Abstract

Classroom Action Research through the NHT-aided model of Quipper School media aims to enhance learning activities and critical thinking skills of learners. The subjects of this study are students often grade student. This study was conducted in 2 cycles. there is an increase in student activity during the learning process that is 38% I cycle, and on the II cycle 71%. Based on the cycles test carried out the critical thinking ability of learners also increased from 40% in the first cycle to 80% in cycle II. The result of the research shows the increase of learning activity and critical thinking ability of the students from cycle I to cycle II. From the research result, it can be concluded that the cooperative model of Numbered Heads Together type media quipper school is effective in increasing the activity and critical thinking ability of the students of ten grade student Lesson Year 2016/2017.

Abstract

The purpose of this description. First, the contribution of reading comprehension of writing exposition texs ability. Second, the contribution learning motivation to writing exposition texs ability. Thirth, the contribution of reading comprehension ability and learning motivation to writing exposition texs ability students of class X SMA Negeri 2 Pariaman. This research was a quantitative research using correlational method. The results of the research are. The reading comprehension ability contribute significant by 87% to writing exposition texs ability. The learnig motivation contribute significant by 25,9% to writing exposition texs ability. The reading comprehension ability and learnig motivation together contribute by 87,1% to the writing exposition texs ability. Can conclusion is reading comprehension ability and learnig motivation together contribute and significant relationship to writing exposition ability.

Abstract

This research was conducted to improve the students’writing skill at grade VIII-7 SMP Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan.. It was due to the lack of the students’ interest and less of communication or sharing ideas in writing activity, so they were not able to complete their writing tasks by organizing their ideas, use correct grammar, and choose vocabulary during learning and teaching process. This research was intended to improve the students’ writing skill by using cooperative learning (think, pair, share) technique at grade VIII-7 SMP Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan. It was hoped that by using this technique the students’ writing skill of grade VIII-7 SMP Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan could be improved. The participants of this research were the students of grade VIII-7 SMP Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan in 2012 – 2013 acdemic year. After finishing the first and second cycle of the research, there was some improvement in writing test scores.

Abstract

This article was written based on the results of classroom action research on students' learning motivation elementary school. This study aims to describe the improvement of learning motivation of the fourth grade students of the elementary school by applying the model of Problem Based Learning.The research model used Classroom Action Research methods that take place in two research cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, execution, observation, and reflection.The data analysis is a combination of qualitative and quantitative.The data analysis is a combination of qualitative and quantitative. Subjects in this study were 32 students.The results showed that the application of Problem Based Learning model proved to increase the motivation of learning grade four elementary school students.

Abstract

This research is done to describe the process, result and increasing factors of students’ ability in understanding the intrinsic elements from drama text by using cooperative learning method type STAD of grade VIII.3 of Tri Bhakti Junior high school students Pekanbaru. The conclusion are; first, in the increasing process, teacher explain the learning target, explain the learning material, read student with the highest score to become group’s chairman, teacher monitored the learning process, then students come back to their own chair and answer the questions given by the teacher. Second, the students’ ability in understanding the intrinsic elements from drama text increase, from 64 in pre-cycle become 72.68 in cycle I then there is an increasing score in cycle 2 with average score 88.82. Third, Factors cause the increasing students’ ability in understanding the intrinsic elements of drama text are; chairman is responsible to the group work in order to understand the material and answer the questions related to elements of drama text that is explained, and students can explained in front of the class with good and correct language.

Abstract

Teachers have responsibility to create and develop an effective learning material in order to facilitate the student to understand the reading content optimally. There are, it is important to develop an effective learning material by using SQ4R strategy as the solution The type of this research is R&D by using 4-D model. The sample were 42 students and 2 teachers in primary school. The result of the research indicated that the validity rate of the learning material is valid. Then upon the assessment on the implementation of lesson plan, the responses from teachers and learning participants and the observations on teaching materials indicated that the practicality rate fell to the category of highly practical. Moreover, the result of the activity of learning participants on reading comprehension indicated to be effective. Hence, it could be concluded that the developed reading comprehension learning material by using SQ4R strategy has already been valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

This research was based on a case where the result of observation by researcher in Public Elementary School, that showed the low level of teacher performance. Many factors affected the teacher performance which is pedagogical competence. The purpose of this research is to know about the relationship of pedagogical competence to teacher performance in Public Elementary School. The method of this research was quantitative research with 78 teachers. Instrument in this research used teacher competence test. The results of the analysis data showed that pedagogical competence contributes significantly to teacher performance in Public Elementary School of 21.9 % and 78.1% of remaining influenced by another factors. The recommendation in this research is the teachers may improve pedagogical competence and teacher performance.

Abstract

Ngukok tradition is smoking habit performed by young boys on Idul Fitri and Idul Adha in Kubang village. On that day, boys with a happy feeling buying and smoking a cigarette. Their parents also allow their children to smoke. While children should be avoided from smoking habits because the childhood is the period to grow and develop. This research was aimed to describe the values in ngukok tradition. This research used qualitative approach. Research was conducted in Kubang Village, Depati VII District , Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. Total informants were 31 people selected by using purposive sampling.The techniques of data collection were observation, interview, and documentation. The data were analysed by using Miles and Huberman analysis. The research findings revealed the values contained in Ngukok tradition.Social value , such as togetherness, solidarity, silaturrahmiand mutual sharing.Religious value, such as expressing gratitude to God and fasting. Cultural value which is related to cultural inheritance.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to figure out the contribution of reading interest on literature and reading comprehension toward students’ ability in writing fantasy story of VII grade of junior high schools in Padang. This research was quantitative research that applied correlational method. The sample were 106 students. The sampling technique was stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlational test, multiple regression, t test, and F test. The result shown that first, the reading interest on literature contributed 61,3%. Second, the reading comprehension on fantasy story contributed 55,5%. Third, both of the reading interest on literature and reading comprehension on fantasy story contributed 63,8%. Thus, reading interest on literature and reading comprehension on fantasy story gave contribution and significant relationship toward ability in writing fantasy story text.

Abstract

Problem solving ability is one of the mathematical abilities that are important in the success of students. But the fact remains low problem solving ability. One model that can develop problem solving ability is the Problem Based Learning (PBL). RPP is one important component in learning. RPP used by teachers not specifically describe the learning process, as well as yet to be seen developing students' problem solving abilities. This study aims to determine the validity of PBL based lesson plans. The study consisted of a preliminary analysis phase, development, and assessment using the model of Plomp. However, this study is only done up to the stage of development that the validity of the stage. The instrument used in this study of guidance interviews, checklists, questionnaires, evaluation sheets and sheets validas experts themselves. The results of the validation sheet analysis showed RPP developed are valid with an average of validity index of 0.96.
