Abstract

Childbirth is a natural process. In the first stage of labor, physiological muscle contractions will cause pain in the body. One of the factors that can affect labor pain is the mother's age and the psychological support received by the mother in labor. The form of psychological support given to mothers in labor is by presenting birth attendants. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the age of delivery mothers and birth attendants with the intensity of labor pain in the first stage of Primipara mothers. This research method is an observational study with a cross-sectional method on 60 mothers giving birth data analysis using the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed a significant relationship between the mother's age in labor and the birth attendant and the intensity of labor pain. This study concludes that reproductive age and the presence of a birth attendant will significantly assist the mother in going through her labor period with minimal pain and complications.

Abstract

Blood is evidence of a crime that can be damaged by humans and environmental factors. One of the contaminants that have the potential to affect the specificity of the Kastle-Meyer method in detecting blood is the variation in the degree of acidity (pH). Specificity analysis of the Kastle-Meyer method is needed to determine the ability of the Kastle-Meyer method to detect blood in the presence of other components/contaminants that may be present in a sample. The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in the addition of an acidic solution with a pH of 1.2-8.4 on the specificity of blood detection using the Kastle-Meyer method. The research was conducted in the form of pre-experimental research with a static-group comparison design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Blood samples that have been added to an acid solution with a certain pH (pH 1,2; 2.4; 3.6; 4.8; 6; and 7.2) were then tested using the Kastle-Meyer method. The principle of the Kastle-Meyer method is based on the activity of the peroxidase enzyme present in hemoglobin in the blood. The results showed the specificity of the Kastle-Meyer method on blood samples with acid solution contaminants with a pH of 1.2; 2,4; 3,6; 4.8; 6.0; 7.2; and 8.4 respectively at 70%, 70%, 90%, 60%, 60%, 90%, 80%. The results of data analysis from the Kruskal-Wallis test showed a significance p-value 0.269 > 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is no difference in the specificity of the Kastle-Meyer method in detecting blood in the addition of acid solutions with different acidity degrees.

Abstract

Pharmacy services are one of the services that must be minimal in a hospital. One indicator to measure pharmaceutical services that meet standards is the waiting time for services, especially prescription drugs. Waiting time for services is one of the most important concerns because it affects patient satisfaction. The reality is that there are still waiting times for prescription drugs that do not meet the minimum service standards in hospitals. This research aims to determine the factors that influence waiting times for outpatient prescription services in hospital pharmacy installations. This study uses a descriptive approach. This study uses a systematic review. Several factors influence the waiting time for prescription drug services in hospital pharmacy installations, namely the lack of human resources in pharmaceutical installations, the completeness of patient files that have not been fulfilled, the lack of availability of drugs prescribed by doctors, the use of electronic and manual prescriptions together, the number of prescription doctors not in National Forum, the number of prescriptions that ask for concoction drugs, information systems in pharmaceutical installations that are less than optimal, doctors who are difficult to contact when prescriptions are difficult to read, space is inadequate. Hospitals need to pay attention to these factors so that they can maintain the quality of hospital services.

Abstract

Caries are a common dental health problem in children. There are four causes of caries, namely host (host), agent (microflora), environment (substrate), and time. Individual counseling methods such as Irene's Donut method can lead parents to educate their children in maintaining dental health habits from an early age. This method aims to make parents aware of the risk factors for caries and provide a menu on how to deal with caries disease, in hope that it can empower the community to be independent. Dental health behavior includes knowledge, attitudes, and actions related to the concept of healthy and the prevention efforts for toothache. This type of research uses a quasi-experimental with a one-group pre-test post-test research design. The population and sample in this study were kindergarten students in the District of Ilir Barat I Palembang City. The number of samples was 68 pairs of students and mothers with a total of 136 with the random sampling technique. The data obtained were tested using the T-test analysis, used when the data is normally distributed. The results showed that there were differences in maternal knowledge and behavior before and after counseling with Irene's Donuts media. Irene's Donuts media is effective in increasing the knowledge and behavior of mothers in preventing dental caries in children in Kindergarten, Ilir Barat I District, Palembang City.

Abstract

The incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women can increase the mother's risk of anemia, low body weight, bleeding, infectious diseases, and low birth weight. One of the efforts to reduce the incidence of CED pregnant women is the provision of additional food (PMT). Steamed Bolu can be an alternative to PMT for pregnant women. This study aims to determine the acceptability of beetroot cake as PMT for pregnant women and the effect of giving beetroot steamed cake on pregnant women's Hb levels. This type of research is an experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD). The number of experimental units was 4 treatments and each treatment was repeated with 3 replications. The results of the study were analyzed by ANOVA. The results of the preference test showed that Formula 2 (addition of 150gr of beets) turned out to be preferable in terms of taste (p-value=0.452), and aroma (p-value=0.713). Meanwhile, F1 (addition of 125gr of beets) is preferred in terms of color (p-value=0.922), texture (p-value=0.201), and aroma (p-value=0.713). Formula 3 (addition of 175gr of beetroot) turned out to contain higher energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, Fe, and water content than other formulas. The results of the trial on pregnant women showed that there was no significant difference between Hb levels before and after being given a steamed sponge. This study concludes that formula 1 (F1) is preferred. Then formula 3 (F3) contains the highest nutrient content. There was no difference in the Hb levels of pregnant women before and after being given steamed beet cake.

Abstract

Diarrhea cases in Indonesia were 270/1000 population or 7,265,013 cases occurred at all ages with a mortality rate (CFR) of 4.76% in 2018. Treatment of diarrhea can be done by giving antibiotics such as Cefotaxime, Ciprofloxacin, Gentamicin, Ampicillin, Metronidazole, Co-trioxide, Ceftriaxone, and Erythromycin. However, inappropriate use of antibiotics can lead to bacterial resistance. Turmeric is a medicinal plant that contains curcumin and essential oils that can inhibit the growth of bacteria. There are 24 essential oils in turmeric, which are dominated by turmerone (35.16%), ar-turmerone (25.20%), curlon (18.21%), and ar-curcumin (3.74%). Turmeric water obtained through juice has the potential as an antibacterial agent. This study is a pure experiment using a post-test-only control group design by examining the effect of turmeric juice (Curcuma domestica Val.) as an antibacterial of Escherichia coli bacteria. The results showed the ability of turmeric juice to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. The concentration of turmeric juice was able to produce an inhibition zone at concentrations ranging from 40% at 14 mm and the highest concentration at 100% at 24 mm. The results of the One Way Anova test showed that the results were not significant because the p-value>0.05 (p-value=0.351). This means that the average diameter of the inhibition at the concentration of turmeric juice 40%, 55%, 70%, 85%, and 100% did not have a significant difference. Turmeric juice has effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of E.coli bacteria.
