Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Freedom of Learning policy at SMA Negeri 1 Kualuh Hulu, Labuhan Batu Utara Regency, using the George Edward III policy implementation theory approach, which includes communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that communication between principals, teachers, and students has been going well, supporting the understanding of this policy at the school level. Teachers are highly motivated to implement more flexible teaching methods, but challenges arise from students' readiness to learn independently. In addition, the main obstacles in the implementation of Merdeka Learning are limited technological facilities, internet access, and lack of an effective evaluation system. Therefore, further support is needed from the government in providing digital facilities, teacher training, and strengthening the evaluation mechanism so that this policy can be implemented optimally and sustainably.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the application of accounting in boarding house businesses in Secang Samban Village and identify the obstacles faced by business owners in financial management. The problem focuses on financial records that are still done manually and the minimal use of technology in managing cash flow. In order to approach this problem, theoretical references from managerial accounting and accounting information systems are used. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation with descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of the study indicate that the majority of boarding house business owners have not implemented a systematic accounting system, so that financial records are less than optimal. The main factors that are obstacles are limited understanding of accounting, lack of time to do routine records, and low adoption of technology in bookkeeping. This study concludes that basic accounting education and training, as well as the use of digital bookkeeping applications, can be a solution to increasing the effectiveness of financial records and supporting more professional and sustainable boarding house business management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze TikTok Shop users' perception of government regulations that close direct buying and selling activities on the application on October 4, 2023. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, data was collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 89 active students of FISIP University of Medan Area, who are TikTok Shop users. Data analysis was carried out using validity, reliability, and simple linear regression tests to measure the relationship between user perception and government regulations. The results of the study show that the majority of respondents (66%) do not agree with this regulation, considering it as a restriction on access to affordable goods, especially for Generation Z who are used to shopping at TikTok Shop. This negative perception is influenced by convenient shopping experiences and economic factors, although a small percentage of respondents see these regulations as a positive step to protect consumers and create healthy competition. These findings underscore the importance of transparent communication between the government and the public to improve perceptions of the policy, as well as reduce uncertainty and socio-economic impacts.

