Abstract

Background:  The incidence of anemia among adolescent girls in Denpasar City was 45.9% and relatively high. Existing interventions were not optimal in reducing the incidence of anemia in adolescents. Increasing knowledge to increase self-awareness in adolescents can be done through empowering peer counselors by implementing the Structured Education Peer Counselor Program Objectives:  to analyze the influence of Structured Education Peer Counselors on adolescent self-awareness in preventing anemia. Results:  The research results showed that there was an influence of the Structured Education Peer Counselor Program on increasing teenagers' self-awareness to prevent anemia (p <0.001). Conclusion: This program was able to increase adolescent self-awareness in preventing anemia and can become input in developing appropriate educational programs for adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: About 30% preschoolers in the world was experienced sleep problem. Sleep problem intervention is needed for promoting growth and developing children. Objectives:  To analyze the intervention for sleep problem in preschooler. Methods: This study uses systematic review design and conducted in Google scholar database. The search using keyword “Intervention and Sleep Problem and Preschool”. Population and setting of this study is preschooler in community services. Intervention of this study is sleep problem intervention for preschooler and outcome measure is sleep. Inclusion criteria for articles were published in journal with English or Indonesian language, between 2011 until 2020, article with quantitative design or systematic review, title of article relevant with topic. Review articles were excluded, as well as those including participants with hospitalization, do not include applicable intervention. Results:  A total of 15 studies were critical appraisal using tables that consist of information about sample, instrument, and type of intervention, result and conclusionin the review. Eight studies were targeting parents, two studies were targeting parents and preschooler and four studies were targeting preschooler. Most of intervention that applied to parents was sleep education about sleep hygiene that delivered directly, indirectly (internet), consultation, and modification of media use, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral treatment and combined intervention. Duration of intervention is varies, most of study need time less than 1 month. Conclusions:  Sleep education about sleep hygiene for parents is recommended intervention to solve sleep problem according to family center care. There were limited studies targeting parents and children directly.

Abstract

Introduction: First year students in college are prone to experiencing stress because environmental adaptation and new habits while undergoing their first semester lectures. This raises different stress coping for each student.  Objectives: This study aims to determine the relationship between stress and emotional eating behavior in first semester students of Health Department in Purwokerto. Methods: The type of research used quantitative research with a cross sectional research design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total of 247 students as respondents. The analysis test in this study used the Rank Spearman test. Results: Respondents experienced moderate category of stress (73.7%) and moderate category of emotional eating (73.7%). The results of the Rank Spearman test between the variables of stres and emotional eating showed p value = 0.000 (p value <0.05). Conclusions: There was a significant relationship between stress and emotional eating in first semester students.

Abstract

Introduction: Problems that dominate adolescence include sexuality, HIV/AIDS, and drugs.  sexual behavior of adolescents can hurt their health, both physically, psychologically, and socially, which often ends in unwanted pregnancies, early marriage, abortion, sexually transmitted infections, and other manifestations in the form of increased maternal mortality rates (MMR). Objectives: to examine one of the factors related to adolescents' exposure in shaping their sexual behavior, namely by analyzing the length of internet and social media access of adolescents in a day with adolescent sexual behavior. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design, using a sample in the study of 170 adolescents in Terjun Village, Medan Marelan Subdistrict which was taken by simple random sampling. the data obtained were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: show that there is a significant relationship between the length of internet access and adolescent social media in a day with adolescent sexual behavior with a p value = 0.0005 (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: To prevent risky sexual behavior in adolescents related to access to the internet and social media, better monitoring is needed from parents and also providing education to adolescents about positive internet access so that all adolescents become wiser in using the internet and social media they have.

Abstract

Introduction: The preliminary study at Ridwanussholihin Kindergarten in Malang City shows that there are still many preschool children who use gadgets for >1 hour. The relatively long use of gadgets in preschool children can have positive and negative impacts.  Objectives: The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the duration of gadget use and the social development of preschool children (4-5 years old) at Ridwanussholihin Kindergarten in Malang City. Methods: This research applies a quantitative approach with the Cross-Sectional method. The application of the total sampling technique resulted in a sample size of 50 people. Data analysis through univariate analysis and bivariate analysis.  Results: The results of the analysis showed that most of the respondents as many as 29 respondents (58%) were in the normal social development category, and the remaining 21 respondents (42%) were in the suspect development category. Then the proportion of respondents related to the duration of gadget use is relatively balanced, 25 people (50%) use gadgets for ≤ 1 hour (normal), and 25 people (50%) with a duration of > 1 hour (long). In the Spearman correlation test, the sig value <0.05 is 0.001, so the decision is that there is a positive and significant relationship between the duration of gadget use and the social development of preschool children.  Discussion: Intense exposure to gadgets has limited stimulus and optimization of social development. Therefore, synergy between the school and parents in establishing policies regarding the use and supervision of gadgets is needed, as an effort to prevent the use of gadgets from replacing direct social interactions that are essential for children's development.

