Abstract

Stunting is a condition of failure to thrive in children under five years of age (toddlers) due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections. Children are classified as stunted if their length or height is below minus two standard deviations of the size or height of children their age. Stunting handling must synergize between ministries/institutions, regional governments, and the business world/community. This study aims to help cadres and parents monitor the growth and development of typical toddlers in general and stunted toddlers in particular by using the BERAKSI Application. The method used in compiling this application is "Waterfall," a sequential software development process starting from planning, modeling, implementation (construction), and testing. The stages in developing the waterfall method are requirements (needs analysis), system design, coding and testing, program implementation, and maintenance. The results of the application compilation research, namely BERAKSI, display four menu features, including 1) Growth, 2) Development, 3) Balanced Nutrition, and 3) Parenting. The advantage of the BERAKSI Program application compared to similar applications is that it has updates in the form of interventions providing balanced nutrition for toddlers who experience stunting and malnutrition with menus that have been consulted and recommended by nutritionists, as well as having a parenting menu that has been consulted and advised by child psychologists. Field data input into the BERAKSI application can be saved and downloaded on Google Spreadsheet. The BERAKSI application can be downloaded without paying via Playstore using an Android-based mobile device connected to the internet network.

Abstract

The trial implementation of the PrEP program as an HIV prevention program in Semarang City has not run optimally. Health workers with an essential role as program implementers still experience technical and technical obstacles in recording and reporting, which are quite complicated. It is necessary for a program that has been running for almost 3 years to carry out more in-depth studies, especially for health workers who play a direct role in providing PrEP services. Data collection was descriptive and qualitative, using in-depth interviews. The study subjects consisted of nine primary informants and four triangulated informants using purposive sampling. Data validity is carried out by triangulating data sources. Data reliability is measured by data audit and data analysis using the content analysis method. The study results show that health workers' implementation of the PrEP program differs from the management guidelines published by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2023. Most health workers have a low level of knowledge regarding the PrEP program and perceive that the PrEP program supports LGBT and free sex. As a result, intrapersonal conflict arises because it is considered to conflict with one's thought patterns and conscience. The conclusion is that the low level of knowledge among the majority of PrEP program implementers significantly influences the PrEP program's success. Therefore, there is a need for regular, more comprehensive training related to the PrEP program.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a high risk in vulnerable groups with low immunity, such as children. Environmental factors and household contacts influence the high incidence of tuberculosis. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between housing conditions and the presence of household contacts with the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in children. This study used a case-control design. This study used a case-control design at the Puskesmas Kedaton Bandar Lampung from December 2023 to January 2024. The total sample was 58 children (29 cases and 29 controls), selected using Simple Random Sampling. The variables of this study were residential density, humidity, lighting, floor type, ventilation area, and the presence of household contacts. This study used univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with chi-square, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression. This study shows that there is a relationship between lighting (p=0,008), ventilation area (p=0,032), and the presence of household contacts (p<0,001) with the incidence of pulmonary TB in children. The factor most associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB in children was lighting (OR=6.061; 95% CI=1.768-20.777), which means children with home lighting that does not meet the requirements have a 6.061 times higher risk of experiencing childhood pulmonary TB than those who meet the lighting requirements. There is a relationship between lighting, ventilation area, and the presence of household contacts with the incidence of pediatric pulmonary tuberculosis in the Puskesmas Kedaton, Bandar Lampung working area.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in North Lampung is high. Coverage of antenatal care visits in 2021 (88.7%) has yet to reach the target (100%), even though the number of midwives and integrated health post (Posyandu) services increases every year. The Minimum Service Standard report also indicates that the budget for maternal care services is around 17% of the total budget allocation. This study aims to provide an overview of the implementation of the 10 Antenatal Care (ANC) services in North Lampung. The research design employs a quantitative method with a documentation study using Maternal and Child Health (MCH) books and questionnaires to measure midwives' knowledge in North Lampung. The sample size was determined using the open-source calculator SSPropor (OpenEpi, version 3), resulting in 595 collected samples for this study. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses. None (0%) of the pregnant women received all 10 ANC services. Almost all pregnant women (>90%) received blood pressure examinations, counseling, and referral services. Meanwhile, the ANC service received least frequently (<50%) was the provision of Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) tablets. There is a significant difference in the mean coverage based on the three clusters, and there is a weak relationship between Midwives' Knowledge and the implementation of 10 ANC services. Recommendations: There is a need for programs to comprehensively improve knowledge about ANC standards among health workers and volunteers. Discipline in recording needs to be enhanced. Further qualitative studies are required to gain a broader perspective.

Abstract

The extract of andaliman fruit has antimicrobial activity. The active compounds of andaliman fruit are believed to positively contribute to human health, one of which is flavonoids, which can improve the wound healing process because of their function as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. This study aims to determine the effect of giving ethanol extract of andaliman fruit on the healing process of incision wounds in Wistar strain white rats and collagen type III. This research is an experimental posttest-only controlled group design. This study used five groups: NaCL treatment, betadine treatment, 1% andaliman ethanol extract treatment, 3% andaliman ethanol extract treatment, and 5% andaliman ethanol extract treatment, where each group had six rats. Data analysis used normality tests, homogeneity tests, and ANOVA tests. The results showed that the ethanol extract of andaliman fruit contains several active compounds such as alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and glycosides. The fastest incision wound healing was the fourth test group, the test group with 3% andaliman fruit ethanol extract treatment on day 14, with an average length of incision wound healing of 3.44mm. The 3% andaliman ethanol extract had the potential to accelerate wound healing activity.

Abstract

Anemia is a global health issue that affects people of all ages, particularly adolescent girls. Adolescent girls require nutritional intake, both from food and water. According to the balanced nutrition guidelines, people (particularly adolescents and adults) require 2000 liters (or eight glasses) of water daily. Most adolescent girls barely consider their water consumption. A lack of water in the body affects the balance of minerals (salt and sugar), disrupting regular metabolic processes such as hemoglobin (Hb) level regulation. This study investigates the correlation between adolescent girls' water consumption and hemoglobin levels. This quantitative study uses a cross-sectional design to collect variable data at a certain time. The study used blood with anti-coagulants EDTA from 30 adolescent girls from Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang. The primary data for this study are water consumption and hemoglobin levels. Results of the research show that adolescent girls' water consumption was adequate (66.7%) and low (33.3%). The average Hb level among adolescent girls was 12.4 g/dL. Adequate water consumption resulted in 3 respondents with low Hb levels and 7 with normal Hb levels. In contrast, low water consumption resulted in 2 respondents with low Hb levels and 18 with normal Hb levels. The Rank-Spearman correlation test showed sig 0.177 (p>0.05). The study concluded that there was no correlation between adolescent girl water consumption and hemoglobin levels. Food fluid intake can compensate for a lack of water consumption.