Abstract

Self-confidence is an important aspect of female student self-development, especially in supporting active participation in academic and social activities. However, insecurity due to dissatisfaction with physical appearance is still a common phenomenon among female students. One of the strategies used to overcome this is the use of makeup. This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of makeup use and the level of confidence in female students of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Prima Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. A sample of 190 female students was selected through purposive sampling techniques. The data collection instrument used the Likert scale, with the makeup intensity aspect referring to Ajzen's theory (frequency and duration), and the confidence aspect referring to Lauster's theory. The results of the Pearson Product-Moment analysis showed a significant negative correlation (r = -0.479; p < 0.05), which indicates that the higher the intensity of makeup use, the lower the confidence level. These findings suggest that makeup is often used as compensation for insecurity, rather than as an authentic indicator of self-confidence.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the financial strategy and business management of Kos Purnomo in facing the challenges of financial management and business development in the boarding house sector. Kos Purnomo is a small-scale boarding house business located in the strategic area of Bawen. The majority of tenants are students and young workers, so this market segment is very sensitive to price and service quality.  The focus of the research includes financial recording systems, cash flow management, investment strategies, and the level of resident satisfaction with the available facilities. This study uses a qualitative approach, with data collection through in-depth interviews with boarding house owners and residents, as well as direct observation of financial management practices.  The results showed that 60% of residents experienced late rent payments in the last three months, which resulted in irregular cash flow. Emergency maintenance costs, such as repairs to water installations and bathroom facilities, also add to the burden of expenses. For this reason, it is recommended to implement an automatic payment reminder system and allocate a reserve fund of at least 10% of monthly income.  In terms of investment, development plans such as adding rooms and improving Wi-Fi quality are hampered by limited capital. Alternative funding through cooperatives, small business loans, or strategic partnerships are recommended solution. The study also found that marketing strategies that rely solely on word of mouth are less effective. Social media-based approaches and digital promotions have been shown to increase the number of interested parties by up to 20% compared to conventional methods. Furthermore, residents' preferences in choosing boarding houses are influenced by affordable prices, locations close to activity centers, and the availability of supporting facilities such as Wi-Fi and private bathrooms. The provision of additional services such as laundry and catering is seen as an opportunity to increase resident satisfaction and strengthen competitiveness. Overall, the proposed strategies are expected to improve the sustainability of Kos Purnomo's business in the long term through financial efficiency, service differentiation, and digital marketing optimization.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between perception of politics, job stress, job satisfaction, negligent behavior, turnover intention, and self-reported absenteeism in the work environment. The analysis results show that politics significantly affects job stress and satisfaction, whereas a positive political perception can reduce and increase job satisfaction. Job stress was found to hurt job satisfaction, which ultimately increased negligent behavior in the workplace. Additionally, job satisfaction is vital in reducing negligent behavior and self-reported absenteeism, underscoring the importance of organizational efforts in improving employee satisfaction. In contrast, turnover intention did not significantly correlate with negligent behavior or self-reported absenteeism, suggesting other factors may influence this intention. These findings emphasize the importance of building a positive political perception in the workplace, managing job stress, and increasing job satisfaction to create a more productive and conducive work environment. The study also shows that some relationships between variables are not always significant, so more research is needed to understand more complex interactions in the work environment.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the legislative function of the North Sumatra Provincial DPRD in the formation of regional regulations (Perda) for the 2019-2024 period. The DPRD has a strategic role in producing regional regulations, but of the 72 Ranperda proposed, only 30 were passed (42%), showing that productivity is still low compared to other provinces. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data was obtained through in-depth interviews with members of the DPRD, executive officials, and other stakeholders, as well as analysis of related documents. The theories used include the Theory of Deliberative Democracy (Habermas), as well as the Theory of Risk Society and Risk Modernity (Beck and Giddens), to understand the dynamics of legislation and the relevance of the resulting regulations. The results of the study show that the low productivity of the DPRD in the formation of the Regional Regulation is caused by several main factors, namely the long and complex drafting process, the density of the work agenda of the DPRD members, and the low participation of the community in policy formulation. In addition, the quality and relevance of the resulting Regional Regulations still need to be improved so that they can be more effective in answering the needs of the people of North Sumatra. This study recommends strengthening the deliberation mechanism, optimizing the legislative function of the DPRD, and increasing public participation so that the resulting policies are more representative and of higher quality.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the experiences of Universitas Medan Area students in using WhatsApp as a medium for academic and social communication. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological method was used to understand students subjective experiences. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations of communication activities within academic WhatsApp groups. The findings indicate that (1) WhatsApp facilitates students in accessing academic information, discussing with lecturers, and coordinating coursework, although challenges such as information overload and text-based miscommunication persist; (2) the application supports academic collaboration through document sharing and group discussions, but low engagement from members can hinder productivity; (3) besides academic communication, WhatsApp strengthens students social networks but can also become a source of distraction and social pressure; (4) students adopt strategies such as notification management and integrating additional academic platforms to enhance productivity, while institutional policies also play a role in fostering more effective academic communication. This study concludes that while WhatsApp plays a crucial role in academic and social communication, its optimization highly depends on individual strategies and institutional policies.

Abstract

This study explores how civil wars serve as catalysts for the transformation of military strategy and the shaping of national identity, particularly in the transition from second-generation warfare (2GW) to third-generation warfare (3GW). Using a descriptive qualitative approach and literature analysis from reputable international sources, this research examines the dynamics of combat tactics, the role of non-state actors, and the socio-political impacts of internal armed conflicts. Findings reveal that civil wars promote the adoption of more flexible, adaptive, and decentralized military strategies, such as infiltration, urban warfare, and the use of low-cost yet effective technologies like drones. Moreover, these conflicts generate social pressure, refugee flows, and intergenerational trauma that reconstruct collective identity and national narratives. Civil wars not only trigger tactical innovation within the military domain but also drive significant changes in power structures and the global social landscape. Thus, civil wars function as both strategic arenas and historical laboratories for the evolution of contemporary warfare paradigms.
