Abstract

The quantitation of some minerals such as iron, zinc, magnese, acidity measurament and bacteriological analysis from same refilling water samples which are collected in Siteba, Padang has been done. Mineral measurement was done by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Acidy measurement done by acidy meter, and it’s bacteriological analysis done by using MPN (Most Probable Number) method. The result showed iron quantity from sample A, B, and C are 0,0615 mg/L; 0,0745 mg/L; 0,0747 mg/L respectively. It’szink quantity are 0.0110 mg/L; 0.0078 mg/L; 0.0110 mg/L respectively. Its magnese quantity is 0.0228 mg/L; 0 mg/L; 0 mg/L respectively. It’s acidy levels are 6.50; 6.61; 7.00. Its bacteriological number (Escherichia coli) is 5/100 mL; 0/100 mL; 96/100 mL. It showed that sample A and C have not complied the water qualification of public health RI. No. 907/MENKES/SK/VII/2002 in bactriological compounds.

Abstract

A research on the acute toxicity of ethanol extracts of leaves kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata (L) R.M.King & H.Rob). Parameters observed toxicity is LD50 and delayed toxic effects for 14 days of observation including changes in weight, the volume of water consumption, and the relative weight of the organs of the heart, liver, kidneys, stomach and lungs. The extract ethanol leaves kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata (L) R.M King & H.Rob) orally at a dose of 4 g/kgBB, 8 g/kgBB and 16 g/kgBB, showed that the ethanol extract of leaves kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata (L) R.M King & H.Rob) categorized practically non-toxic (LD50> 15 g/kgBB). Delayed toxic effects are seen from the significant differences in body weight, the volume of water, relative organ weight of lung and stomach (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the relative organ weight of the heart, liver and kidneys (P<0.05).

Abstract

Study about sub acute toxicity of jati leaf extract toward white male mice has been done, which consist of SGPT activity for liver function test, creatinine clearance for kidney function test and organ’s weight ratio. The extract was administered orally once a day for 15, 30 and 45 days with variable dose of 150, 300 and 600 mg per kg body weight. The result showed that there were no significant effect of jati leaf extract administration to the SGPT activity, kidney function and organ’s weight ratio (p > 0.05).

Abstract

A Qualitative analysis of nitrite and nitrate preservative and analysis of protein content in sausage fast food foundedin some markets in Padang has been done. The preservative in samples were extracted by mixing with water, and then identified by colour reaction. Analysis of preservative in samples was compared with standard preservative substance. From the identification, all samples contain preservative agent, nitrite and nitrate. Micro Kjehdahl method used to analysed protein in samples. The result showed that from each samples contained. Protein content 16.5% for samples A; 17.6% for samples B and 8.31% for samples C.

Abstract

Research on test teratogenic effects of ethanol  extract of leaves of the soursop (Annona muricata L.) have been conducted on white mice fetus. Animal experiments are grouped into  4 group consisting of Group I as a negative control only granted suspension of Na CMC 0.5%, Group II, Group III and Group IV granted soursop leaf ethanol extract at a dose of 250 mg / kg, 500 mg / kg, and 1000 mg / kg once daily from day 6 to day 15 of pregnancy. The 18th day of pregnancy mice were dissected. Results of the study at a dose of 250 mg / kg, a dose of 500 mg / kg, a dose of 1000 mg / kg give teratogen effects. A dose of 250 mg / kg, a dose of 500 mg / kg give teratogen effect with the discovery of skeletal abnormalities. A dose of 1000 mg / kg give teratogen effect with the discovery of late growth. Results showed that the ethanol extract of the leaves of the soursop affect weight loss parent mice were significantly (p <0.05) when compared to the negative control. The quantity of fetuses decreased significantly (p <0.05) when compared to the negative control. Fetal body weight showed a significant effect (p <0.05) when compared to the negative control.

Abstract

Has done research on the analysis of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity test on passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims) by visible spectrophotometry method. To determine the presence of phenolic compounds in the sample to be identified with iron  (III) chloride is characterized by the formation of dark blue color on the sample. Samples were macerated with 96% ethanol, performed three repetitions and the filtrate was concentrated using a rotary evaporator at a temperature of 400 C. Extracts were obtained determined the levels of phenolic compounds using Folin-ciocalteau method and test the antioxidant activity using DPPH method. Standard solution used is gallic acid. Equation linearity gallic acid used in the determination of phenolic compounds in the sample is y = 0.004x + 0.1366 with correlation coefficient (r) = 0.9956 measured at λ max 761.5 nm. the levels of phenolic compounds were obtained on average at the sample was 0.0377% w / w. The average percent inhibition of passion fruit sample solution were counted against the maximum wavelength of 512.0 nm DPPH is 19.8763%. The antioxidant activity of the sample solution of 10 mg is equivalent to 618.9760 mg gallic acid and gallic acid solution IC50 of 1.5604 mg / mL of the sample solution while the IC50 14.4751 mg / mL.

Abstract

It has been studied analysis of the synthetic sweetener sodium saccharin and sodium cyclamate in the tea drink. Synthetic sweetener were identified by color reactions and microcrystalline test. The result were compared with standard substances. Of the four samples examined here are three samples contain sodium cyclamate, while one other sample not find the content of sodium cyclamate and sodium saccharin. Levels of sodium cyclamate in the sample were determined by uv-vis spektofotometer.These levels are below the limit determined by Health Minister’s Regulation of Indonesian Republic which is 0.3 % for the soft drink.

Abstract

Secara tradisional, genjer (Limnocharis flava (L.) Buchenau) digunakan untuk sayuran. Gejer terbukti memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dan anti-lipooksigenase. Penelitian ini bertujaun untuk melihat pengaruh pemberian ekstrak genjer terhadap aktivitas anti-inflamasi dan jumlah sel leukosit mencit putih jantan setelah diinduksi karagen 1%.. Dosis ekstrak herba genjer yang digunakan adalah 40 mg/kg BB, 80 mg/kg BB, 160 mg/kg BB. Natrium diklofenak sebagai kontrol positif, karagena 1 % sebagai kontrol negatif dan Na. CMC sebagai kontrol normal. Parameternya yaitu volume radang  yang diukur pada jam ke 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 menggunakan pletismometer dan jumlah sel leukosit yang diukur pada jam ke-1 dan jam ke-6 . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol herba genjer terhadap persentase radang (P<0,05) dan pada persen inhibisi radang menunjukkan adanya hambatan radang pada tikus putih jantan. Ekstrak etanol herba genjer tidak mempengaruhi jumlah sel leukosit tikus putih jantan (P>0,05).

Abstract

The research about formulation and evaluation of physical stability of ibuprofen suspension using arabic gom and  natrium carboxymethylcelulose as suspending agent had been done. Concentration of arabic gom and  natrium carboxymethylcelulose were 2.5 : 0.25, 5 : 0.5, 2.5 : 0.75 and 5 : 1 % for F1, F2, F3 and F4 respectinely. Evaluation of physical stability had been done  for 8 weeks, ie organoleptic, density, viscosity, volume of sedimentation, redispresion, pH, freeze thaw cycling, crystal growth and particle size distribution. Concentration of arabic gom and natrium carboxymethylcelulose had been influenced the physical stability of suspension.
