Abstract

Stunting is a growth disorder in toddlers as a result of chronic malnutrition so the child's height does not match their age based on the index of height for age (TB/U) with limits (z-score) is less than -2 Standard Deviation. The impact of stunting causes irreversible disruptions to the physical development of children, which causes a decrease in children's cognitive and motor skills, as well as increased susceptibility to suffering from a disease. One way to overcome malnutrition that occurs in children under five needs to be supplemented with supplementary feeding (PMT). Providing balanced nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life (HPK) can meet the needs of macro and micronutrients to avoid or reduce the risk of stunting. High amounts of protein, iron, calcium, and carotenoids are important for the growth and development of children, especially in preventing stunted growth and malnutrition of protein energy. Moringa leaves are reported to have quite a few nutrients, namely, 10 times the vitamin A found in carrots, 17 times calcium milk, 9 times the protein of yogurt, and carotenoids which are more than oranges, carrots, and melons. Moringa oleifera can be used to treat malnutrition and strengthen complementary foods with local plants that are rich in protein and micronutrients. Processed Moringa leaves can be consumed in dry or wet form and mixed in other foodstuffs with minimal costs. This menu can be a complementary food to fulfill the nutritional needs of 1000 HPK.

Abstract

Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) is a plant that can be used as a natural insecticide. Tobacco extracts can be made as alternative nanoinsecticides to be used as Aedes aegypti control. This study aims to obtain information on the toxicity of tobacco nanoinsecticides and obtain the LD50 of tobacco nanoinsecticides in mice. The research was conducted at the Center for Disease Vector and Reservoir Research and Development (B2P2VRP) with a pure experimental method. The results showed that the particle size ranged from 26.9; 53.7 and 89nm. The results of the metal content test with an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) showed the presence of Ag content in the nanoinsecticide solution made. Spectrophotometry measurements showed a peak at a wavelength of 420 nm and functional group bonds were formed. The characteristic SEM photo shows the particle morphology in the form of round-face crystals. The results of the toxicity test using the OECD 423 LD50 method at 2500mg/kg BB showed that tobacco nanoinsecticides were in the slightly toxic category. Administration of tobacco nanoinsecticides causes toxic symptoms in the form of decreased cardiac activity, convulsions, and decreased movement activity, while from the histopathological test results, the number of kidney injuries is in the range of 10 to 25%.

Abstract

Statistical data from the Covid 19 task force in Surabaya confirmed that the death rate for COVID-19 cases until February 2021 reached 1,276 from a cumulative number of 19,089 confirmed COVID-19 and most of the deaths were 42 years old. This condition caused fear, especially in the elderly, and families with children, toddlers, and families with newborns who are at risk of mental health crises, thus requiring the development of a resilience framework to develop a stimulation model for children's social-emotional development based on cultural values and beliefs. This study aimed to determine the model of parental stimulation and resilience and their effect on children's social and emotional development. This research is a survey with a cross-sectional approach, totality sampling is 300 respondents, the instrument uses a questionnaire, while the social-emotional uses the Social Diversity Questionnaire. Test analysis using SEM modeling. The results of the stimulation model have a positive influence on children's socio-emotional development of 0.78 with a t-count value of 4.556 and p-value=0.001. The resilience stage model has a t-count value of 4.987 and a path coefficient of 0.92 with a p-value=0.001. The resilience stage has a positive influence on the stimulation model of 0.57 with a t-count value of 3.245 and a p-value 0.001. Activities to stimulate the development of children at the age of 5 years can be done by making work together with parents with resilience conditions in the recovery stage.

