Abstract

The Flamboyan residential area is one area that has great potential to be developed as a tourist attraction in the city of Palangkaraya so that it has business opportunities for the local community, especially housewives to increase family income. But the area also has health problems that must be immediately addressed to become a comfortable tourist area to visit. Community service activities carried out have the aim of improving the degree of health and economic status of the community in the Flamboyan tourist area through improving the skills and knowledge of housewives. The stages of this activity are counseling or socialization of prevention and treatment of infectious diseases as well as the socialization of clean and healthy living behavior, the practice of making Bawang Dayak Gummy, and the practice of processing haruan fish oil. Community service activities that have been carried out have received good appreciation from partners, this can be seen from the results of the evaluation conducted knowledge and skills that have been given can be practiced by partners directly and partners have felt the positive impact of the results of community service activities such as being able to do independent treatment for minor ailments that often affects family members.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to provide skills to the orphans of the Ayah Bunda Orphanage of Palangkaraya so that after they are no longer fostered at the institution, they have the skills to be able to do entrepreneurship independently and can support themselves. The output is expected to carry out community service so that the orphans, especially those who are teenagers, will be able to be independent and no longer dependent on other people in the community. The method used in carrying out this training is in the form of giving lectures with instructions for making chips; discussion with fellow participants; demonstration, the implementation of training to make Kelakai chips; and evaluation, which is giving value to participants who participated in the training. Based on the evaluation results of the implementation of the training that the participants attended the training very well and gave a very positive response, this can be seen from the results of the evaluation: First, from the five stages of the activity from the preparatory stage, the suitability of making chips, the suitability of the texture, the suitability of the resulting flavor and the stage of arranging equipment after completion of activities. Second, the evaluation results in group 1 category are very good with a score of 18; group 2 good score 16; groups 3 and 4 categories both scored 14 and 15, respectively.

Abstract

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb. Dear reader, now PengabdianMu: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat re-published on Volume 5 Issue 3 June 2020. The success of this publication is the result of good cooperation of all parties who maintain the publishing sustainability four times a year. The publication of PengabdianMu: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat certainly participates in disseminating the results of community services in science and technology development conducted by lecturers and researchers especially from UM Palangkaraya and other universities. This edition contains 15 articles consisting of Education, Social and Political, Agriculture, Engineering, and Health Science topics. Editorial boards are fully aware that there is still room for improvement in this edition, hence with all humility willing to accept constructive suggestions and feedback for improvements to the publication for the next editions. Abstract

The 2013 curriculum requires learning materials to improve the competence of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to create valuable work. This decomposed leaf bone handicraft activity is a concrete example of fulfilling 2013 curriculum achievements. Besides helping to understand biology lessons, the activity of making leaf bone crafts can foster an entrepreneurial spirit for students. Therefore, in this community service activity, training to make handicrafts from leaf bones is given to teachers and students in SMA N 1 and SMP 2 Banyuputih, Situbondo. The training was attended by 23 students and one teacher at SMA N 1 and dam 20 students and one teacher at SMP 2 Banyuputih, Situbondo. The training is carried out by the method of delivering material and direct practice. The activity was also carried out with direct discussion with participants. The results of this training activity showed that all participants gained new knowledge and skills, namely how to make crafts made from leaf bones. Craft made of leaf bone is very attractive to students because students can know the bone structure directly. This dedication activity provides insight to both students and teachers to take advantage of local wisdom around it to be more valuable.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to increase knowledge and train teachers in creating and applying learning tools based on scientific approaches that contain the character and creating and applying contextual and innovative media/teaching aids in learning. The method of implementing PKM activities consists of socialization, seminars, training, mentoring, and implementation. Participants in PKM activities are science teachers at SMP and equivalent who are members of the MGMP IPA for SMP Kota Singkawang. The results of the activity show that the teachers are enthusiastic about participating in the series of activities carried out; the teachers are motivated to make science learning media and apply them in classroom learning. Teachers are motivated to create and apply learning models based on scientific approaches with character learning in the classroom.

