Abstract

In early 2025, 28 inmates at the Kutoarjo Class I Correctional Facility committed violations, representing the highest rate recorded in the past five years. This study aimed to examine the influence of emotional intelligence on emotion regulation among inmates. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the study involved 92 participants. Data were collected using the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. The findings indicated that emotional intelligence has a significant effect on emotion regulation (p < 0.05; R² = 0.280). This suggests that emotional intelligence accounts for 28% of the variance in emotion regulation, while the remaining 72% is influenced by other unexamined factors. These results underscore the important role of emotional intelligence in shaping adaptive emotional regulation and highlight the need for targeted rehabilitation programs to enhance inmates’ psychological competencies and support successful social reintegration.

Abstract

Coping assessments in Indonesia often focus on only one or two aspects, which limits their ability to describe coping strategies across time. Schwarzer expands this perspective through future-oriented coping, which views coping as a continuous process shaped by past experiences, present conditions, and expectations about the future. This study develops a coping instrument based on Schwarzer’s four dimensions: Reactive, Anticipatory, Preventive, and Proactive Coping. A total of 210 participants aged 17 to 30 were recruited using quota sampling. From an initial pool of 40 items, 17 items were retained after statistical screening. The analyses included content validity, item–rest correlations, reliability testing, and confirmatory factor analysis. Results indicate strong reliability with an alpha value of 0.832 and good model fit shown by CFI 0.972, TLI 0.955, RMSEA 0.039, and SRMR 0.081. These findings support the validity and reliability of the instrument and demonstrate its usefulness for assessing coping related to past, present, and anticipated stress.

Abstract

Empathy is a crucial capacity in early adulthood, as it supports interpersonal relationships and mental health. This study examined the effects of Big Five personality traits and self-compassion on empathy, as well as differences in empathy by gender and age. A correlational design was employed with 207 participants aged 18–23 years who were recruited through convenience sampling. The instruments included the Big Five Personality Scale, the Self-Compassion Scale, and the Basic Empathy Scale. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, independent-samples t tests, and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that Big Five personality traits and self-compassion jointly predicted empathy. However, only agreeableness and neuroticism were significant individual predictors, whereas extraversion, conscientiousness, openness, and self-compassion were not statistically significant. Gender comparisons indicated that females scored higher than males on neuroticism and empathy. Age-group analyses revealed significant differences in agreeableness. These findings indicate that empathy in early adulthood is primarily shaped by interpersonal personality characteristics and emotional sensitivity, with gender playing a role, whereas age differences within this range are less influential.

Abstract

Many adolescents experience stress due to academic demands at school, which affects their mental health and psychological well-being. Psychological well-being is influenced by various factors, both internal and external, such as adversity quotient and family support. This study aims to determine the relationship between adversity quotient and family support with psychological well-being in adolescents. The study used a quantitative correlation method on 171 students of SMP X with multiple regression analysis using JASP software. The research instrument consisted of three scales, namely the psychological well-being scale based on the theory of Ryff and Keyes (1995), the adversity quotient scale based on the theory of Stoltz (2005), and the family support scale developed by the researcher. The results show that adversity quotient (r = 0.494; ; p<0.05) and family support (r=0.270; p<0.05) have a positive and significant relationship with psychological well-being. In conclusion, these two variables contribute 43.3% to the psychological well-being of adolescents.

Abstract

Early adults in Indonesia currently face complex psychological challenges, including career pressures, materialistic social comparisons that trigger life dissatisfaction, anxiety, declining psychological well-being, and increased risk of depression. In addition, the lack of standardized qana’ah measurement instruments with strong psychometric properties remains a major challenge in Islamic psychology research. This study aimed to develop a qana’ah measurement instrument for early adults using a modern psychometric approach based on the Rasch Model. Employing a quantitative non-experimental design and modern psychometric analysis via the Rasch Model with Winsteps version 3.73 software, the study involved 503 early adult participants aged 18–40 years. The results showed that out of 45 initial items, 38 items met the Rasch Model fit criteria. High content validity was evidenced by an Aiken’s V value of 0.913. The instrument demonstrated excellent reliability, with Cronbach’s alpha and McDonald’s omega both at 0.96, person reliability of 0.90, and item reliability of 0.98. Consequently, the developed qana’ah instrument is declared valid and reliable for measuring qana’ah levels among early adults.

Abstract

Post-pandemic employee loyalty is crucial yet inconsistent, requiring job satisfaction as a mediator. To analyze loyalty determinants via work stress (pressure and role conflict) and work environment mediated by job satisfaction. A survey of 75 PT. XYZ employees was analyzed using PLS-SEM. The model explains 64.3% of loyalty variance (R2=0.643). Role conflict is the dominant predictor of job satisfaction (β=0.685), fully mediating its impact on loyalty (β=0.460). Physical work pressure is insignificant. The work environment has a significant direct effect on loyalty (β=0.268). Retention strategies are more effective through conflict management and a conducive environment rather than merely reducing workload.

Abstract

This study explores the role of organizational culture in shaping teacher job satisfaction at a Muslim school in Thailand within a predominantly non-Muslim society. This context is important because the school functions not only as a formal educational institution but also as a space for preserving religious values and Islamic identity. The study employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with five teachers selected purposively. The findings reveal that organizational culture characterised by religious values, togetherness, and mutual respect contributes to teacher job satisfaction. Teachers felt motivated and emotionally connected to the school when organizational culture aligned with their personal and spiritual values. Ikhlas (sincerity) emerged as a key spiritual value underlying teachers’ commitment. Supportive leadership and a harmonious working environment further strengthened teachers’ sense of belonging. These findings highlight the importance of organizational culture in faith-based schools operating in minority contexts.

Abstract

High turnover intention among Generation Z employees poses a serious challenge for startup industries that rely on human resource stability and innovation. This study aims to examine the effect of distributive justice and job embeddedness on turnover intention among Generation Z employees in the startup industry. The research hypotheses propose that distributive justice and job embeddedness negatively affect turnover intention, both partially and simultaneously. This study employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach involving 175 Generation Z employees selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that distributive justice and job embeddedness simultaneously have a significant effect on turnover intention, with distributive justice emerging as the dominant predictor. These findings highlight the importance of fair reward distribution and strengthening job embeddedness to reduce turnover intention among Generation Z employees in the startup sector.