Abstract

Antioxidants are substances that function to help overcome oxidative damage caused by free radicals or reactive oxygen compounds. Formation of free radicals in the body one of which is due to exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The formation of free radicals due to UV radiation can be overcome by using sunscreen. Avocado seeds and corn cobs are known to be rich in flavonoids which have the potential to be used as antioxidants and sunscreens. Both are wastes that have the potential to be utilized. This study aims to test and determine the antioxidant and sunscreen activities of five cream formulations containing a 1% mixture of avocado seed extract and corn cobs (0% : 1%, 0.25% : 0.75%, 0.5% : 0.5%, 0.75% : 0.25%, and 1% : 0%). Each formula was replicated five times. The preparation of each formula was evaluated including organoleptic (smell, color, and consistency) and homogeneity which was carried out by 25 panelists. Also tested for pH, spreadability, cream type, stability, antioxidant activity using the DPPH method and sunscreen activity (in vitro determination of SPF) on each formula. The organoleptic test results showed an orange cream with a characteristic odor and a semi-solid to a slightly liquid consistency. All cream formulas are homogeneous, the type of cream produced is oil in water type, physically stable cream, pH of all creams is 8, dispersion is 6-8cm, no antioxidant activity while sunscreen activity is minimal to moderate (value of SPF 3-5).

Abstract

The prevalence of stunted toddlers becomes a public health problem if the prevalence is 20% or more. The 2014 Global Nutrition Report reported that Indonesia was included in 17 of 117 countries, with three nutritional problems, namely stunting, wasting, and overweight. The percentage of stunted toddlers in Indonesia is still high and is a health problem that must be addressed. The high rate of stunting in toddlers aged 6-24 months is due to access to quality drinking water, sanitation and hygiene are still low, so the risk of toddlers suffering from infectious diseases is still high which has an impact on the low intake of nutrients needed for toddler growth. This study aims to determine access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene as risk factors for stunting, using a case-control design, the number of samples is 525 (175 cases 350 controls) children aged 6-24 months. The results of this study found that individuals who have access to inadequate drinking water are at risk 4.62 times (95% CI1.924-11.077) compared to safe drinking water, and access to sanitation is not yet at risk 4.60 times (95% CI: 2.111-10.009) compared to Access to safe sanitation. Not having access to hygiene has a risk of 3.67 times (95% CI: 1.978-6.815) compared to access to proper hygiene. This study concludes that drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene are risk factors for stunting in North Sungkai District. So coordination between sectors and involving various stakeholders need to be improved.

Abstract

Covid-19 has been declared a global pandemic Anxiety is a problem that often arises in patients treated at healthcare centers or hospitals. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors related to anxiety in facing societal stigma in Covid-19 patients in the Covid-19 Isolation Room of RSD Mangusada. This research method is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design conducted in the Covid-19 Isolation Room of RSD Mangusada in March-May 2021. The sampling technique was determined using consecutive sampling with a sample of 256 respondents. The Ordinary Logistic Regression test was used to determine the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable and to determine the most influential variable. The results showed that the age variable was the most influential on anxiety with a p-value of 0.049, OR=2.25, which means respondents aged 17-25 years can increase the risk of anxiety by 2.25 times compared to respondents who are adults and the elderly. Age, comorbid status, coping responses, disease-related information, and family support are factors related to patient anxiety in dealing with community stigma in Covid-19 patients at Mangusada Hospital. The involvement of all parties is absolutely necessary for dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 basic immunization coverage in Indonesia decreased compared to last year. This study aims to find out a picture of the mother's experience in getting basic immunization for an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Sawangan Healthcare Service Center, Depok City. Qualitative research design with phenomenological approach model, data collection with in-depth interviews of 7 participants with snowball sampling data collection method. The results found 6 themes including 1) An overview of the meaning of basic immunization, 2) a Negative maternal response to getting basic immunization in an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic, 3) a Positive maternal response to getting basic immunization for an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic, 4) Sources of maternal support in getting basic immunization for an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic, 6) Maternal barriers in getting basic immunization during the Covid-19 pandemic, 7) Mothers' expectations in basic immunization services for an infant during the Covid-19 pandemic. The enthusiasm of the mothers was extraordinary in their efforts to continue to get immunizations for the infants. However, government policies and regulations regarding immunization services during the Covid-19 pandemic have had a huge impact on the completeness of basic immunization coverage for infants during the Covid-19 pandemic, so this becomes a new threat and problem, especially the increase in diseases that can be prevented by immunization. Mothers with babies aged 0-12 months must improve their information technology skills to find out basic immunization service programs during the Covid-19 pandemic.
