Abstract

Narcotics abuse in Indonesia is a serious problem that threatens the younger generation and social stability. North Sumatra is one of the provinces with the highest rate of narcotics abuse, with Belawan Bahagia Village as one of the vulnerable areas. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the North Sumatra Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) in efforts to eradicate narcotics in the region. The method used was qualitative descriptive with in-depth interview techniques with five key informants, including BNNP officers, police members, community leaders, and local residents. Data analysis was conducted using six policy evaluation indicators according to William N. Dunn: effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, leveling, responsiveness, and accuracy. The results of the study show that although BNNP has experienced institutional strengthening, challenges in resource distribution, limited program reach, and low community participation are still the main obstacles. On the other hand, there are positive efforts through the involvement of local communities and cooperation with law enforcement officials. This study recommends collaborative strategies and improved community-based approaches to increase policy effectiveness in drug-prone areas such as Belawan Bahagia.

Abstract

This research was carried out at Raksana Private Junior High School in Medan. The study was conducted to determine the interpersonal relationship with school well-being among Raksana Medan Private Junior High School students. The population and sample determined in this study are 119 students of SMP Raksana Medan. Samples were obtained using the Disproportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. Data was collected through questionnaire distribution efforts across samples. Furthermore, it is analyzed through the use of multiple regression analysis. The hypothesis test proves a correlation between School Well-Being and Interpersonal Relationships, as evidenced by the F test obtained F = 24.840 and p= 0.000(p<0.05). The Asusmsi test includes the normality test and the linearity test. Data analysis was done using multiple linear regression analysis techniques, assisted by SPSS Statistics 27 software for Windows. The resulting research showed a fundamental contribution of 18.3 percent of School Well-Being and interpersonal relationships; the remaining 81.7 percent came from other factors that were not studied. The results of this finding mean that higher school well-being can also increase students' interpersonal relationships. Conversely, low school well-being can also cause students' interpersonal relationships to be low.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the communication experiences of Gayo students at Universitas Medan Area (UMA) and the adaptation strategies they use to overcome intercultural communication barriers. Based on interviews with Gayo students currently studying at UMA, the research findings indicate that Gayo students experience culture shock due to differences in communication styles, language, and social values compared to local students. In response to these barriers, they developed various adaptation strategies, such as using formal Indonesian, avoiding conflicts, and seeking peers from Gayo for support. The findings also show that despite initial difficulties in interacting, Gayo students gradually adapt and create new meanings in their communication process, grounded in their personal experiences and cultural perspective shifts.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the influence of work environment and work motivation on employee performance in the Sewing Department of PT. Sumbiri. The study focuses on how these two factors can improve employee productivity and effectiveness in completing tasks. The approach used refers to human resource management theory and work motivation theory. Data were collected through a survey using a closed questionnaire compiled based on a Likert scale and distributed to 240 respondents who were active employees in the Sewing Department. The analysis was carried out using a quantitative method, using multiple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that a conducive work environment reviewed from physical, social, and comfort factors, has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Meanwhile, high work motivation, in both financial (salary, bonuses) and non-financial (recognition, career development opportunities) forms, also contributes significantly to increased productivity. These findings show that the synergy between a good work environment and optimal work motivation has a stronger effect on improving employee performance than the effect of each variable separately. This study has limitations in its scope, as it only covers one department within one company. Therefore, the generalization of the results must be done carefully. In the future, further research is recommended to cover other work units or different companies to expand the scope of the analysis.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the role of the Sidikalang Education Office, Dairi Regency in improving teacher competence through training programs. Teacher competence that includes pedagogical, professional, social, and personality aspects is a key factor in the success of the learning process. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants consisted of Education Office officials, teacher participants in training, and school principals. The results of the study indicate that the Education Office plays a role in planning, implementing, and evaluating ongoing training. The training held has a positive impact on improving teacher pedagogical skills, learning quality, and professionalism. However, a number of obstacles were found such as limited access for teachers in remote areas, lack of motivation for some teachers, and training materials that are less relevant to field needs. Optimization efforts are made through the use of technology, collaboration with educational institutions, and practice-based approaches. This study recommends the need for a more flexible and contextual training system in order to be able to reach all teachers fairly and have a direct impact on the quality of education.
