Abstract

The aim of the research is to establish the factors that determine motivation of students in following tuition classes. The population of the studyinclude students of senior high school in subdistrict of North Padang. The sample of the study determined by using the area sampling method with 284 people as the respondent. The tool for analyzing data in this study is factor analysis. The result of the study shows there is a reduction from 20 to 19 variables in determine the motivation ofstudents who follow the tuition classes. Those 19 variables compose 4 main factors: (a) learning competition factors, (b) motivational learning support factors, (c) learning quality factors, (d) learning achievement factors. The trial of those variables has been tested by KMO and shows a number of 0,851 which mean it is include in satisfaction chategory.

Abstract

This research was concerned by students’ low motivation on social studies. This research aims to determine the difference of the students’ learning motivation taught using Quantum Teaching and conventional teaching model on social studies. This research applied quasi-experiment with nonequivalent control group design. The samples were taken with simple random sampling technique, with samples as many as 44 students. Analysis of data used t-test. The result showed that the students’ motivation with Quantum Teaching were higher than conventional teaching model on social studies, where by using statistical test, the tvalue was 5,624 and ttable was 2,089 or knowable tvalue> ttable. It can be concluded that Quantum Teaching model has positive effect to improve students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) To describe the development of character-based history learning to focus on exemplary on religious components, honest and homeland love for high school students in Kota Padangsidimpuan, (2) to design the development of character-based history learning on religious components, honest and homeland love for high school students covering Knowing the validity, effectiveness and practicality of the development of character-based history learning for high school students in accordance with the values of religious character, honest and love the homeland. Research design is Research and Development using ADDIE model. This research was conducted by SMA Negeri Padang Sidimpuan. The subject of product trial involves 30 students by implementing pretest-postest through the result of questionnaire of character-based history learning Data collecting technique in the form of questionnaire, interview, observation and test. Data analysis technique description. The results of research illustrate that the character-based history learning model such as religious character, honest, tolerance, democratic, spirit of nationality, love the homeland, love peace with teaching materials in the form of validated model books validation, practicality and effectiveness.

Abstract

Nowadays, the trend of student pornography increases every year. An increase in pornographic tendencies is thought to be due to lack of information. Information can be obtained by students through guidance and counseling services in schools. Providing information services will be more effective by using various approaches. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of Layanan Informasi using the CTL approach in reducing the tendency of student pornography. This research used Quasi Experiment design with non equivalent control group design. The research subjects were 21 students in control group and 21 treatment group. The research instrument was student pornography tendency inventory with reliability 0.892 , and data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov Two Independent Samples. Based on the findings, layanan informasi used CTL approach effective to the reduction of the student pornography tendencies. Counselors are recommended to apply the CTL approach on reducing it.

Abstract

Information and computer technology has developed along with the globalization, where a learning system must integrate with the use of computers and the Internet. The purpose of this research is on the LAN device installation and to know the validity and practicalities of the media. This is according to Van Den Akker's consisting of: requirements analysis, design, evaluation and revision. This research resulted from the media in the form of E-Learning with Classroom Online that is validated by a validate with criteria very well 94.28%. A Testing for practicalities is done with 20. The result of the testing for practicalities is stated that the e-learning Classroom Online is good categorized with an average score of 83% in terms of the interest of the students, the process of increasing its use, liveliness, time and student evaluation. E-learning in the Classroom Online as one of the alternative media learning materials on the installation of the device for the LAN in the vocational school.

Abstract

One of the problems experienced by young prisoners is the fear of exaggeration and anxiety unacceptable in the social environment after being released from prison, also called social anxiety. The purpose of this study was to look at the image of social anxiety of young prisoners. This research uses descriptive method with quantitative approach. The sampling method is the total sampling. The sample of this research is all of juvenile inmates at Institution of Special Grade of Children Class II Tanjung Pati amounted to 33 people. Data collection using young prisoner social anxiety scale with reliability of 0.86 with high category. The results showed that the prisoners' social anxiety image was in the high category with the percentage of 51.52%. This means the need for special guidance provided by prison counselors to reduce social anxiety experienced by Young Prisoners

Abstract

Youth offenders were juvenile delinquency that offend the law and according to the decision of law they must live in child prison. However, this community culture maybe has influences the development of moral character of youth offender along live in child prisoner. This study were correlational study that tries to reveal the correlation of community culture and character of youth offender by using structured questionnaire about characteristic of 20 youth offender living in jail and School Culture Scale (SCS) to measure youth offender’s perception about child prison’s community culture. Result of this study shows that there relationship between youth offender’s perception of community culture and youth offender character with Pearson correlation is 0,512 significant at 0,05. Character building will be much easier to do in an environment where there good relationship of each other, democratic, responsible, and friendly values are perceived as prevailing values.

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to find out and explain, the contribution of instructional leadership to the teachers’ performance, contribution followership style to the teachers’ performance, contribution of instructional leadership and followership style to teachers’ performance in elementary school in Batahan district. This research using quantitative method with correlational approaches. The population is all the civil servant teachers in elementary school in Batahan district 110 teachers. Sample are 59 teachers by stratified proportional random sampling technique. The instrument use likert scale and the reliability 0,944. Data analysis technique is processed by using correlation and regression with help of SPSS version 20 program. Based on the analysis results can be concluded as follows: instructional leadership contributes significantly to the teachers’ performance, followership style contributes significantly to the teachers’ performance, instructional leadership and followership style contribute significantly to teachers’ performance in elementary school in Batahan district Mandailing Natal regency, North Sumatera.

Abstract

This research motivated by the problems faced by teachers of art and culture subjects of Senior High School in the Province of West Sumatra namely the low results of Teacher Competency Test with an average score of 60 in particular the field art of music. The purpose of this model design is to develop a model of music art training that is valid, practical, and effective. Research method used is Research and Development with ADDIE procedures. The sample is determined by area probability sampling technique with the number of respondents 34 teachers of arts and culture subjects. The results concluded that the average of the ability of teachers 58.75. The developed model design consists of: (1) preparation stage (training contract, ability analysis, and group division); (2) learning stages (finding concepts/theories, discussions, group demonstrations, peer feedback, training with instructor's guidance, joint demonstrations); (3) evaluation stage through observation test.

Abstract

This research is conducted based on the fact that underachiever students are still found in the field students whose intelligence is high but their learning outcomes are below standard. Self regulated is assumed as a factor exerting an influence upon underachiever students’ learning achievement. The aim of this research is to see the correlation between self regulated and learning achievement of the underachievers. This research is classified into quantitative study which was conducted by applying correlational method. The subjects of the research were 87 students. The instruments used is self regulated instruments by applying scale of Likert model. The data obtained were analyzed by using simple regression. The results of the research indicate that there is a positive and significant correlation between self regulated and learning achievement of the underachievers.
