was proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data was collected through questionnaires that have been tested of their validity and reliability in advance, both the content and empirical test items in the field. The data analysis technique used in this research was multiple regressions. The results showed that there is a significant effect of work discipline and motivation on civil servants performance working at Kerinci Regency Population and Civil Registration Office. This means that higher-level work discipline and motivation will improve civil servants performance.

Abstract

Diversified school environment conditions and student needs in instructional processes alongside with the complexity in Indonesia geographical condition quite often cannot easily be concluded completely in one piece by the central beaurocracy in a comprehensive way. It stimulates the deliverance of school based quality management improvement. This type of alternative management empowers independency to school to initiate its self-governing capacity to manage its own activities in the framework of educational quality improvement, while consistently aligned to national policies. Some of the strategies applied at schools comprise self-evaluation to scrutinize the school strengths and weaknesses. On the basis of the evaluation, school alongside with parents and community settle on school vision and mission education quality improvement or to put together the expected education quality to further developing the school program planning which includes school financing by refering to the scale of priorities and national policies in corresponding to scholl condition and its human resources capacity. The consequences of the program implementation should imply highly committed engagement among diversified parties, i.e., parents/community, teachers, principals, pupils and other staffs on one hand, and government (MONE) on the other hand, as the equal partner to attain the objective of quality improvement.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe about the implementation of the principal task of supervisors at SMK Negeri Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai has been implemented optimally, the process of performing the main duties of supervisors in SMK in Mentawai Islands District in the field of academic and managerial areas in accordance with predetermined programs, and obstacles faced by supervisors SMK Negeri in district Islands Mentawai in the execution of tasks in the field. The results of this study are as follows: (1) the implementation of the main task of supervisors has not been implemented optimally, 2) the process of carrying out the main task of supervisor regency in the academic field and managerial field is not in accordance with the program that has been determined and (3) there are constraints faced by school supervisors in carrying out their main tasks such as transportation and communication constraints.

Abstract

This study aims at explaining the transfer of character education value in children literature in terms of Indonesian and translation version. This study was a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data in this study encompassed the value of character education which were explored from the narrator, characters’ utterance and characters’ act. There were two novels as the source of data, namely Laskar Pelangi as Indonesian literature and Nenek Hebat dari Saga as translation literature. The form of data inventory was used for collecting data. Three steps were employed to analyze data, which were: data reduction, data display and conclusion. The finding of study indicated that there was the transfer of character education value through children literature in terms of the behavior and attitude. These values closely related to (1) God, (2) self, (3) family, (4) society and nation, and (5) environment. In Laskar Pelangi’s novel, there were sub indicators especially in terms of Islam teaching, which are: discipline, creative, work-hard, honesty, tolerance and nationalism. In Nenek Hebat dari Saga’s novel, there were some sub indicators related to behavior such as Buddhism, wise, efficient, creative, and confident. This novel also described closely the habit, culture and nature of Japanese.

Abstract

English language teacher strives to raise standards of language teaching in the new global setting knowledge. Perhaps understandably, any efforts to improve language education quality cannot succeed without the continuous support and cooperation of a professional teacher. This fact is widely recognized in international attention mostly in term of promoting the continuing professional of teachers. The term of continuing refers to the need for ongoing development of teachers’ knowledge, professional skill, and their effectiveness in the classroom. This is a reaction to the professional development which is not satisfied yet in leading to an increase in teacher knowledge, skills, and commitment. This paper explores the concept of continuing professional development, the limitation of current approaches to professional development, and the reinvigoration strategy of professional development for English language teacher.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of the phenomenon related with the problem of moral quality of students who are associated with learning, the lack of ability of learners in creativity. This study aims to develop a learning model with BMB-3 transformative strategy in the learning process at Junior High School in Padang City. This research is a model development research using ADDIE pattern. The location of this research is conducted in three junior high schools, public and private schools in Padang city, namely SMP Negeri 1 (accredited A), SMP 32 (accredited B), and SMP Angkasa Padang (accredited C), each class VIII. The instrument used in the form of the questionnaire, and data analysis is done quantitatively and qualitatively. Based on the results of research that has been done found the application of transformative strategy-BMB3 effectively used to improve the learning process.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the influence of discovery learning model and mastering vocabulary in environmental sector to the writing text report observation result of the students of class VII SMP N 31 Padang. The type of this research is quantitative with 2x2 factorial experimental design, the study population amounted to 248 students.Sampling is done by purposive sampling. Data collection uses two instruments, namely objective tests and performance tests. Analyzing and discussing the data descriptively with the concept of experimental research. The result of this research can be concluded that, result of skill of writing text report observation result of student having vocabulary mastery of environmental field is highest and lower, who were taught using a higher discovery learning model than students taught using conventional learning models. Furthermore, there is no interaction between model (discovery learning and conventional) with creativity (high and low) in influencing the skill of writing the text of the observation report of the students of class VII SMP Negeri 31 Padang.

Abstract

Using Mathematics Student Worksheet (LKS) made by math teachers are not optimal, especially in helping students connect learning in life. Therefore, it is necessary to develop LKS that can provide opportunities for students to construct their knowledge, so that students can find their own learning concept. Trigonometry material is an important material in learning mathematics and relevance with other lessons. In this research, developed LKS with contextual learning approaches for trigonometric materials. The aim of this development is to produce mathematics LKS based on contextual approach which is valid, practical and effective. The subjects of the study were 29 students. Validation are done by the expert ie lecturer of mathematics education, education technology, and language. The practicality of LKS has been seen from the observation of the implementation of learning, practicality of questionnaires, interviews conducted with students and teachers. Effectiveness has been seen from the results of student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research was aimed to find and anlyze: (1) the effect of principal’s leadership and school climate on economics learning outcomes of students at state senior high schools (hereinafter SMA N) in Padang City and (2) the effect of principal’s leadership, school climate and teaching-learning process on economics learning outcomes of students at SMA N in Padang City. This study belongs to descriptive causal research design. Research population were 62 economics teachers and the sample are 32 economics teachers. Result of this research found that, (1) Principal’s leadership and school climate had a significant effect on economics learning outcomes of students at SMA N in Padang City. (2) Principal’s leadership, school climate and teaching-learning process significantly affect economics learning outcomes of students at SMA N in Padang City.

Abstract

The research aimed to get to identify: first the influence of training, teaching experience, principal leadership to the understanding of Social Science curriculum, second the influence of training, teaching experience, principal leadership, and the understanding of Social Science curriculum to teacher’s performance. This is a causal descriptive research. There are 57 teachers as research sample. This research findings were: first, there was a significant influence of training, teaching experience, principal leadership to the understanding of Social Science curriculum at state senior high schools in Pariaman City. The better of teacher training, good teaching experience, and good principal leadership, will be the better of teacher’s understanding of the curriculum. Second, there are was a significant influence of training, teaching experience, principal leadership, and understanding of curriculum toward teacher’s performance. The better of training, teaching experience, principal leadership, and understanding of the curriculum will be the better the teacher’s performance.