Abstract

Batik is one of Indonesia's cultural arts, which has been integrated with Indonesian people since several centuries ago. However, so far, the batik produced still uses synthetic motifs and coloring, which can contribute to environmental pollution. Hence, people's interest in batik starts to diminish, so it is necessary to find breakthroughs in batik motifs and coloring, which are more environmentally friendly by using natural dyes. One of the natural dyes for batik is to use plant leaves that grow around the house, also called eco print, which is the activity of making leaves with specific patterns on a t-shirt, which produces motifs and colors obtained from the leaves. The target partners involved in community service activities are women's business groups in Palangka Raya, which are under the auspices of the Palangka Raya City Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency, namely UKM Bawi Dayak Palangka Raya. This is because the batik produced so far still uses synthetic motifs and coloring. Assistance carried out for this group is to provide insight into knowledge and understanding of the importance of natural coloring and the danger of synthetic dyes. Build and encourage creativity informing design motifs and colors on fabric through the use of leaves that grow around the house. Outcome targets are t-shirt products that use leaves as motifs and natural dyes—introducing natural batik with the use of natural resources around.

Abstract

Citizen journalism or citizen journalism can now be done by anyone, anywhere, without special knowledge in delivering the news. This can be a severe problem because some citizen journalists only deliver news that occurs around the real world without fulfilling the news elements, namely 5W + 1H, and do not understand the journalistic code of ethics. So that the news delivered can violate the rules in journalism. Citizen journalism education action is needed to solve problems in most people in Indonesia, especially among students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Kalampangan, Palangkaraya. For this reason, all students must be able to participate in making social media a means of journalism by using journalism principles such as writing procedures and journalistic code of ethics. This citizen journalism education program, is a program in educating high school students using social media to become professional citizen journalists and can be used as a reference for the community in Kalampangan in obtaining information around their environment. It is hoped that in the future, the students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Palangkaraya can apply citizen journalism education into their daily life and be able to transmit it to the community around Kalampangan village.

Abstract

Management of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) aims to improve the quality of life for DM sufferers and reduce the risk of acute complications. Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) is a process that facilitates knowledge, skills, and abilities in self-care for DM patients based on evidence-based research. This activity aims to increase DM sufferers' knowledge and health status at Parangloe Health Center, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The DSME administration was carried out in three sessions with 45 minutes and carried out diabetic foot gym training. Besides, the blood sugar level is checked at any time. The results achieved were an increase in knowledge of DM sufferers by 63.4% regarding definitions, classifications, signs and symptoms, risk factors, DM complications, diet, physical exercise, types and benefits of drugs given, foot care, and 96% being able to do foot exercises for diabetic. Also, there was an increase in the understanding and skills of cadres about DM self-care management. DM patients are also expected to check their blood glucose regularly and use the DM Self-Care Manual that has been provided.

Abstract

The people of Palangka Raya city, especially millennials, especially students who are currently a small part of the Indonesian population who are prone to disasters and are responsible for maintaining the local wisdom of the Indonesian people in the face of disasters. It is these millennials who must receive disaster preparedness training in order to reduce the impact of a bigger disaster. Solutions that can be given to increase public knowledge, especially millennials, about disaster management and preparedness to reduce the more significant impact of disasters occur, namely by providing training to students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palangka Raya.

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is a way that puts forward critical and creative values ​​so that it is seen as being able to provide solutions in facing the times. The method used is descriptive to describe HOTS-based learning and assessment. The purpose of this activity is to improve the ability of elementary school (SD) teachers in designing HOTS-based learning tools consisting of lesson plans and HOTS-based assessments. This activity is motivated by the skills faced by elementary school teachers in the implementation of the 2013 curriculum, especially in designing and implementing HOTS-based learning, as well as developing HOTS-based assessments. Therefore, this activity aims to make teachers become professionals in educating elementary students in developing children's thinking skills at a higher level.