Abstract

Introduction:  Dietary patterns is the most important behavior that affects a person's nutritional state. The dietary patterns consists of three components, which include the types of food, eating schedules, and meal portions. Objectives:  This study aimed to analyzed the daily dietary patterns of rice farmers in Rambigundam Village, Rambipuji District, Jember Regency. Methods: This research is a quantitative research used a descriptive research design and the sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The sample in this research were rice farmers totaling 205 people who fit the inclusion criteria. Data were collected used the Daily Dietary Patterns Questionnaire which consisted of 20 statement items that had 4 answer options, namely never, sometimes, often, and always, each with a different score. Data analysis in this research used univariate analysis. Results:  The results of this research showed that the daily dietary patterns of rice farmers in Rambigundam Village are varied, some are moderate (36,1%), good (35,6%), and poor (8,3%). Discussion:  Differences in dietary patterns among farmers can be influenced by the amount of income and education they have. Conclusions: Nurses as educators can provided information regarding good dietary patterns so that it is hoped that farmers can improve their dietary patterns which included food variety, eating schedules, and meal portions that can be fulfilled properly, in order to achieve optimal health status. Apart from that, farmers are also encouraged to actively seek information related to supporting a good diet, considering that working as a farmer is hard work and drains energy.

Abstract

Introduction: Landslides are one of the disasters that often occur in Indonesia. Landslide disasters cause a lot of material loss and casualties. South Sumedang is one of the sub-districts that experiences the most landslides in Sumedang Regency. Preparedness that can be done to reduce the impact of landslides is by conducting education. Objective: This research aims to determine the effect of disaster education on the level of knowledge of Sebelas April Middle School students in dealing with landslides. Methods: This research used Quasi-Experimental with a Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 112 students and data analysis used Wilcoxon. Results: The results of the research show a p-value of 0.001, which means there is a difference in the knowledge of Sebelas April Middle School students between before and after counseling. Discussion: It was concluded that counseling had a significant effect on increasing students' knowledge in dealing with landslide disasters.

Abstract

Introduction:  Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is a critical emergency condition that necessitates immediate intervention to prevent fatal outcomes. In rural areas, where access to quality educational resources is limited, Documentary Short Films (DSF) can provide essential training that enhances individuals' confidence and willingness to act decisively in emergency situations involving OHCA through CPR. Objectives:  To analyze the effect of DSF on enhancing student's confidence and willingness to perform CPR in rural areas. Methods:  This study employed a quasi-experimental design utilizing a one-group pretest-posttest framework, conducted at a junior high school in Jember Regency, involving 72 students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. The educational media utilized was a Documentary Short Film (DSF). Following the administration of a pretest questionnaire and the viewing of the DSF, a post-test was administered one week later to assess changes in self-confidence and willingness to perform CPR. Results The results indicate a significant difference in students' confidence and willingness to perform CPR before and after the educational intervention using the DSF (p < 0.05). The average self-confidence score among respondents rose from 5.78 (2 – 3 questions responding with 'confidence') to 9.43 (4 – 5 questions responding with 'confidence'). Additionally, the average willingness score showed an improvement from 9.13 (3 – 5 questions responding with 'willing') to 15.68 (7 – 8 questions responding with 'willing'). Conclusions:  DSF for CPR training effectively enhances rural middle school students' confidence and willingness, improving community emergency response and safety .

Abstract

Introduction: The aging process in the elderly includes changes in physical appearance, health conditions, cognitive function, social-emotional function, and interpersonal relationships. On elderly who live alone or are called empty-nest elderly this can encourage changes in an individual's views and attitudes towards themselves, as well as support from other people received by the elderly, which can give rise to psychological phenomena in the form of feelings of sadness, loss, and loneliness which are often not realized. Objectives: This study aims to determine the relationship between self-concept and social support on the psychological well-being of empty-nest elderly. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design using a purposive random sampling technique with a total of 108 empty-nest elderly as respondents. The data were analyzed using the Sommers'd Gamma test. Results: The results of the research show that there is a significant relationship between self-concept and psychological well-being (memengaruhi=0.048, p<0.05) with a moderate degree of correlation (coefficient r=0.362) and a significant relationship to social support (memengaruhi=0.003, p<0.05) with a strong degree of correlation (coefficient r=0.548). Conclusions: Self-concept and social support have a significant influence on the psychological well-being of elderly empty nesters, therefore it is hoped that society can facilitate elderly people to have a good self-concept and provide strong social support to increase the level of psychological well-being of empty-nest elderly.

Abstract

Introduction: family  is  the  factor  that  influences  the  growth  of  children  in  a family.  Stunting  is  a  condition  that  must  be  of  special  concern  because  it  can resistor the physical development and mental of children. The family's role and function  in  increasing  family  resilience  is  very  needed  in  the  compliance nutritional status of children under five. Objectives: The aim of this study was to see  the  relationship  between  family  resilience  and  the  incidence  of  stunting  in children. Methods: This study used a literature review method, and the literature search  procedure  was  conducted  using  databases  such  as  PubMed  and  Google Scholar.  Keywords included "family resilience," "family role," "family function," "stunting,"  "malnutrition," and  "food  security." Inclusion criteria  covered  peer- reviewed  quantitative  studies  (cross-sectional,  case-control,  cohort)  published between 2016–2021 in English or Indonesian, with full-text availability. Exclusion criteria  included  non-full-text  articles,  narrative  reviews,  case  reports,  and unrelated topics. Results: Results 8 journals sorted by research topic. 2 journals discuss the role of family and family support on nutritional status related to stunting and 6  journals  discuss  food  security  related  to  stunting.  The  findings  indicate  that multiple  aspects  of  family  resilience,  including  family  roles,  food  security, parenting,  and  dietary  diversity,  play  a  crucial  role  in  preventing  stunting. Conclusions: From this study it was concluded that there was a relationship between family resilience with stunting in children.
